See these Three C level fighters stay in front of Sergio, tagging him and tagging him, exposing his lack of defense, lack of elusiveness, and then think Sergio would beat Golovkin? I don't get it.
I mean sure, yeah, "He stopped 'macklin and Barker doe". That's the least he could have done after absorbing 40% of Macklin's power punches and 42% of Barkers thru 11 rounds, and who knows how many of Margarito's punches, looking like a complete punching bag. Those bums even broke his nose and knocked him down
I've presented you with irrefutable facts, statistics and pwns guys, its impossible to argue against! /Thread closed
The only reason I smiled was because of the choice of a fighter you picked. Like if Martinez is a favorite fighter of mine and as if you competely missed these posts I said on Martinez's elusiveness/defense:
I don't think so. In fights where he won or seemingly won, he got hit a lot. Cintron, Pavlik, Williams, Murray, Macklin, Barker, all of these guys hit him at will.
Pavlik KD'ed Martinez and was tagging him a bunch of times, Barker broke Martinez's nose in the first few rounds. Murray knocked him down twice.
When I say landed at will, don't take it literal. For a "slick" fighter, Martinez showed no slickness in those fights. Just because he hangs his arms down like a monkey and smiles around the ring getting tagged, doesn't mean he's slick.
Broner ain't defensive just cause he copies a defensive fighters' stance. Pascal and Martinez aren't Roy Jones just cause they stand and try to square up like him.
When a fighter gets hit at will, I don't mean 50-60% of their punches landed. Getting hit 30% of the times is already a lot, you certainly are not defensive or slick if you are getting hit 30% of the time(total punches). Barker landed 38% of his punches, Macklin 29%, Pavlik 31% (45% power punches same as what Martinez landed). Williams 33% power punches.
When fighters are landing 40% of their power punches on you, sorry, but that is not slick at all, that is a KO waiting to happen once he fights a puncher.
Again, I smiled. I guess we are in agreement :lol1:
Nice little fail sarcastic thread with a bunch of cheerleaders in it.
too late for Martinez to beat GGG
the guy had his last hurrah against Chavez
and he almost fucked up and blew that one in the 12th
the guy robbed Murray and stays relevant by calling out names
at this point GGG would smoke him
still say Murray deserves 1st dibs on a shot, he got ripped off
but so long as Martinez fights 1 of them next yr, it's all good
GGG should be MW champ within the next 18 months
I like both fighters but it's Ali vs Holmes. Their peaks don't match.
I picked Murray to beat Martinez & I think he did (not screaming robbery). Sergio is half the fighter he was just a couple of years ago. He still beats most but not Golovkin at this stage although it may have been a different story in a different year.
I'd be happy if Sergio never fought again but I understand the warriors mentality.
LOL. I know right... Little Kev can't tell me which version of Martinez will trouble Golovkin. The one that lost to Margarito, the one who went thru life and death with drunk Pavlik, the one who got troubled by Macklin or the one who got thrown around like a ragdoll by high weeded up version of Chavez Jr lol.
Oh but wait, he will give Golovkin the respect he deserves once he fights Murray. Oh wait, Murray has ducked/passed on the fight TWICE when offered.
Peanut brain Kev is his new name.
"Ever since he ko'ed some mailmen and local bums I knew he was better than the proven king of the division"
Aren't you a Wilder booster? Predicted he KOs the Klits?
Like the TS says, in his prime Martinez struggled with fighters that are roadkill for GGG, and they know it.
I think Martinez is overrated by many guys on here.Ever since I saw GGG fight a few times there was no doubt in my mind that he was a better fighter than Martinez ever was.

GGG needs to fight fighters with different styles. It will be good for his development , even though he's already 30+. Everybody can't be a face first bums coming at him. Rosado is different but he's a B- maybe B+ on his best day. But all these other guys won't prepare GGG for Ward or Froch for that matter.
Bro, GGG saw a gazillion different styles in the amateurs and he sparred with a lot of elite pros (Canelo, Quillin, Chavez, Cloud, Kovalev, Mosley, Afolabi).
GGG Ain't on the level of a PRIME MACKLIN anyway
Barker lost pretty much every round

Exactly what I'm saying.
What does it say about Martinez that he struggled with Macklin, who everyone is calling a C fighter that doesn't mean much as a win for Golovkin?
And if people are honest, there's not much, if anything, separating Macklin from Murray or Barker or Sturm or anyone else besides Martinez.
Bradley whooped Marquez lol what are you talking about
Not really, don't get me wrong Bradley won, but their was no schooling, clinic, whooping or domination to speak of

First of all, I notice this is a reply to another thread so I see where you're coming from.
Anyhow, Margarito, Macklin, and Barker are not C level fighters. They are all B level fighters (prime Margarito could be B+). Geale was the considered the top middleweight contender when Barker beat him recently, so that speaks well of Barker. Macklin has been a top 10 middleweight since 2008 or 2009 and I think he was ranked as the #3 contender when Sergio beat him.
Sergio was very raw when he fought Margarito, he started boxing late and had only been a pro for 2 years when he fought Margarito (who'd been a pro for six years). It was also Sergio's first fight outside of Argentina (16th fight overall) and Margarito's 12th in the US (25th overall). Margarito was only a year away from his first title fight.
Barker and Macklin both took a beating from Martinez (hence why they both got stopped), I thought neither guy could have won more than 1-3 rounds each. Barker lost pretty much every round, but occasionally landed some decent right hands while using the turtle defense. Macklin (fighting conservatively) forced Martinez to initiate the action, which led to some boring rounds until Sergio picked up the pace and knocked him out. He won maybe the fifth round and the 7th because of the "knockdown" where he really just tripped Sergio as he was moving back; Macklin actually took a beating before and after the knockdown.
Sure Sergio got hit with 29% of Macklin's punches (only 134 landed) and 38% against Barker, but it's not that unusual. Keep in mind that Bika (who landed over 200 punches) hit Ward with 33% of his punches and 40% of his power punches. Abraham landed 47% of his punches on Ward and 60% of his power punches and yet Andre Ward is considered an excellent defensive fighter (I believe he is). Mayweather got hit by 40% Castillo's punches and 46% of his power punches (203 landed). Also, Bradley (in a fight he dominated) was hit by 34% of Marquez's punches and 40% of his power punches.
Barker didn't knock him down lol neither did Margarito I don't think. Macklins was a a trip and push lmao.
