Please explain i don't have a clue what you are talking about?
That is a quote from the CEO of Golden boy not my words.
It was pretty weird as Lucas's goal was to become a world champion and he could have just vacated the WBC interim belt beat Peterson and then still had a chip to play with Garcia and unified 3 belts but now he will just be known as a interim champion.
He lost his chance at being a world champion, Garcia is pretty much his only line unless he can rematch Peterson again.
He was right to aim for Garcia. Having a belt and being a world champion isn't quite the same thing anyway. A fight between Lucas and Danny was a real world championship fight.
The reason Matthysse vs Peterson was at 141lb's was because the IBF refused to unify the IBF belt with the WBC interim belt.
Golden boys Richard Schaefer
''Both fighters wanted to fight for both belts, so there was no issue there. The IBF said that they do not recognize unification bouts with interim-belts. Then the approach was for Lamont to only defend his belt, or for Matthysse to only defend his belt - that was one possibility. Or have the IBF rule that they can fight for both belts and then the winner would have to decide within a week which belt he will keep. All of that was not acceptable. So we really had a choice of not doing the fight because of that or to do the fight and make it a non-title fight."

I thought it was Matthysse because he wanted to keep his spot as no1 contender to Garcia's belt?
The fighters were fine with putting the belts on the line. The alphabet organisations are what caused the problem.

Yea, that's what it was. When it first came out everyone blamed Lamont
You realise it was the Peterson camp who wanted the fight at 141 or whatever weight it was! That allowed Lamont to keep the belts..

If I'm not mistaken it wasn't by choice Lucas fought Lamont at 141.
It was, he wanted to preserve his mandatory status at 140 for the WBC. Win or lose would'e affected it.
He will have at least one more shot at a championship. He has Haymon now so all he has to do is point plus Showtime absolutely loves Lucas. If he wants he can get a rematch if Showtime and the other sponsors pony up the money for it. Who else at 140 can Danny fight that will bring in revenue for Showtime? Maybe Khan but I thought he was moving up because he was killing himself to make 140. If they make Danny a great enough offer he will have no choice but to give Lucas a rematch
It's better to have loved and lost than to not have loved at all. He could've held the belt for a few months, warmed it up and had Danny snatch it from him like the last piece of iguana meat at an Argentine BBQ ... But instead he gets to be in the blue corner for the rest of his career.
Lucas and Ruslan fight 180 degrees from each other in terms of style
Lucas is a more skilled fighter, but less skilled fighters can use relentless pressure and power to overwhelm more skilled opponents
Malignaggi vs Hatton, Cotto vs Pacquiao, two fights that come to mind.
Saying Danny beat Lucas so he automatically > * simply isn't true and is naive and borderline arrogant to suggest it
Danny probably can beat Provo too.
Yea you heard it.... Danny beats him.
Danny took Matthysse's best punches, he can take this rugged brawler and cut him up
:lol1: @ "Yeah you heard it"
Still bragging about picking overwhelming favourites?
Could you imagine... one belt away from undisputed

Not really cause I'm sure the rematch is there. The belt woulda just went to Danny anyways.
At least if they rematch and he wins he gets a belt out of it
