Pacman is coming off a layoff, a devastating ko loss, and now the biggest typhoon ever has hit his country where he is a senator and were he resides. There is no way this is not affecting Pacquiao. With thousands dead and the death toll rising in the place he calls home, this has to mentally have some effect on Pacquiao. Andre Berto didn't fight Mosley after the Earthquake in Haiti and he didn't even live there.
Now the devastating losses things is new, but the Philippine storms have happened before... Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if HBO is behind the storms just to make the 24/7's more interesting
GOD HELP THE FILIPINO PEOPLE... PRAY FOR THE PHILIPPINES
There I said it
Rios style is why he was picked. Is he a good fighter: Yes,..he is. Because of his toughness, power and agression. Not for his skillsets, or speed.
It has the potential to be a difficult fight for Pacquiao. If it is,..he should get out of boxing,..it's over
He should rip through Rios. I think he'll do it by boxing and using speed. The KO may come. I don't think they are on the hunt for it.
The Typhoon has probably effected him..But in a positive way. He will no doubt dedicate the fight to the victims of the Typhoon and the uplifting of his nation.
The Typhoon missed General Santos City completely. Pacquiao and his camp had no exposure at all to either the Typhoon or its impact.
Pacquiao has grown up in some of the worst poverty known to planet earth. He is a man of enormous inner strength.
I really believe Rios is going to get a serious boxing lesson and a beating. This could go the distance. I think either Garcia, the Referee,..or the Ringside physican will stop the bout once it becomes one sided(which it will after about 6-7 rds).
Bad Stuff happens but pros deal with it. Pacquiao knows a win will lift the spirits of the whole country and that will be his inspiration. The pro oddsmakers who set odds for a living still have Pacquiao a solid 4 to 1 favorite to beat Rios. Nothing can tip the odds in favor of Rios because he is fighting a fighter who is much better than he is and has proven himself many times over. Sure,Rios is a good pro with heart, toughness, stamina and power. He has a chance to win but it's a very small chance. Pacquiao is still by far the expected winner.
Fighters respond differently to adversity. We'll just have to wait and see.
Buster Douglas lost his mother during training camp and pulled off one of the greatest wins in sports history.
Welcome noob, I'm not a promoter and this is a boxing forum where you talk about boxing. I could care less who watches the fight I'm pointing out facts. If you lived in New Orleans during Katrina and you had to fight in a couple weeks you would be affected but then again I doubt no one can affect the keyboard warrior in you
Stop trying to sell this fight. It is what it is. The people that like Pacquiao like this match up and the people that don't like Pacquiao think it's a cherry pick. Your not changing anybodies mind on here. Both sides are dug in. Personally I don't care much for this match up but I'm not knocking Pacquiao for taking it. The man has to eat. So if a Bobs going to offer Pacquiao big money to fight Rios he should take it. Just don't be trying to Khan me.
Don't know, looking at the devastation over there it would be pretty hard to focus and these are the most important weeks in training.
This isn't injustice this is a disaster, like Katrina all over the Philippines
Pac has been aware of harsh poverty and injustice in Philippines for a long time. Death and tragedy is nothing new over there. With that said, he should be fine.
