If boxing scoring stays like this, boxing would be continue to die as a sport. A lot of people really don't care who the judges score for, people come or pay to see a fight, not see someone running and tapping and win the fight. Tapping (powerless jab) is a score like straight power shots to the face? And no penalty for running and holding? You hear the boos and that is the evidence. I'm sure you have seen it too in many other fights like one other fight won by Rigo. If boxing has to be saved, another true boxing sanctioning body has to be created with a different way of scoring system, and with default loss records for refusing mandatory challengers that prevent cherry picking. Boxing is currently on life support or it may have finally died last night, for many people.

A lot of people post in this forum of how Manny is too good and I also think so, but I think he is also too careless. I'd like to point out the fight he had with Algeri. If you review the fight, you can see that Manny can still be hit with straight close shots to his face by Algeri. Not a very powerful shot at that time, but you can see that although he is good, he did not learn from his mistakes with JMM. Reviewing back Manny's other old fights, you can tell the difference of how Manny constantly moves his head to avoid getting hit, or avoid getting a counter shot, but not much recently, do you notice? I think he is past his prime and it started when he lost to Tim Bradley then continued on when JMM took advantage of his new age-related weakness or lack of something. Another thing I notice nowadays with Manny is his c0ckiness and over confidence. Let me know if you disagree?

Not so fast boxing fans. I know, I know, that the fight is on, but if we the boxing fans do not convince Manny Pacquiao to stop playing basketball, he could get injured and the fight is off. Manny has to realize that there is so much money involved here, not just from the fight purse, gate receipts, PPV revenue, but also indirect economic impact like overpriced and fully booked Las Vegas hotels, airline tickets, restaurants, etc. He should not be doing silly things at this time like playing basketball. I believe it is Floyd himself who is not doing enough. People talk about boxing contracts but its not very clear to me how it works. Canelo-Kirkland fight is on in May, no mention of a contract, but people think its a go since a few days ago. Is a contract something like some piece of paper you give to someone to sign and it has a proof of delivery like the post office does, and a time limit to be received and returned? Who holds the contracts and how does it change hands?

I'm trying to understand why Floyd hates Arum so much he would make him his excuse this time and I found this article below. What if Arum called a bluff and said he would step aside, but have internal arrangements that he will still get the money as if he were the promoter. Just been hearing chatter from Sulaiman lately but, what he says doesn't really matter. The boxing fans have been hoping that he and the WBC would have made boxing in a better state than it is today, but they failed. The WBC failed the boxing fans by failing to impose mandatory fights for champions who hold their belts, strip champions of belts, or impose default loss records to champions who refuse to fight a mandatory challenger. This also applies to all the other boxing sanctioning bodies to just "self-destruct".

Unless Mayweather lays out his demands now, all of what he said last night are meaningless and just an excuse for being too quiet about everyone trying to get him to say anything after he said to him "get past the fight, then we'll talk". I hope he will not come up with ridiculous and unfair demands as another real "ducking" excuse. Making unfair demands is another way of "ducking". He will have the opportunity again tonight on ringside during the Khan-Alexander fight. We will be tuned to Showtime and expecting him to talk.

You can argue all day why the fight we wanted to see never happened before, but that was yesterday. Today is different, we never hear a word from Mayweather that he wants the fight, after he said that "finish the other fight, then we'll talk". Well now, no talk. Our last hope is that the voters in the official boxing hall of fame would never get him to the BHOF, because as of now, there is not enough reason for Mayweather to be in the BHOF, unless he truly is fearless.

Now it's really getting annoying having to deal with Floyd's demands on how boxing fights should be made. Like he is the one calling the shots, not the people behind the boxing organizations. It looks like these boxing organizations are useless, particularly these two organizations letting him have both belts. If you can't let him fight the person he fears the most, then strip him of the two belts and put a default loss on his record. You people behind these organizations should be ashamed of yourselves. I pay Showtime subscription only to watch boxing, and I never watch Showtime movies at all, just boxing. I hear you Canelo after the fight. If all boxers just run inside the ring, would you think boxing becomes realy boring and nobody would like boxing anymore? Would boxing organizations finally put an end to this style of boxing and have the referee and boxing judges put some points penalties to the boxer for excessive running? Typically it takes about 4 days for PPV numbers to come out. But by the way it has been delayed for the last expensive PPV boxing, it says something that the PPV numbers did not do well. I could not quite get it how the PPV revenues are split up, I heard the networks get half of the PPV receipts, or if the fighters purse are taken from PPV receipts or promoter's investment or gate receipts. Either way if the PPV numbers have to reach 1 million buys even to get even, I think Floyd was getting paid too much and it was a mistake. I'm not even sure who loses money, but for sure Floyd runs away with his money and shows up on NBA playoffs courtside from east coast to west coast. If you were a business you would not continue if you end up losing money. And for sure something has to change. I don't know if Floyd's contract with Showtime is public, but I think Showtime would continue bleeding money if it can't dictate who Floyd should fight next. Right now if Showtime indeed lost money on the last fight, their CEO would surely say that this will not happen again, or risk the anger of its shareholders. Maybe the delay in releasing the PPV numbers is timed when stock market conditions are favorable. I stayed away from buying this last fight even if I could afford it, because for me it just was not worth it. People from Showtime should learn from boxing fans buying patterns, if we don't like the merchandise, we will take our money elsewhere. This time people should think first before buying it: * $75 for HD PPV is too high a price * the fight is always free after a week and all major sports networks tell us who won right after the fight. You only need to hear that he lost the fight and remember that his fights were never really that entertaining. * It is possible that Maidana could be paid to lose, considering it took a long time for him to be picked over Khan, and how much Floyd wants to keep his unbeaten record for marketing purposes * Floyd does not throw a lot of punches, he waits for the opponent to run after him then he counters, like BHop, and wins on points. It is better for Maidana to wait for him in the middle of the ring than run after him and give Floyd a dose of his own counter punching medicine * Floyd like Manny is old and both have not shown capability to pull off a sensational knockout in recent times, punches have to be weaker as boxers get older. There are a lot of other younger boxers nowadays with very powerful punches and you don't pay a lot of money to watch them. * Floyd is already very rich. It will be better for you to give your money to someone else more deserving or to charity.

You may like Hopkins style but I did not like the way Hopkins won the fight. True he was more accurate but threw fewer punches, and most of the time backing off or running away. I think this is what made one judge score against Hopkins, because maybe the judge thought that running away too much is a criteria for losing a round. I thought it was better for Shumenov to wait in the middle of the ring and wait for Hopkins to exchange punches, than trying to run after Hopkins and get careless. I think the key to beating Hopkins boring tactic or a similar boxer is to give him a dose of his own medicine, be more of a counter puncher than him. Hopkins may have won a lot of fights, but he did not earn my respect to him as a great boxer, I would rather give my respect to Shawn Porter and Tim Bradley.

Beating two time champion Joyi in 3 rounds via a sensational KO is one of the notable KO I've seen in recent fights. I like his fighting style, fearless, technical, although his earlier records are not very good, he must have greatly improved lately. I think he is a potential money maker for himself and for the top boxing promoters. The call him Lorento in the fight, but check him out, its a good KO.

What is Deontay Wilder's handlers doing cherry picking fights when Deontay Wilder IMHO is good enough to beat Klitchko. I haven't seen a good heavyweight fight lately, most of Klitchko's fights are boring because Klitchko is slow, and Deontay's speed could be a challenge. Come on guys, let's see that fight!

Man you are a real fighter you have earned my respect and I am now your fan. To beat a champion convincingly by constantly attacking and being not afraid to get hit is a rare feat nowadays. An exciting slugger and not a boring overly defensive boxer, I even think Provodnikov also beat Tim Bradley in his previous bout by almost flooring Tim. Keep improving in your future fights and I am sure you will be one of today's dominant fighters and I am sure you will attract more fans and you will be a future hall of famer.
