A lot of people post in this forum of how Manny is too good and I also think so, but I think he is also too careless. I'd like to point out the fight he had with Algeri. If you review the fight, you can see that Manny can still be hit with straight close shots to his face by Algeri. Not a very powerful shot at that time, but you can see that although he is good, he did not learn from his mistakes with JMM.
Reviewing back Manny's other old fights, you can tell the difference of how Manny constantly moves his head to avoid getting hit, or avoid getting a counter shot, but not much recently, do you notice? I think he is past his prime and it started when he lost to Tim Bradley then continued on when JMM took advantage of his new age-related weakness or lack of something.
Another thing I notice nowadays with Manny is his c0ckiness and over confidence.
Let me know if you disagree?

He knew that Algieri can't hurt him, so he didn't have to be careful. Even though Algieri landed a couple of right hands early, he didn't throw them with any conviction at all probably cuz he was shook by the magnitude of the event and he was afraid of getting caught with something from Pacquiao, then he became even more hesitant and he stopped throwing the punch and decided that he'll just try to survive, Pacquiao of course saw that and he capitalized on it.
There Is a member on this board that would say otherwise. Pacquiao could possibly walk Into Floyd's jab and get knocked out. You get three chances to name that member.
I totally agree. Pacquiao was hit by Margarito and many many other big punchers throughout his career. I think Floyd's chances of knocking Pacquiao out are very slim. On the flip side Mayweather does have an Iron chin. I think the logical conclusion Is a close decision win.
didn't brandon rios ko pacquiao with a jab?
People act like if Manny has never been hit, which he has. He's been in a ton of wars, and has tasted power across 8 different weight classes, and adjusts his defenses accordingly. When he saw that algieri hit like a girl,he proceeded to walk through his shots, and take the fight to him. He's obviously not going to walk face first into Floyd's punches,if he sees that Floyd has a decent punch.

Might get some heat for this, but don't consider Thurman an offensive fighter. I think he is more of a boxer with good offensive skills: speed, power. I consider a fighter an offensive fighter if he is mostly a come forward kind of guy and is known more his offense than his defense. Whereas, I think Thurman's best attribute is his boxing ability, with all honesty. His offensive strengths just make him such a dangerous opponent.
Personally, Thurman's style is probably my favorite, good boxing skills with good power. The combination of nice boxing ability, defense, intelligence, and knockout power make for an almost unbeatable fighter. You don't find those attributes often.
Anyway, there were some fighters that were mostly offensive, but had great defense, or at least underrated defense. Chavez Sr. definitely comes to mind. He was definitely great with anticipating shots on the inside, bending at the waist, good head movement, rolling under punches, pushing fighters off with the shoulder, etc. Many subtleties to his defense. Very underrated defense, though. But, yes offensive fighters understand that if you are pressing the fight, you are bound to take some punches.
Algieri was in a shell the whole time while not trying to engage at all. Manny had to get him to open up, and he had absolutely no fear of his punching power.
GGG/Murray is another example of this.
Or you could also say Algieri was in the cage the whole time. :lol1:
Funny thing is, Algieri in his previous fights Threw 100-140 punches per round. He was so scared to punch against pac all he did was run.
Yeah. CA has killer stamina. This is another reason I pick Manny to win. His resume is full of every style imaginable. He can fight against any style. Nobody wants to acknowledge this fact. CA has a difficult style because of his conditioning and movement. The guy knows how to survive for 12 rounds. Bradley has good handspeed, strong willed, good legs and stamina. Manny is a special fighter. He is 36 yrs old. Set for life financially and STILL has something to prove every time he fights. The casual fan overlooks little things like that. It is not easy fighting PRIME fighters when you're 36 yrs old and have fought the best for 10 plus years. While Manny came up two divisions to give us the fights we wanted, Floyd was somewhere on a boat, hiding. Smh. He doesn't even have an opponent like Algeri or Bradley or Clottey or Cheeto on his record. How is he going to win?
First of all, with a good trainer CA will be a really good fighter. I was rooting for the Crawford fight to get made. Style-wise, he is not a bad fighter at all.
As for Manny's performance. It was a good performance. He didn't respect CA's punch and took a few shots to land his own shots. Don't you know anything about boxing? Let's talk about how Manny took away CA's jab and combination punching. Let's talk about Manny's counter-punching ability? CA won the 5th round. Manny won 11 out of the 12 rounds, against a moving target and fighter who didn't want to engage. Manny did a lot of good things in that fight. He is also an underrated defender. Floyd will have a hard time landing cleanly on Manny.

That's right, no movement, ate punches like skittles and trashed the opponent with 6 KD's. That's what Floyd has to look forward to, tagging the guy all night while getting laughed at and pummeled with power combinations despite his best efforts. I only hope that he doesn't quit on the stool.
Wasn't Bradley your fighter at first? Lol
Pacquiao is EXTREMELY careless against guys he figure cannot put him to sleep. Watch him against De La Hoya, Mosely, Cotto, Margarito, Clotty, Rios. Gets out of there real fast. Ate Marquez shots for 36 rounds and figures Marquez can never do the trick. And was wrong! Problem is, he also has no regard for Floyd's power! So...place your bets!
I disagree..........

Manny Pacquaio has always gotten hit..it didn't start in the last Marquez fight for Christ sakes. He has a great chin and takes one to give 3. If Floyd tries to potshot all night with one punch at a time he loses the fight, plain and simple. He's gonna have to fight and that's when he could get in big trouble and get caught. Can't wait for May 2nd..
