The promotion for this fight has been non-existent. Doesn't help that the undercard is bad and limited crowd audience. Might be the least watched and least anticipated Canelo fight in years.

This makes sense Hooker was the WBO World Champ and is still highly ranked with WBO. Now that he is officially moving to 147 they will transfer his ranking to 147, Vergil is #2 with WBO so I can see them making this a eliminator to become the WBO mandatory. If Ortiz wins one way or another will get a title shot in 2021. For Crawford's WBO belt or for the WBA belt if it becomes vacant with Pacquiao not defending his WBA super belt in 2 years. Ortiz already holds WBA Gold will become the mandatory for a vacant WBA "super" or "regular" belt if one free up.

Eddie hearn simply doesn't know what he is doing outside the UK. Great UK promoter but DAZN failures outside the UK and especially in America lay directly on Hearn. He was overspending on horrible fights that don't make sense. There was no reason to make this fight or pay Mikey to fight Vargas. But if you do spend for the Vargas fight you have to lock up the pacquiao fight or a mega fight next. Instead overpaid Mikey again for a fight nobody wanted to see now he loses killing any big fights. Mikey has been in retirement mode since he took the Spence fight.

Arum threatens Eddie Hearn saying if he puts in a bid for the Lopez fight he might kill the Joshua/Fury fight from happening. Now threatens Lopez saying if someone puts in bid even though what Lopez did is not illegal he will punish him by denying him a large payday against the winner of Taylor/Ramirez. Not a good look for Arum and you are not just punishing Lopez you would be denying a big money fight for the winner of Taylor/Ramirez. You are also not just punishing Hearn if he's the one who bids you are punishing Tyson Fury if you block/sabotage his biggest payday against Joshua.

If you have a promoter or adviser with a network deal who is the promoter/adviser looking out for the fighter or their own network deal?
Pacquiao's official Management team issued a statement saying there has been no talks and that somebody claiming to represent Pacquiao has been doing shady things and speaking for Pacquaio without proper authority and that there should be no talks about his next fight unless you speak with them and threatened legal actions if that continues. So it makes sense what Oscar is saying and what the Golden Boy's CEO said before that. It looks like Ryan and his lawyer/adviser could be in hot water and they were speaking with that shady guy "Sean Gibbons" and they were cutting Pacquaio's official Management team out. From the outside looks like Ryan's Lawyer/adviser trying to make fights without going through proper channels maybe even illegally without authority from Paradigm Sports.

How does Derevyanchenko keep getting these ordered mandatory title shots and title eliminators coming off loses? I don't mind the fighter but there is something wrong with this sport when some fighters loss after loss keep getting title shots while other fighters sit on top of rankings and go years waiting for 1 mandatory title shot. The only explanation is politics. Derevyanchenko is coming off yet another loss his 3rd loss in last 4 fights yet 3 of those fights have been ordered mandatory fights and the other fight was a ordered title eliminator. This would be his 5 straight fight where a fighter was ordered to defend their title against him or forced to fight him in a title eliminator. It will be the 3rd straight time coming off a loss his next fight was for a title eliminator or title shot all mandated.
Lopez conspired with his team and Kambosos's team to go around Top Rank with the purse bid. When you do that you are told whoever wins that bid owns the fight and can stage it wherever they want. According to Mike Copinger Triller lost $5M when the fight was cancelled because of Lopez. Lopez refused to get the vaccine was out selling products and doing a lot of public appearances and got Covid week of the fight. Triller trying to recoup that 5M Australlia will pay more for the fight and you can still stage it same time in US for PPV. But Lopez has kissed and made up with Top Rank inking a new contract increasing his pay if he don't want to give up home advantage just vacate. Probably best for both parties Triller can cut their loses and Lopez can go back to fighting on ESPN. Kambosos's manager works for Triller now so whoever he fights for vacant belt likely still goes on Triller.
IMO whoever gives GBP the most money and dates is where they go. But I think it's very unlikely they stay with DAZN too much bad blood with how they refused to honor the Canelo contract. There was also the deal GBP struck with DAZN right before the pandemic to air bimonthly local fight series. DAZN didn't honor that. They also didn't honor the MLB whiparound show or Bellator's contract. DAZN closed their US offices and laid off everybody from those offices and rebranded DAZN_USA to DAZN_Boxing. DAZN seems to be transitioning to more global content and giving up on DAZN USA region. Before the pandemic there were talks of DAZN being a player for other major American Sports rights and they had much more content to try and drive US subscriptions, that doesn't seem to be a priority anymore. Even Matchroom USA seems to be letting American fighters go and focusing on UK and global events. GBP needs more dates for their roster then 1 card a month which is what DAZN is giving them today. GBP would be smart to move to a outlet that can provide 1 big weekend card a month, 2 weekday local fight cards a month, and maybe a 1 PPV level event every 3 months. That's what they had before DAZN and what was promised to them by DAZN before the pandemic.
If it's in the contract that he signed then his own management team lied and failed him. Hearn doesn't care about BJS he wants to do future business with Canelo but his managers only work for BJS and it's their job to make sure everything is ironed out and review all contracts before you sign. Either BJS is lying to get his excuses ready if he loses the fight or his own manager had him sign something that they didn't agree with.

No chance the ppv providers allow both to go on the same day. ESPN has already gave air time to talk about Triller events it's in the best interest to push June 5 because if Lopez wins he's coming back to fight on ESPN PPVs. Showtime already has announced their own PPV in June so Mayweather fighting June 5th will undercut the buzz and take buys from that PPV. Triller already has Holyfield and other undercard acts ready to go and all their shows have huge music acts performing. There is no details on anything for Mayweather/Logan they will move to another date to have more time to maximize their profits.
This makes sense. He signed a co-promotional deal with Golden Boy last year but because of Covid he didn't fight. Was scheduled to fight on 2 cards that were canceled. Last month his main promoter Eye of the Tiger inked a deal with Cameron Dunkin. Eye of the Tiger probably bought his contract out from Golden Boy because they working with Dunkin.
More so Jake Paul but yes it took shine and attention off this fight. But it won't matter if you already planed to buy tickets or watch the fight you will still regardless.
Once Triller purchased the streaming service Fite TV it made sense because De La Hoya could of had his come back fight on DAZN or any PPV network. He's securing a large network deal for his fighters. Fite TV is where most of these fights going. He has too many fighters and not enough dates and cards from DAZN. Triller giving him 9 figures is huge.
Fite TV is not a new app they have been around since 2012 airing fights longer then DAZN and ESPN+ apps, a report in December says they already have 4M users. You don't buy Fite TV if your goal is to continue doing 1 off Youtube PPVs. They hired Peter Kahn a heavyweight in boxing to run their boxing department. You don't bring him in if you plan to just do YouTube fights. They won a purse bid for Lopez, now securing one of the top promoters in boxing. Triller clearly has bigger goals and want to be in this boxing space long term and are throwing big money around.

Canelo being 5'8 winning his first world title at 154 moving up to 175 is like Bivol moving up to heavyweight and see how he fares against Tyson Fury. He will not look the same and can not fight the same way against heavyweights tactically when you are giving up so many physical advantages to guys bigger, taller, longer, hit harder and can take bigger punches.
I agree but I don't think he has anyone to tell him the truth and Eddie Hearn is terrible at matchmaking and refuses to push back on Canelo. I can see the rematch happening and I see him losing again.
