IMO while there were many good fights and moments during the year, the let down of the major fights and names makes it a bad year overall.
theres only mega fight that will garner main stream attention. even a floyd/martinez, while it would be big for us boxing fans, wouldnt be big for the rest of the world.
you got fighters ducking and holding out for big money fights BEFORE they even make a name for themselves (bradley im looking at you).
gr8 find and pretty much sums why so many are disgusted. i never call close fight a roobery, even if it dont go the way i scored it. but i saw only 2 or 3 rounds at most for bradley.
the question of why he would ask for random testing if he was cheating is simple. he cheated back in nov before the 1st fight and got away with it. he surely figured by now he would be clean and it wouldnt show up.
his explanations are really crappy. his excuse for not informing anyone that he did it, not informing anyone after his 1st sample failed and waiting til his 2nd sample failed to let anyone know he took what he thought was a "natural, organic" test booster area pretty bad excuses.
yeah theres no logical explanation here except he cheated. how could a professional athlete and world champion knows hes going to be tested for test and not speak up and say "oh im taking test cuz my body doesnt produce enough of it". theres no way in hell the thought would not have crossed his mind at some point

they just denied overreem for the UFC in a much higher profile (i.e. money) fight. same ****ty excuse "i took something from the Dr., didnt know what it was, forgot to tell you guys". he even had the Dr. testify at the hearing. they still denied him his license.
tszyu did very well against boxers and speedsters. as manny steward pointed out before the hatton fight, tszyu struggles aginst pressure fights that smother him. against boxers, tszyu had great timing and could land big shots with his straight punches, under rated hand speed and great timing.

i think bowe was vastly over rated. he never fought any of the top fighters of his era (besides holy) like lewis, mercer, morrison, moorer, foreman, ruddock. instead he fought jorge gonzalez, herbie hide, larry donald. holyfield had him all but knocked out in the 3rd fight before he just about had a heart attack in the ring and couldnt do anything.
he had awful defense, was questionable if he would come into a fight in shape and i dont think he took a good punch which why never fought any heavey hitters like moorer, mercer, morrison, lewis, ruddock.
only one person has put a one sided beatdown on wlad. sanders was a 6'4" southpaw with a lightning left that he used to counter punch wlad at the start and then take him out. haye will not have the same game plan. he will either come right after wlad or look to get in and out with combos. i think he will look to use his speed and jump in and out

just becuz pac refused doesnt mean he's guilty. i woulda refused too. lets say at my job, we've never had drug testing. then my boss said he wanted to drug test me and me only, nobody else at, i'd say no even though id have nothing to hide. i'd be insulted. its a matter of principle. i think pac had every right to refuse, especially the way floyd went about it.
Athletes f*cked it up for themselves. Whether an individual is clean or not he can't just refuse testing in this day and age after everything that's happened and still is happening. The fact is, there are question marks over all athletes now. Refusing to take better tests that actually have a chance of catching you or stopping you from cheating only serves to harm your image, and rightly so.
That's not true. Lots of athletes and even boxers have been subjected to better testing regimes. Just none that you care about I guess.
He asked for an inch and Pacquiao offered him a millimeter. Urine tests on the day of the fight and after the fight will confirm whether or not Pacquiao has urine detectable PEDs in his system during the fight, okay. But what about PEDs that are only detectable through blood? What about the possibility of him using PEDs during his training camp (when it is in fact most likely he'd be juicing if he was)?
so OST had been done in pro boxing b4? when? im not knowledgable enough on drug testing to argue those points so i wont. BUT if the current procedures are not good enough for floyd, take them up with up boxing not pac.
and i still dont see why pac should have to do anything special for floyd just becuz floyd wants it. pac has no history of cheating. if i'm an honest, hard working man accused of cheating, i would be offended and i wouldnt cave in to unprecendented demands either.

2 - isnt testing b4 and immediately after the fight enough? isnt the testing the boxing commision has been doin for years enough? if its not, why not take it up with them instead of pac?

for me the main reason is better match ups. theres no ducking in the ufc, the fight you wanna see usually gets made. gsp, penn, silva have been cleaning out their divisions. lesnar takin on #1 ranked carwin. machida/rua having an immediate rematch. evans/rampage. the only exception you could argue is fedor cuz hes not in the ufc. but if he were you can bet he would be fighting lesnar ASAP.
in boxing big fights sometimes dont get made cuz of BS. pac/pbf, nard/rj II(shoulda happen sooner), klit/haye(haye pulls out twice), pwill/pavlik(i think it would have been fight of the year). the BS politcis in boxing and the way fighters can duck each other kills the sport. even shane/pbf shoulda happened sooner.
i love both, but mma is delivering the fights fans wanna see consistently, while boixng is doin it in spurts.
Were you just about to fight your boss? Or compete with him in some way? Did he have reason to suspect you? Would you be rewarded with a gigantic bonus and career opportunity for partaking in the tests?
Also, boxing and an office job are two very different things with different ways of operating. I'm sorry but I've heard that analogy on here a few times and it sucks.
i'm just usin as an example to say i can see where pac would find it insulting and disrespectful. pac trains hard, give 100% to be the best he can be, then gets accused of cheating.
i side with pac for refusing to do something nobody else has ever had to do. and on floyds side, pac agreed to testing immediately after and before, thats not enough to satisfy him? why?

ive been saying this for a while, pwill should pull a tarver and stalk floyd at every fight and press conference. he should mention floyd every chance he gets. instead i rarely hear him mention floyd, disappointing cuz thats the fight ive wanted to see more than any other

great performance by floyd, but this was not his greatest win. beating a monster in corrales, who was undefeated and in his prime was more impressive than an almost 40 shane, past his prime.
No, Barrera was in his prime. Plus Pacquiao was the underdog.
This, pac pulled a major upset here. floyd beating shane is something that most of are expecting. the only way floyd MIGHT could possibly out do what pac did to MAB is if he brutally KO's shane.
