OK, so me and my friend is in this big argument about what is better, boxing or UFC/MMA. of course im picking boxing.
my problem is that i dont have too much knowledge about MMA than what ive read here from you guys. so what i want this thread to be all about is all the arguments for or against whatever you likes best.
Examples:
Technique/skill
Money (doesnt have anything to do with much, but just to show how deep this thread is.)
well, everything really. anything that can help me convince him boxing is a better sport to follow.
by all means, if you do like MMA better, please state why. this is absolutely no hate thread against either sport. :)
i am basically asking for upsides and downsides about both sports, and YOUR opinion on the matter. :)
lets shoot for the biggest Boxing vs MMA thread!

I enjoy watching both. I don't really see why there's an argument as to which sport is better except for promoters who want to sell more tickets. Both sports can co-exist IMO.
i love both, but right now, i'm watchin more mma.
for me the main reason is better match ups. theres no ducking in the ufc, the fight you wanna see usually gets made. gsp, penn, silva have been cleaning out their divisions. lesnar takin on #1 ranked carwin. machida/rua having an immediate rematch. evans/rampage. the only exception you could argue is fedor cuz hes not in the ufc. but if he were you can bet he would be fighting lesnar ASAP.
in boxing big fights sometimes dont get made cuz of BS. pac/pbf, nard/rj II(shoulda happen sooner), klit/haye(haye pulls out twice), pwill/pavlik(i think it would have been fight of the year). the BS politcis in boxing and the way fighters can duck each other kills the sport. even shane/pbf shoulda happened sooner.
i love both, but mma is delivering the fights fans wanna see consistently, while boixng is doin it in spurts.
boxing is better to me but I like the MMA to both are great sports and both take tremendous skills boxing more so but bJJ and wrestiling and all the others thing aren't easy to do niether so it will always be a debate it just depends what you like
You're on a boxing forum soooo...
That said
Top level and even mid level boxing money > UFC/MMA money. I remember watching an old Mayweather video and he was going against either Corley or Ndou. They made something like 175k for the fight, and Mayweather made like around 3-4 million. This was when he was more or less unknown to the mainstream and even then 3-4 million dollars would be a better paycheck than than any MMA fighter.
Guys like Khan are making bank, and he isn't even big outside of Great Britain and parts of Eurasia or whatever country he derives from.
Technique and Skill level I think Top level boxers are more ahead than top level MMA fighters, but that's because they train in boxing and boxing only. MMA fighters train in a variety of different martial arts, but most of those guys would get sparked if they actually tried to fight in a pure Muay Thai competition or a pure Kickboxing competition.
MMA is just starting though so no doubt as kids start training in it, the skill level will go up.
BTW the two sports can coexist
you actually summed that up quite well
i like rampage for what it's worth he's a character oh yeah and kimbo slice lol:boxing:

To its credit it does seem to attract top level BJJ and top level Wrestlers. The grappling is all good, but the striking could use work.

I think I fully understood the sport. The pitcher here is clearly helping the catcher give himself head.

hehe, im sorry man.
ive already made up my mind myself,
its just that my friend is getting on my last nerves, and someone has to educate him, so im asking all of you for help :D
