Obviously Goldenboy is going with Showtime. Years ago it was revealed thru court documents that Canelo makes up over 90% of all Goldenboy revenue. Showtime provides a proven PPV model, has access to the best competition for Canelo/Goldenboy stable & Osacar has had nothing but praise for Showtime.
He should leave to fight on a app right after PBC signed a deal with Fox/Showtime? Is this a joke?
Anyways, he will have a "stay busy" fight in December and fight Porter in spring 2019.
Just a heads up on this card:
PBC on FS1 - August 24 Card - 90 Minute Prelims Telecast Added
https://www.boxingscene.com/pbc-on-fs1-august-24-card-90-minute-prelims-telecast-added--131080
The prelims will start at 6:30pm et. That's 3:30pm pt out here in Vegas where i'm at.
Real boxing fans always knew this dude was overrated and would get exposed when he moved up in weight. You simply cannot be a elite fighter with a terrible defense. He's a great fighter just not a "pound for pound best in the world" type of dude what people made him out to be.
Oh and remember, just 2 years ago he fought Valentin Leon who at the time had 29 loses!
Ya, i thought Top Rank went to ESPN to give boxing a more mainstream position in the sports world. Instead, they're locking all of their big fighters outside of Loma behind a paywall. The only benefit is the $5 a month charge which is good if you're use to paying $60 for a HBO or Showtime PPV.
Man, the communication from Showtime/PBC about these cards is confusing.
I'm getting different info from all over the place.
The promo says it starts at 10pm BOTH eastern and pacific time which makes not sense.
Dillian Whyte and Hearn are flat out lying about this offer and once again, clowns are eating it up!
Whyte is ALREADY scheduled to fight on the Crawford/Indongo under-card in August.
"The show will also feature returns for Bryant Jennings, Nicholas Walters, Dillian Whyte, and Shakur Stevenson, and will take place at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska."
https://www.badlefthook.com/2017/6/30/15898278/lomachenko-marriaga-crawford-indongo-set-for-espn-in-august
No they're not... Hearn's plan was always for Whyte to fight an introductory fight on the Crawford/Indongo card in August against a nobody and then line up a fight for late September (which is where they're chasing Wilder for).
Hearn has had numerous interviews discussing his plans for Whyte so all of what i'm saying is out on the public domain so you might want to actually get a clue before calling others clowns.
Do you even follow boxing? You actually believe that Whyte is gonna fight on August 19th, then a month later fight Wilder? That's not how boxing works and quite frankly, it's laughable that you believe that.
PBC and Top Rank are really the only two who can pull off free boxing. Golden Boy's fights so far on ESPN have been mostly trash with VERY low ratings. Boxing sites don't really cover them. They just don't have the star power outside of Canelo & Cotto and those two are on HBO. They won't be around much longer.
If Joe Smith Jr. wins against Barrera then Ward should fight him this fall.
Stevenson needs to fight his mandatory, Alverez this fall.
If both Ward/Stevenson win they unify spring 2018.
Kovalev should fight the undefeated Marcus Browne. Winnable fight for him yet still not a "stay busy" easy fight.
Loma and Gonzalez already have fights so they're outta the picture for Rigo.
In my opinion him and Leo Santa Cruz need to fight. Leo's high punch output will make Rigo throw more making it a more exciting fight.
For those that don't know how ratings work, having the NFL Hall of Fame before the fight SHOULD'VE HELPED IT by getting lead-in viewers!
These numbers are god awful when you consider that.
As far as ESPN goes, they did a incredible job promoting Loma. He was all over ESPN for the week leading up to the fight so i can't blame them for anything.
The only real issue was the really late start time. Out here in Cali it started a little after 9pm so the east coast start time was midnight. That''s way too late.
Overall, i enjoyed the card but other time-zones probably didn't bother.
If the result would of been the same make the fight at 154. He didn't and thats why he can't get credit
The only people complaining about a "catchweight" are clowns on the internet.
End of discussion.
it was good while it lasted... Canelo lost, he didnt deliver, he just lost his following. There is no one worthy of fighting Floyd, he is the best "at catch me if u can", we all know the outcomes for his next fights. Floyd is too scared of Pacquiao and we all know Danny doesnt stand a chance.
boxing is dead except for the hardcores. dang. Matthyse a KO artist couldve been a interesting match for floyd but he got beat up too so there goes that
and the corrupt judge didnt make boxing look good either
Your whole entire post is garbage with the exception of the last part about the judge.
#1 - Just because Canelo lost doesn't mean his career is over. Damn near every fighter has at-least one lose on their record. Same thing with Lucas.
#2 - Floyd just fought a dude 13yrs younger and 15lb's heavier but he's "scared of Pacquiao"?
#3 - This has been one of the best years in boxing by far and we still got Bradley,Marquez,Pacquiao,Tyson Fury,Broner,etc... fights to come.
every boxer manny has fought,he has looked bad against.morrales, marquez, bradley lol.dude isnt beating any technicians with his wild ass technique
Agree with this post.
Oh look, another delusional Lucas fan.
Anyways, let's keep it real...
Lucas has great power and a solid chin but lacks boxing skills.
If his promoters are smart they'll put him in the ring with "brawlers" on future under-cards & we'll be treated to some devastating knockouts.
It's as simple as that!
Can you guys please STOP with the Cotto-Canelo nonsense?
Cotto is Top Rank and Canelo is Goldon Boy, it isn't happening.
Talk about some realistic options.
Google it, it's common knowledge, people were shocked that HBO didn't ask for options on Cotto.
I've already googled it and Cotto has stated that he wants to finish his career with Top Rank.
He says it in the video below which was from a few weeks ago:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9y0btHNe1aA
I guess their's a chance that he'll change his mind but he doesn't seem like the type that would go back on his word.
EDIT: Steve Kim just chimed in on Twitter with this.
"Ok, is Cotto a 'free agent' or not? I hear differing things. If he is, if HBO paid over $3 million with no futures, people should be fired"
https://twitter.com/stevemaxboxing
I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
I'm sorry but Manny is officially a complete joke.
Anyone with half a brain knows that Arum is the ONLY reason the fight isn't happening. I mean seriously, why do you guys think Manny only fights Top Rank fighters? LOL. Leaving top rank could open up Broner,Canelo,Danny Garcia,Thurman,Maidana,Guerrero,Khan,Mayweather,etc.... fights but instead he wants to stay with TR and keep fighting re-treads.
who from GBP is fighting other fighter from TR or other promotion company??
That was the whole point of my post. LOL. Arum is the sole reason these companies don't do business with each other.
Example: Cotto wanted Floyd so he left TR and got it. Simple & Easy.
Is anyone really surprised by this?
Bradley is a boxing star but NOT a superstar.
Pacquaio is coming off a lackluster performance against Rios in China (most boxing fans still haven't even seen that fight) & a devastating KO via Marquez. Also, you don't give rematches to dude's that you beat "convincingly". That in itself is just bad business. Oh and then their's the laughable under-card.
You guys are now looking at the label on Floyd's jeans and making a damn thread about it?
:wtf::wtf:
http://www.howardforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=84281&d=1345911106
Let's be realistic.
Porter has a MANDATORY fight against Kell Brook so that's off the table.
Pacquiao has one fight left on his Top Rank/HBO contract so that's not happening.
If Lara beats Canelo in July can he be ready by early September? Nope!
If Cotto beats Sergioin July can he be ready by early September? Nope!
Sergio, if he beats Cotto, has one fight left on his HBO contract so that's not happening.
With all of that said that leaves us with Amir Khan.
If Khan has a spectacular/impressive win against Callazo then he's a shoe-in for the September fight. If he loses or is lackluster then it wouldn't shock me if Floyd didn't fight again until May 2015. That would allow some of those lesser dude's (Porter,Thurman,etc...) to build up hype with wins & for those Top Rank contracts to expire.
See this is the type of thread i like.
People always accuse him of "ducking" someone but when you ask them to pick a better opponent they can't or they foolishly pick a Top Rank fighter knowing damn well that they don't do business with each other.
Simply put, Maidana is CLEARLY the best fight available with Khan being a close second and Lara 3rd.
500k.
That's a very solid number but by Manny standards it's a flop.
Tough to sell a fight with only two dude's on the card being known and one of those guys (Bradley) having a "questionable" fanbase.
Manny “My next move depends on my promoter Bob Arum”Pacquiao
The harsh reality is that Pacquiao's next fight will be the winner of the Marquez vs. Alvarado fight.
