No surprise. People will make excuses but Lomachenko is a nobody compared to Pacquiao. Top Rank is only pulling those numbers from Pacquiao-Horn if Pacquiao fights on ESPN again.
Your comparing a 10 fight guy to one who had 30 before anyone knew him
ESPN fucked up having the NFL HOF ceremony on the same network of channels as this card on the same day.
It's probably been said a million times already in this thread.
I think there was women's division 3 softball on ESPN2 when I started to get concerned about it even being shown.:lol1:
Boxing is becoming more of a niche sport by the day.
And the lower weight classes aren't going to be able to carry it, here in the US.
:nonono: :nonono:
I don't mind his pigment.
I just hate bias and double standards. That's not Lomachenko's fault, though...it's the fault of certain media people and fans.
There's a lot of truth to that.
Lomachenko seems like a nice guy and he's a very good fighter but it's his pigment that pisses some of us off.

Eleven pages in and no one has identified a fighter who has pulled in higher ratings and pay in just his tenth fight. A fight that was pre-empted by football HOF induction ceremony and didn't start until 1230 on a Saturday night versus an obscure no-hoper. Anyone?
Posting this "in just his tenth fight" is an unfair comparison. He isn't getting the purses he is because of his ability to draw fans. He is being fast tracked because he came in the pros much older than others. Most fighters in their 10th pro fight are between the ages of 18 and 21. They don't have all the experience he has nor are they backed by a powerful promoter.
He is a great talent without question. his purses reflect his promoter's willingness to overpay to keep him away from other promotional companies. His ratings frankly should be better given the incredible marketing push and prime spots HBO and now ESPN have given him.
Maybe he doesn't deserve the paydays he is getting when he is only putting 4,000 people in seats, not counting the comps. Maybe its unfair that he never had to climb the ranks like others but got fights based on who his promoter is.
Stop kissing ass for once in your life.
Loma is no KID....he's 30 y/o....it's not our fault he stayed in the amateurs for 400 fights
Lmao You have me mistaken for some whole other body, son.
How long Vasyl stayed in the amateurs is irrelevant to this discussion. The fact is, he's unknown for the reasons I stated. Pretty understandable.
No one cares about these Eastern european fighters in America I don't know why they keep trying to push them not one even the great Wladimir Klitscho has become a US star.
Is that really the standard? Number of fights? We're just trying to compare to the PBC cards on ESPN.
It certainly matters when it comes to ratings. How can you even deny that? You don't get to cherry pick which components of ratings matter and which do not. How many PBC fighters have ten fights and pull down 750K viewers after midnight?

PBC numbers for a Euro bum fighting some bum Mexican....not bad I'd say.
But on a more serious note, I'm a fan and I almost went to sleep, few of my friends went home because it was just too late.
Also I didn't know which fecking channel it was on, I saw some American football hall of fame nonsense and didn't know wtf was going on so I gave up on ESPN.
So ESPN failed.
In the end I found a Boxnation stream but that was still damn late, and me knowing what the outcome was going to be I was very close to calling it a night myself.
ESPN is not showtime or HBO, I don't believe that crowd will stay up that late for fights.
With Showtime and HBO they get subscribers just because of boxing, not so with ESPN, those are just your regular sports fans, if they want to target that audience **** needs to be on at 9 or 10 PM EST.
The Media also told people for months that Hillary Clinton would win and Trump had no chance (Not To Make Things Political FUK Politics And The People In It!). Yeah with this thing called Social Media now, I would say the media us USELESS NOW and no longer have the Power or Influence over the people they once had. You can't lie to the people live during the Broadcast telling them they're seeing one thing but it is Thousands of people Tweeting out something else or Tweeting how Bias a Broadcast is. The Arrogance of some within the media especially Fat Dan is actually kinda funny because he THINKS he has some type of POWER over fans and he really don't!
It is quite funny. Dan can't move the needle much at all anymore. But there's still plenty of fans who internalize the anti-PBC the media puts out..
That's because the boxing media has trained most of the fans to reflexively hate the PBC while riding the jock of all the other promoters. Dan Rafael didn't even mention the ratings on his twitter this morning. Had it been a PBC card he would already have 5 articles up on it and tweeting the universe..

He is a 130 lbs Fighter! He will never be a Major Draw at that weight! Some fans just refuse to be realistic and they're only making their favorite fighters look bad with some of the stuff the say/post on the internet.
No the Hall Of Fame Ceremony didn't hurt, in fact I would say the Hall of Fame Ceremony probably gave it a ratings boost when they switched back to ESPN right after the Ceremony!
So those numbers considering the fact that he is in a Small Division that Casuals never cared about EVER, are Decent I would say :dunno:
Don't like fans ****ting on PBC Ratings but try to Praise other ratings and Vice Versa that shows that many particularly on this forum are not truly boxing fans if you root for boxing to fail in anyway!

What kills me in other rating threads when boxing has competition from real sports like college football, NFL, or playoff baseball or basketball boxing is just supposed to overcome that and do good rating when a certain outlet does fights. That gets called an excuse not a reason.
Now a fight has to compete against Jerry Jones talking and that is pulling people away? Not Jerry Jones playing football, not his team playing football, Jerry Jones talking about the past. That should have minimal effect because someone who wants to actually see sports action is going to choose the competition not the talking. It might have been a poor lead in and it going over probably wasn't good because people were bored but if something runs long on ESPN which happens a lot it normally ends up on ESPN 2 or ESPNews anyone that watches ESPN would know that without a scroll bar at the bottom of the screen.
It would have been nice if it did better, but poor fight, weak undercard and late start tell the tale. Plus Lomachenko isn't a draw he needs to pretty much run a gauntlet to prove he is the fighter most including myself think he is then he will be able to draw a bit better against random opposition.
