I remember when all promoters where talking crazy about pbc and free boxing now 2 years later everyone wants to put boxing on free tv I remember GBP and top rank hating now both promoters got fights on free cable
Thank you al for the PAC vs horn fight even tho Toprank promoted the fight
You help boxing move forward and the other guys behind you will keep it going hopefully
showtime is paying haymon more than ever and CBS is paying for a huge show once a year as well. FOX will most likely be buying a bigger PBC package in 2018 as well.
told you guys
which is exactly why haymon had no problem leaving espn open in the settlement. he knows espn is slashing spending left and right and fs1 was way more likely to loosen the purse strings to try to gain ground on espn.
espn getting into boxing, while paying nothing, still puts pressure on fs1 to one up them in the boxing sphere, even if they have to spend to do it.
Yup. They've doubled the shows on FS1 as well.
And they still have a Fox date this fall.
I think everyone went gaga for the deal initially because they thought we would see Canelo and Cotto on ESPN. LOL.
Pretty sure no one thought that.
Cotto wasn't even signed to GBP when the GBP/ESPN deal was announced.
That lawsuit got GBP and TR on ESPN.
Certainly seems to have played a part.
Top Rank settled with Haymon in May 2016.
Golden Boy started negotiating with ESPN soon after that.
All part of Haymon's plan.
GBP's ESPN shows are their prospect shows for Latino fighters. I think everyone went gaga for the deal initially because they thought we would see Canelo and Cotto on ESPN. LOL.
They are basically PBC's Tuesday night shows for Latino fighters. It's a decent little niche but with some very obvious limitations. The ratings have actually been decent for what they are..
The ratings have been abysmal. One week they were 150th...out of 150.
PBC and Top Rank are really the only two who can pull off free boxing. Golden Boy's fights so far on ESPN have been mostly trash with VERY low ratings. Boxing sites don't really cover them. They just don't have the star power outside of Canelo & Cotto and those two are on HBO. They won't be around much longer.

The PBC's goal was to keep Top Rank and Golden Boy off networks like ESPN.
They're now both on ESPN's networks.
Thanks Al Haymon!

Don't sound so naive mate, hes a bussinessman, not a philanthropist. I assure you he is doing what is most profitable for him, had PPV been more beneficial he would be doing that.
Dan Rafael wrote a few stories that piece together details. He also mentioned them paying for fights and making a big push in boxing this week in the chat.
Yeah, he mentioned them buying fights and I heard as many as three although it's unclear which ones are paid for. Nothing long term.
I missed that press release and stand corrected. What are the terms of this deal and where do you find it?
