MIGUEL "EL ANGEL" COTTO
VS

DELVIN RODRIGUEZ
It's a money fight that makes sense in NY and he'll make as much if not more than he did against Margo II.
If they price the even correctly, they can get 30k+
Shoot, Margo/Cotto II got 22k and sold out
He made 2 M + added profits from the gate for Rodiriguez, I expect him to make about 8 M for Sergio while Sergio gets about 4 M.
I think they could get more than 30K, putting this on weekend of the Puerto Rican Day Parade would really help. Promoted correctly, I could see 40K.
His drawing power is as high as ever. A lot of people are going to see him make history against Maravilla in NYC.

Cotto vs Rodriguez does 1.55m, the second highest HBO non-PPV ever. This was only second to Miguel's vs Trout fight!

Anybody know attendance of the fight and how big the venue was? Rewatching it and damn was it loud and looking packed
It was packed full and very loud..Cotto's following is almost that of a fighter like Hatton so you can imagine how crazy loud it was

11,912. More seating was made available two weeks before and it still sold out.

They mentioned during the fight that the venue was sold out don't know how big the venue is but I'm guessing around 15k
Just watched the fight last night and cotto really put a beating on Delvin. Rodriguez was out of his league and it showed he couldn't do anything. IMO he was done after taking those shots in the second round his body language in his corner indicated to me he wanted so I say it was a good stoppage by the ref. definetely a motivating win for cotto hopefully they can work out a Canelo fight or a Martinez match up
Cotto is not proven to me yet, it was impressive, but we need to see his pace by the 8th round..
This is true and it remains to be seen if that intensity of attack costs him vs bigger punching fighters. In truth he still has all the problems he had before Rodriguez - His scar tissue and tendency to swell, the fact that he's so short at the weight and despite still having good pop in his shots not as much as in previous divisions imo. His confidence must be high right now and he looked reinvigorated with Freddie Roach. Big tests and questions lay ahead and knowing Miguel he wont be wasting his last few fights in anything less than the first class contests that have been the staple of his great career. Wat a fighter....
#WARCOTTO
That was Gangsta.
Everybody doubting him, even us loyal fans, the most were picking him on points or late on but he comes out no music - "Im just here to Fight!", brings the old intensity and lets rip to the body getting himself a KO finish real early in the 3rd round! Brilliant.
:boxing:
Delvin said on Golpe a Golpe (ESPN) last night after the fight that he never imagined that Cotto hit that hard, he was amazed his speed and movement was well.
Also, he looked still hurt by the hooks.

Man if he could move back to 147 he would kill it.
I think he can but it depends on the opponent. That left hook at the end of round 2 would have decapitated a welterweight.

This was an impressive performance but the over hyping is absurd.
Exactly. This wasn't a better version than the guy that lost to Floyd, and then Trout. Same fighter that was at 147 too. Destroys the second tier guys, shows his flaws with the tops guys.
mfker this is boxing EVERY punch is potential brain damage, the boxers know that stepping into the ring
actually, single shots don't cause brain damage, or aren't likely to
have you researched CTE at all?
boxers won't get brain damage by taking a massive shot, it's repetitive sub-concussive hits to the brain that causes it
you can die from a single shot, but it would most likely be due to brain hemorrhage or something spine related
