GGG to ESPN is a no brainer for everyone involved.
GGG can use the ESPN hype machine to sell his since revoked bogey man status, together, he and Arum can pick and choose opponents, and extend GGG's career while fighting in front of a huge audience every time out.
GGG can help ESPN/Top Rank launch the eventual PPV platform, all they need is a faded big name, which could be a financial boon for ESPN.
GGG going to Showtime would be the end of his career in brutal fashion, way to much young talent for him to take such a risk, he just got his butt kicked, no need to suffer a worse fate at the hands of Charlo, or Hurd, or anyone of those young monsters.
DAZN is out, they dont have a stable, they are years away from being major players, the entire network is predicated upon the success of a chinny heavyweight champion that struggles with old men, and ducks serious challengers, it's a very fluid situation, not the type of security a boxing geezer like GGG needs.
I am willing to bet on it, GGG to ESPN
You call what he has a title? you actually would call him the WBA champion over Canelo, you can't be serious.
Your trippin
I don't like it but it's considered a title. At the very least, beating Murata would help get rid of the title once he fights Canelo again next fight.
Murata has a title and is a top 10 MW. As a stopgap to a 3rd Canelo fight, I think it's fine.

I think he retires.
He just made in excess of $50 million for his 2 fights with Canelo. Is it really feasible for a 36 or 37 year old fighter to go through another training camp to make what 4 or 5 million? Maybe he could get more for Murata but I would not be surprised one bit if he says "peace out"
That fight would be a pure money grab, it would have to zero to do with glory, I am not sure GGG has to gain beyond a decent financial package.
If the Japanese put up like $25 million for the fight, and GGG gets an 80/20 split plus gate and TV money, it's worth it, if not, GGG should negotiate matchmaking rights with ESPN, and fight a more high profile opponent.

GGG should sign with Showtime. Charlo went to war with Martirosyan and got a gift. GGG would smash him like a butter pumpkin.
1. brutalize Hurd in a tune-up
2. school the Charlo twins
3. turn Spence into a train wrack
4. retire
That should be the plan.
If GGG is this washed up old geezer who needs his opponents cherry picked for him that you say he is why would you even give a fuc what network he fights for? Nobody starts threads about a boxer they think is finished. I'll bet GGG's next opponent will be a better fighter than Canelo's next opponent who will probably be Lemieux, a guy GGG already slaughtered.

I am willing to bet on it, GGG to ESPNYou are clearly another GGG hater trying to make him sound so bad. I like GGG and I don't think he ever deserved to lose a fight or get a draw. As for all your young monsters, they aren't monsters. Hurd has done nothing at middleweight. He is a good young fighter but not in GGG's class yet. He is ridiculously easy to hit and he can't match GGG in either chin or power. Jermall has yet to beat a good middleweight. GGG would still be the betting favorite against any middleweight in the world with the possible exception of Canelo. Let Jermall actually do something before you crown him with monster status. He couldn't even hurt Trout so I doubt GGG loses any sleep worrying about fighting him.GGG may well join ESPN but not to cherry pick. He will try to win another world title at 160 and I bet he will succeed.
GGG vs Murata would be a decent fight in like January/February before a rematch with Canelo next May.

That's ShoBox. When's the last time Showtime aired a single Showtime Championship Boxing or Showtime PPV fight where one of the fighters wasn't under Haymon?
This year. Nov 17. And if Devin Haney keeps it up, he'll be on SHO Championship Boxing sooner than later.
I think that Murata fight in Japan alone makes GGG to ESPN the most obvious guess on where HBO guys end up.
I think there is a lot of sh^t up in the air doe so I wouldn't be shocked if GGG lands on DAZN or some new entity or if HBO even makes a deal for a third PPV fight cuz HBO didn't entirely shut the door on boxing if its a big enough PPV fight. Although they didn't specifically mention GGG vs Canelo III in their example which might be a sign they aren't looking to do anything like that anytime soon idk.
Good post, you make some very solid points
Everyone's going to ESPN or DAZN. When has Haymon ever showed an interest in showcasing other promoters' fighters?
Showtime puts in cards that are not PBC related. There's one on tomorrow with Devin Haney.
I think DAZN will be aggressive in looking to sign him. Their problem has been signing star fighters, either because they haven't been available or just not willing out of a sense of loyalty to Haymon. The network will know that Andrade and Vargas aren't going to drive a lot of subscriptions. But Canelo and GGG will and they've been served up to them on a plate. I wouldn't be surprised if DAZN sanctioned significant extra money to secure them, because if Showtime signs both it massively sets DAZN back.

Who is there for him to fight on ESPN though?
Murata doesn't need to fight Golovkin yet, if we're honest about it, Jermall Charlo is with Haymon, Derevyanchenko is with Haymon, Jacobs is likely 1-2 fights away from being back in the Haymon fold, Andrade is with Hearn, Saunders is with Warren (who did just sign a partnership deal with Top Rank for US TV, so that's an option), and then you've got Alvarez floating around.
vs Saunders in the UK, and vs Murata in Japan, likely won't be worth what Golovkin is gonna ask
ggg to espn seems like the most logical from a brand standpoint.....gggs name rings bells with crawford and loma....hes a perfect guy for them to add to that duo and make it a trio of "star power"......ggg vs murata has ESPN written all over it...also maybe some fights against zurdo or uzecategui(im guessing these are not likely direction for his team but still a shot)
