If Tony blows this opportunity to fight Vitali by asking for 50/50 it would be just plain stupid, i mean what other options does he have. None of the other champions want a fight with him so he wouldn't fight byrd or brewster; plus he isn't allowed to fight for the wba belt for another 2 years. Toney has nowhere to go without this fight, if he doesn't take it he should retire.
Marciano beating Tyson? Maybe, but not the likeliest of outcomes if you ask me. Tyson would outweigh Marciano but 40 lbs, all solid. He is quicker and has just as good defense and his stamina is not bad in his prime. Marciano=very hittable. Tall boxers with size had success over Tyson, and only one of those in his prime when Mike was not exactly "at his best" in many people's opinions.
Marciano never had to deal with someone like Tyson in his era. I'm not sure he could. Heart only gets you so far. Whatever happened it would be damned quick and hellacious is what I would say.
How about Holyfield? He handled Tyson and hes not exactly a superheavyweight; all it took was some skill and determination. I think the Rock was every bit Evander's equal in each each of those things except Rock hit a hell of a lot harder. The Rock would crush Mike's body and spirit.
the thread is about the lewis vs klitschko fight; i thought it might help people who hadn't seen the fight who are looking at this to know that i had uploaded it and am currently seedin it. i was just trying to be helpful man, don't see why you'd want to protect this thread like it was your anal virginity
The big thing all of you guys are missing is Cotto isn't top 5. That guy is one dimensional and as soon as he fights anybody better than Chop Chop its going to show. Any of you see that Cotto vs Corely fight. Not impressive at all. The only reason that guy does as well as he does is because he can drop a shitload of weight to fight guys who are a lot smaller than he is. If Cotto fought anybody with real power it would be his retirement fight.
Well it isn't just how badly Hopkins beat Trinidad that seperates them. Its how they did it, Hopkins dominated the entire fight and still goes for the knockout to stop a robbery. De La Hoya wins 2/3 of the fight and then decides to let his historically good standing with judges finish it up for him. Bernard is an excellent competitor, De La Hoya tried to fight smart but relied on other people(judges) to win for him. The man who deserved to be Trinidad more ended up winning.
Hate to say it, the ref is going to have a big influence on this fight. If he lets Ruiz get away with the shit he pulled on Golota its going to make this an uphill battle for Toney. On the other hand if the ref messes up Ruiz's game plan like he did with the Jone's fight, Toney will be on easy street. I think that the difference is Toney has the skill to possibly take out Ruiz even if he pulls out all the cheap shit.
If there were no more meaningful fights for Tito from 160-168, why come back now? The division isn't really any stronger now than it was. Does anybody really think that beating Ricardo "The Human Punching Bag" Mayorga did anythying for his career? Hell no. All of that stuff about Tito wanting an immediate rematch is bullshit. Of course B-Hop wanted to fight his mandatories first, if he didn't he would get stripped of his titles. If Tito had wanted a rematch he would have stuck around a year or so until B-Hop could schedule a fight with him. Trinidad is just waiting for Hopkins to get old because he still remembers getting his ass kicked.
The only time I've ever enjoyed watching Ruiz fight is when Tua knocked his ass out. B-Hop is fun too watch, even when the pace in the fight isn't too fast you have to appreciate the skill and timing.
probly wants to get into the download section
i'm already there, see my shitty torrents ratio? just trying to fix that and thought somebody might want the fight
I don't see how anybody could call him the best. Break down his style and there is just no way he could beat and old Foreman(who in my opinion is number 2 of all time). Ali could have put him away too. Tyson was an extremely gifted freak show who was built to destroy the fighters of his era.
foreman has no tactic at all, he was always storming and punch all he had the first 2-3 round and he went out of gas like he did against ali.
ali is fast and got a lion heart, i mean he keep fight even when his jaw was broken ;), but he didnt had the ko punch like mike, ali got problem against frazer a prime tyson is much better than frazer, so prime tyson would give ali a very tough fight.
tyson in his prime didnt had a lion heart like ali, but he was invicinble combination with a lot of head movement+ko punch+fast+killer instinct.
Tyson had plenty of stamina, people are fooled by the Ali fight - nobody could have sustained a work rate with that kind of power behind it longer than Foreman did. P.S. Foreman managed to crush Moorer at the end of their fight, he was deadly no matter the round.
I bet Evaluev could beat him. They are both fairly unskilled boxers who are physically freaks of nature, the difference between them is Evaluev is a bigger freak. Vitali relies on his size to give him an advantage over his opponents; when on the small end of a size mismatch vitali doesn't have the technical skills to come out with the win. This would be a battle of rock'em sock'em robots with one just being bigger than the other.
jirov should be in prison. he's a loser and the dirtiest fighter i've ever seen.
nah, he should just be sent back to fuckin russia so he can starve for a while and drink himself into oblivion, oh ya and then maybe a mobster can kill him for something.
The 80''s had Larry holmes and ummmm Gerry Cooney
The 90's had Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield, Lewis, George Foreman, and Larry Holmes.
I guess I got to go with the 90's on this one.
I think you have to break up Tyson's career in halves, 80's Tyson and 90's Tyson. How would you rate the 2 against each other now?
All this talk sort of makes me wish we saw Lewis vs Wlad (before Wlad lost to Sanders). Oh well, sounds like he has the potential to regain his former self but probably won't.
The reason that Vitali is not considered a pound for pound top fighter is because if you shrunk him down to middleweight, he would get smacked down by b-hop. If Corry Spinks was physically the same as he is now, and just was a 250 pound version of himself, he would be able to destroy Vitali.
Remember, both brothers have the the dream that they will, as a team, be champions.
So Vitali will grab one other belt, and then wait for Wlad to come around, and beat the other two belt holders.
And no matter how you slice it, we all know that Wlad has the ability to beat whoever Vitali leaves open, whether it be Golota, Ruiz, Toney, or, and please God let this be the one, a rematch with Brewster.
Look for both brothers to hold all four belts by the end of the year.
Anyone wanna bet me it wont happen?
Wlad would have to fight 3 fights in a year to od this, no way this happens. The 2 brothers are some of the most inactive boxers around.
