The entire show (8:30-10 EST) which featured Wilder-Duhaupas and Breazeale-Kassi averaged 2.179M viewers and received a 0.6 rating among Adults 18-49.
I don't think it's wise to blame Showtime's ratings on Wilder since all of their fights are down right now. Comparing any Showtime fight right now to HBO or even Showtime ratings from 2 years ago won't give an accurate reading.
And the Duhaupas fight didn't produce great ratings on NBC, but who the hell is Duhaupas? That was seen as a mismatch against an unknown foreigner going into it. There are UFC on FOX cards that do close to those ratings that are loaded.
Example being UFC on Fox 16 did 2.29 million viewers (T.J. Dillashaw vs. Ranan Barao).
UFC on Fox 17 did 2.28 million viewers (Rafael dos Anjos vs Donald Cerrone). The final number was 2.8, but that 2.365 million number for Wilder/Duhaupas was a preliminary number also
final number
Wilder-Duhaupas: 2.179M Average Viewers
NBC (primetime)
3/7/2015 (main event Thurman-Guerrero): 3.374M
4/11/2015 (main event Garcia-Peterson): 2.882M
6/20/2015 (main event Broner-Porter): 2.327M
9/26/2015 (main event Wilder-Duhaupas): 2.179M
12/12/2015 (main event Figueroa-DeMarco): 1.817M
Well the UFC is a dying sport which is clearly shown in their TV ratings and PPV buys which have plummeted drastically. Their heavyweight champ for example isn't able to pull more PPV buys than a welterweight like Tim Bradley. Once GSP is out of the picture the UFC's yearly PPV buys are expected to fall drastically yet again. Their ratings on the main FOX network have also collapsed drastically going nowhere but down.
The other fight Silva vs Sonnen 2 was previously expected to break PPV records, instead it did 900k international buys. The UFC have not broken 1 million buys in a long time now. They may in fact be lucky to break even 1 million with this fight. Sonnen was a huge draw in their fight, he made it what it was. This guy Weidman has no personality. He's just another faceless fighter.
May vs Oscar did 2.6 million domestic buys. Canelo vs Pac did 2.3 million domestic buys.
Lesnar vs Mir with GSP on the undercard did 1.6 million international buys. Now given that do you really see Silva vs Weidman even getting close to 2 million.
Here's a fact for you, if May vs Canelo can hit 2.2 million buys then May vs Pac will still rape the holy hell out of any PPV in history. Canelo was nowhere near the popularity level of Pac. It had nowhere near the level of hype Pac vs May does.
Let me put it to you this way: if the UFC put their biggest draws: Jon Jones (400k buy average), Silva (500k buy average) and JDS (400k buy average) on the same card they still wouldn't beat May vs Canelo's numbers, let alone Pac vs May. FFS the UFC put their two biggest heavyweights on FOX yet they got TV ratings in the same range as a typical episode of COPS.
"David Villa (Toronto, Canada)
Hi Dan, quick question. In boxing the ppv buys announced, do they include buys from Canada?
Dan Rafael (10:33 AM)
Yes, the PPV numbers you see include Canada and Puerto Rico."
