Golden Boy Promotions recently announced that they have finalized the March 8th Showtime pay-per-view showdown between junior middleweights Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo.
Two years ago, Angulo was in an ICE detention center in El Centro, California waiting for his visa problems to be ironed out so that he could resume his career in the United States. I asked the Mexicali, Mexico native to reflect on the range of emotions he felt while inside of the detention center, not knowing when he would be released, to finding out that he was being given the biggest fight of his career.
"It was a tough experience for me and my family but thanks to God we got through it and learned from it. We worked hard and now he have this opportunity. I think that God knows that I am ready for this type of fight and he has provided me with a great opportunity," Angulo explained.
Angulo feels that the fight will be a very fan friendly fight that it will be well received by the public. He thinks that the fight will be a pay-per-view success.
"I think this fight will be big. I think it will sell very well on pay-per-view. My style with Canelo's style will make for a good fight for the fans," Angulo told BoxingScene.com.
