Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that he would like to have former champions, Abner Mares (26-1-1, 14KOs) and Robert Guerrero (31-2-1, 18KOs), make their returns on June 21 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Guerrero, who recently signed on board with adviser Al Haymon, has been out of the ring since last May's decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mares has been out of the ring since the shocking first round TKO loss to Johnny Gonzalez last August.
"I'm looking at the return of Abner Mares for that date and I'm going to be speaking with Al to see if we could have the return of Robert Guerrero," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.
One fight already set down for the previously mentioned June date is a highly anticipated featherweight clash between Vasyl Lomachenko and Gary Russell Jr., who will battle for the vacant WBO tite.
