Someone like Kovalev's fights with relative unknown opponents average around 1 million viewers. So considering all the hype that's gone into Broner and other name fighters being on the card, it's not very good.
kovalev didnt average around 1 million. he peaked at 1 million if im not mistaken. this past weekend broner peaked at 1 million. these are good numbers, especially for this year.
Exactly. At 1 time, getting in the 1.2-1.5 million range was considered just OK. Now anything approaching or over a million gets treated like it is a giant success.
only one major network then and all the big stars were there.
Now there is competition and SHO is in 8-9 million fewer homes than HBO. The deflated numbers could just be a reflection of that.

3-4 years ago Chavez Jnr and Hopkins got close to 2 million viewers
still good numbers, higher than some of their previous events
Overall though, boxing seems to be losing fans at a rapid pace, Pacquiao vs Mayweather is desperately needed for the good of the sport
They've been steadily dropping all around

No actually they are terrible. Showtime and HBO's numbers have been dismal for a couple years now except for a few events.
The viewers are dropping for both of them.

Broner, love or hate him, is an attraction. He no matter if he wins or loses should always do decent numbers. Wish he had top ranks management. They could really develop him into a superstar.
