Next week is arguably the biggest rematch ever in UFC history between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman.
If Floyd Mayweather announced tomorrow he is fighting Manny Pacquiao the same night what wins in PPV? (If someone knows of a bigger fight that could go in there in place of Floyd-Manny they can suggest it foolishly)
(No sure how to make a poll)
How many sales does it get?
LMAO @ "UFC is a dying sport". Its bigger then ever. The only reason for ratings decline is because of network changes. Any other show on TV would be making TV suicide by changing stations. Shows how strong MMA has become still being able to break a million views on 3 different networks.
Piss off haters. Stop comparing apples and oranges. I love both sports because they are different and unique. Stop catching female feelings being insecure.

With all respects, the PPVs are in the toilet. Jones just had his worst PPV numbers ever, as did Velasquez. GSP just hit his lowest number in 5 years. The sport hit a peak in 2010 and is settling in now.

It's actually smaller than it was in the last decade. MMA completely died in Japan where once upon a time they could draw 40 million viewers and fill 70k seat stadiums. MMA was brought onto Channel 5 in the UK but got cancelled due to horrible ratings. The UFC went from averaging 200-400k viewers on Bravo, then to 100k viewers on ESPN UK, and now they average 30k viewers on BT sports 2. Gates have declined. PPV numbers are shrinking. The UFC was averaging 1.5 million viewers with TUF and their prelims, now they're lucky to hit 500k.
Their so-called triumphant move to FOX exposed how small they really are. They went out their saying that from now on they will be pulling NFL size ratings and TUF would be averaging 3 million viewers on FX. Didn't happen. Instead their grandios events on FOX wound up getting beaten by re-runs of COPS, the Simpsons and Frosty the Snowman. Kimbo's fight on NBC averaged over 6 million viewers over 5 years ago, yet the UFC's big debut couldn't even match that. Their ratings in 2013 have been no better than those of Elite XC's when they made the network jump.
Fedor pulled almost 4 million viewers fighting a no name on CBS back in 2009. Yet the UFC, MMA's apparent major league, could only pull over 2 million viewers last time on FOX.
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2009/11/08/tv-ratings-saturday-strikeforce-fedor-vs-rogers-averages-3-79-million-in-prime-time-on-cbs/32941/
But the fight was more interesting than the ratings which were not through the roof (though on par with previous MMA bouts that CBS has aired, like the one with Kimbo-Slice), keeping in mind that the post 11pm portion I haven't seen yet will be higher, from 9p-11pm it averaged 3.79 million and a 1.7/6 rating share with adults 18-49. It did win the 10pm-11pm hour with adults 18-49 and had better results with men 18-34 where it won every half hour
So if MMA was doing better ratings on CBS in 2009 then how exactly are the UFC's suffering ratings on FOX a sign of growth? Do note those Fedor ratings in 2009 weren't even considered impressive ... yet the UFC is doing worse today.
I do enjoy watching the UFC but If there Is boxing on HBO or Showtime, I am going with boxing. The ufc Is good, but It doesn't give me the butterflies and keep me on the edge of my seat like a big super fight. You guys know what I mean. Your favorite fighter Is In the ring and they are doing the National Anthems and you got those butterflies going and your hearts pounding. I think I am more nervous than the fighters. There Is nothing like the drama before a big fight and there Is no card that Dana White could put together that would compete with a Pac-Mayweather fight.
The UFC's biggest card of the year is the New Year card. Usually does 800k to over a million. Anderson Silva is prob the greatest fighter ever and was knocked out acting the fool in his last fight in the summer. The rematch was signed weeks after the loss.
I really don't believe any boxing match other than Manny-Floyd would be able to compete with the UFC in sales with only one week of promotion. Canelo-Money does not do that with just a week considering the quality of entertainment of the last fight.
As far as UFC declining numbers goes, boxing may have bigger numbers on PPV but they only have maybe 3-4 events a year. UFC has a PPV every month and free shows that bring in 4-5 million viewers (and they are very often on the same night as boxing PPVs)
It honestly ain't about where it's asked.
The question though is like asking, what would get the better ratings if matched up head to head:
The Superbowl or the NBA Finals? The NBA Finals on its own does fine ratings wise but if it went head to head on the same night as the Superbowl, it would get demolished. It's just not a fair fight.
It's not the biggest rematch. It won't even beat Silva-Sonnen 2. It was the biggest rematch after the KO itself but once the adrenaline wore down and people realized that looked like the luckiest punch ever, it's now just another Anderson Silva fight.
It wouldn't do 1/6 of Pac-May numbers.
I give respect to the UFC, yes they can't compete with gbp and top rank but at least they don't have to beg networks to buy fights like Lou Dibella. Which is why i like gbp and top rank also cause like the ufc if a network decided not to buy a fight they have the resources to run the show on their own.

It gets outrated by Simpsons reruns.
Hahaha
Is this for real ?
Pac v May does $240mil just in the US
UFC does maybe $25mil if it went head to head, $40mil stand alone.
Don't forget UFC ppv figures are worldwide, boxing are US only.
Well the UFC is a dying sport which is clearly shown in their TV ratings and PPV buys which have plummeted drastically. Their heavyweight champ for example isn't able to pull more PPV buys than a welterweight like Tim Bradley. Once GSP is out of the picture the UFC's yearly PPV buys are expected to fall drastically yet again. Their ratings on the main FOX network have also collapsed drastically going nowhere but down.
The other fight Silva vs Sonnen 2 was previously expected to break PPV records, instead it did 900k international buys. The UFC have not broken 1 million buys in a long time now. They may in fact be lucky to break even 1 million with this fight. Sonnen was a huge draw in their fight, he made it what it was. This guy Weidman has no personality. He's just another faceless fighter.
May vs Oscar did 2.6 million domestic buys. Canelo vs Pac did 2.3 million domestic buys.
Lesnar vs Mir with GSP on the undercard did 1.6 million international buys. Now given that do you really see Silva vs Weidman even getting close to 2 million.
Here's a fact for you, if May vs Canelo can hit 2.2 million buys then May vs Pac will still rape the holy hell out of any PPV in history. Canelo was nowhere near the popularity level of Pac. It had nowhere near the level of hype Pac vs May does.
Let me put it to you this way: if the UFC put their biggest draws: Jon Jones (400k buy average), Silva (500k buy average) and JDS (400k buy average) on the same card they still wouldn't beat May vs Canelo's numbers, let alone Pac vs May. FFS the UFC put their two biggest heavyweights on FOX yet they got TV ratings in the same range as a typical episode of COPS.
"David Villa (Toronto, Canada)
Hi Dan, quick question. In boxing the ppv buys announced, do they include buys from Canada?
Dan Rafael (10:33 AM)
Yes, the PPV numbers you see include Canada and Puerto Rico."
UFC champ Velasquez just did less than 350k in what was his biggest fight ever. Sylvia MIGHT do 750 but it's unlikely. Mayweather, on a bad night, eviscerates most UFC events.
Next week is arguably the biggest rematch ever in UFC history between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman.

A red is coming your way as soon as it's possible, for asking such a stupid question it isn't even funny in a trolling sense. The very fact you dare provoke the visual of anything MMA to boxing fans on NSB should be a bannable offense.
WAR Boxing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty sure Wrestlemania 30 will sell more than any ufc event in 2014.
hell the past the 3 Wrestlemanias is gonna end up doing more because God decided to return to host and main event a couple Manias..
