Obviously, they should fight until someone quits. Or gets knocked out. We don't need judges in boxing. Who are the judges to decide who won the fight anyway???
Converting to a new religion as an adult tells me that people don't have faith in themselves or their abilities, even moreso than adults who believe in whatever religion was forced upon them as a child. You can be a good and humble person without believing in some "greater power". I'm pretty sure if gods did exist, they don't bet on sports or have favorites.
If Beterbiev vs Bivol happens & Beterbiev doesn't KO Bivol I'mma be rooting for the judges to rob Bivol on principle for his crimes against boxing fans with his boring ass fights.
It's never good for boxing when a fighter is robbed. Bivol isn't must-see TV for me but at least he doesn't clinch the entire fight. Bivol versus a random Euro guy type fights are usually going the distance, so it's a good time to run out and grab food/drinks before the main event.
Why? Because you know the result and that it will be a master-class or skill and distance management?
Yes, but also that it's most likely going the distance. He hasn't stopped anyone in almost 6 years.
I am hoping to see Miller die in the ring today. Amazing that a guy with a big mouth and zero accomplishments gets so many opportunities even after getting busted 3 times for failed DRUG TESTS. It's a drug test, all you British morons out there. DRUG TESTING.
You could be on to something. I've been having my way a bit with Pacquiao in sparring, but I'm not Broner. A lot of these big names are just natural athletes. They're dumb as hell, and most of their opponents are dumber. Do you think Paulie Malignaggi would be a lowly commentator if he could hit hard??
No problem for me. He is just being a promoter and probably doesn't believe his own BS. Once he makes a statement like that he looks stupid if Crawford loses. He also said Loma was better than Mayweather so any Loma loss makes him look stupid.
This may be open for actual discussion. What a friggin fight at 130/135 that would be. I don't even know who I would pick. Maybe the ring would cave in having that amount of boxing IQ inside of it all at once.
He's just doing his job. He said the same things about Oscar and Mayweather. What do you want him to say..."My fighter sucks 8 bags of dicks and isn't fit to drive a cab"?
Disagree Mayweather and McGregor are big big names even among casual sport fans.
There is a dearth of relatable combat sports figures is the issue. Mayweather is big in the black community and McGregor has a huge following among the white boy frat types.
Nobody relates to the awkward mumbling 6'7" beanpole Wilder for example.
Canelo however has those all-american looks doesn't look like a "******" as the stereotype many Americans have towards mexicans.
He could be big in mainstream america if he could just communicate in English.
I don't think speaking English would really make much of a difference. People tend to dislike him because he's always getting controversial decisions in his favor. I went to see Golovkin vs Canelo 2 at the movie theater. I live in a very white area, not one single person was rooting for Canelo. He definitely looks more white/American than Golovkin haha.
I'm not even sure how Canelo being mainstream in America would benefit boxing. You would just get more mismatches to keep the milk flowing from the cash cow.
No, I think that most people just don't care about combat sports. It's pretty rare for me to hear people discussing boxing or MMA in public.
Also, De La Hoya won a gold medal in the Olympics. Back then, the Olympics was definitely more popular and the boxing wasn't shown on some random channel like NBC sports at 2am or whatever.
Not really, I never thought they were good to begin with. They're at the same level as guys like Vanes Martirosyan and Austin Trout. I would totally expect them to have a close fight with a primer Ishe Smith. I mean Tony Harrison just had a split decision win over Smith in his fight before Charlo.
They young doe.
Where did I bring up Joshua or Wilder vs Joshua or hint at ducking at all or suggest it is or isn't okay in that post you quoted?
Incredible you took that angle with what I said.
Dude, it's right there in black and white! Are you related to Breazele or something? GOSH!
These guys were never as good as the their fans made them out to be. It's crazy how hyped they were. I mean these guys would probably struggle with the likes of vanes or Willie Monroe jr
One of them did struggle with Vanes lol. I scored that fight a draw. Two of the judges had it 96-94.
Andrade is another guy who isn't as good as a lot of people want him to be, who also struggled with Vanes.
