1.Hearns, hes a michigan boy after all. Very interesting fighter to watch with his huge reach for such low weightclasses he fought at.
2.Hagler, very entertaining fighter and very charismatic
3.Duran, just an all around bad dude
4.Leonard, never was a fan.
The only "money" fights for jermain are against calzaghe and roy jones. If he fights anyone but those 2 the money wont be much different and we can officially say he's ducking pavlik.
The truth is the fight was an abomination and no one won, so taylor holding onto the belts was the right choice. You cant tell me spinks deserved the win tonight.
I wouldnt say mma is skill-less, but most of the guys in it are goons. And the idea of it being more like a street fight is somewhat true, but at the same time its no where close really. in a street fight if a guy is on top of you punching you, you will go for his eyes or nuts or whatever you can do.
If taylor wins he'll fight calzaghe and if spinks wins he'll prob fight floyd, but i could see taylor/pavlik eventually. Id go with taylor but it would definetely be a dangerous fight.
Mayweather/De La Hoya? Are you on crack?
....but like Easy-E said,"The fight was too one sided to be FOTY."
Like I said, obviously this was the more exciting fight, but mayweather/dlh did set the ppv record and had a lot of implications and a ton of hype going into it. That kind of stuff is significant, just look at some past foty winners, namely the fight it most closely resembled: hagler/leonard.
So far its still mayweather/dlh. This was more exciting but implications matter too. I dont think either will end up being the foty at the end of the year though.
Yep, people watch boxing for guys like them, and the spinks and mayweathers dont do the sport any good whatsoever. Pacquiao would be a better "face of the sport" than mayweather, no doubt.
I wouldnt say he has no chance, but if he does win it'll be the least enjoyable fight of the year. The may 19 card is great though, I just wish cards like this werent on hbo all the time, as having this card on espn 1 or 2 would help the sport a tremendous amount.
Definetely Judah/Cotto, I wouldnt be surprised if that ends up being fight of the year. Plus its in MSG, you cant beat the atmosphere of a fight there.
Yea there will be an "invincible" beast of a heavyweight champ who crushes all comers again. There was liston, then foreman, then tyson, so it would make sense that someone will surface soon enough.
At the same time though, no one has had the mystique of being the baddest man alive quite like tyson. This is why tyson was bigger than ali. Regardless of how many espn classic fights ali has, tyson is just a much more exciting fighter and a more interesting person.
Its impossible to have big fights every other weekend, but the next 3 months will have a lot of significant fights. Brewster/wlad II, Wright/Hopkins, Cotto/Judah, Miranda/Pavlik, Spinks/Taylor, Hatton/Castillo, Margarito/Williams, Forrest/baldomir, and probably maskaev/peter.
Yea, he's probably the most athletic boxer of our generation, and probably the best too. He clearly beat a prime bernard hopkins and owned his division. The tarver fights late in his career dont hurt him much in my mind.
Oscar/floyd was an awesome poster. Other recent good posters:

I wouldnt call floyds boxing endeavors "fights". What he does is perfectly legal and works, but boxing is supposed to be entertaining above all else, and in that regard he fails half the time.
I say yes, but not for shorter terms.
Yea, if that was legal then it would certainly be interesting. A reality show about a prison boxing league. I agree with what somebody else said about stallone being the perfect host.
Im not the biggest gatti/ward fan ever, but i find it difficult to watch fights like taylor/spinks, taylor/hopkins, just about all mayweather or spinks fights. I just like fights where both guys are clearly trying to win. There's a reason why no hopkins, mayweather, or winky fight would ever even be considered a classic fight.
Just about any list would be criticized, but this is a seriously bad list. All i have to say is that they rated jake lamotta much higher than tyson, holyfield, holmes, rjj, hopkins, de la hoya, mayweather, and whitaker. I think it would be a lot easier just to rank best by weightclass of all time.
I dont see how a rematch would be any different, and to be honest the general public didnt enjoy the fight that much. Mayweather/mosley or maybe mayweather/spinks or taylor.
If he wants to be more popular he should act like that more often. Certain guys can be popular being the badass, and floyd is definetely NOT one of them.
