“It's a business and it's about the right fights at the right time. There are some good fights out there for Amir,” Roach told The Sun.
"He can outbox Maidana but he's tough, a good puncher and you don't want to exchange with him too much."
First those are quotes after the Kotelnik fight- recycled just to create a story
Second, this is the SUN newspaper- very unreliable
Third- those quotes does not mean that khan is vacating and not taking the fight on, its just aknowleging that its a hard fight.
The last we heard is khan on radio saying that he WILL NOT VACATE and said that ROACH as well as khan are very happy to take on maidana
IF they do vacate then I totally agree, its a bitch move priod.
Dont believe yet
what are people on about, they haven't actually got recent quotes with Roach saying that they dont want the fight, the last we heard was khan on radio saying " i spoke to roach about maidana and hes very happy with taking him on "
No one see the problem with the date? No way is Khan fighting the week before Pacquiao. Freddie Roach can only do so much and I can't see him being able to train two fighters for two extremely difficults bouts at the same time.
Having said that, I love the sound of this and I hope it's true.
I dont think it would be that much of a problem for roach, ortiz is a southpaw which is good concidering khan will be sparring with manny, its the last week of pacs training so just tapering down, nothing major. I dont get why theyd take on ortiz instead of maidana though which is a more winnable fight. Ortiz has good skills and power with both hands, either way if its maidana or ortiz, well know if khan has what it takes chin wise. Roach knows ortiz pretty well and has been at the wild card for training a year or two ago. Both roach and khan were ringside for ortiz maidana as well. Would love to see this happen. I think we'll know more after the ortiz fight this weekend, am sure HBO will mention something if its true.
When similar polls were posted a few months before, people gave diaz a much better chance and many of them said hed "destroy" khan, what makes a victory against salita change their minds. My main doubt about khan is dealing with pressure fighters. I hope they dont sidestep maidana because a victory would answer alot of questions before going after a marquez or a bradley.
It shows how far amir has come along that some people would even concider him winning or not laughing at the thread. Am a big fan of khan but the left hook is killer, cotto would be able to land enough and get a mid round ko just now, cotto is a good boxer and would deal with khan similar to mosley using the jab. What we need to see next is khan proving his chin against a maidana to see if the theories about the improving punch resistence have worked (moving up weight, putting more weights on the legs, toughening up from sparring). Another thing is khans power, he has been working on sitting down on his punches and it showed against salita but everybody knows hes chinny anyway, so I would still need to see him hurting another world class oponent. Cotto is the 4th best welter in the world but if khan proves himself then id have him winning even pre margarito, its a BIG if though lol. This is all hypothetical, I cant imagine theyd ever meet.
i hope he fights maidana, its a very winnable fight for him and one he will gain big respect for
roach said recently on the grind radio that KHAN WILL NOT VACATE but will take on maidana, he said that he preferred khan to face malignaggi first then maidana but it will be maidana next, he also said its a dangerous fight but us very confident
Wheres all the big talking Khan haters at???
They all jump on a BS sun article with recycled old quotes and start slating khan, yet I dont see any of them coming on here taking on the bet
I hope he does, I just don't see Warren letting it happen.
Warren himself has said on his blog that the fight is going to purse bids and didnt mention a thing about vacating- see below
'' AMIR KHAN'S mandatory WBA light-welterweight title defence against Argentinian Marcos Maidana will go to purse bids this week after those involved couldn't come to an agreement.''
Its not really up to warren either as Khan is a free agent atm but will work with warren for UK fights but hes also been talking to other promoters.
In an article today in another UK paper, khan was walking about hatton but he said that this would only be after facing his mandatory- see below
“Obviously, I have a mandatory defence of my WBA title to make and Ricky probably would want a warm-up fight but maybe later in the year it could happen. It would be the type of fight that would be great at an outdoor venue like one of the big football grounds.”

 so thats $15.00 4 u r bicycle, $3.00 4 da cart board under the bridge and .50 cents that u got under a plastic bag..... u go boy!!! :joke: but sometimes this articles make us feel that way, right!!!
lollllllllllllll
trust me Froch will have a good chance against B hop just remember how everybody thought hed get beat up by JT prefight, so when people say JT outboxed Froch thats bs, JT was no more than 2 rounds up going into the 12th, ( see all the press scorecards) and concidering that was his first defence being abroad , all his nerves etc he didnt do too bad going into the 12 but at the back his mind he was always going to go for a big last round he even said that he could have went for it earlier but he was worried about his first ever knockdown and lack of experience at this level, ofcourse JT beat Bhop twise and still boxed well in the froch fight, Kelly pavlik just wasnt himself against Bhop but if its at 168 froch will be stronger,
anyway the legend is gnna be 45 and still on the p4p list but his end will come soon and I reckon froch will do it
Glad to see Amir give Peterson his props even if he is still bitter about the ref and judges, i wonder if someone like Oscar has had a word with him in that it might be damaging to his image/future PPV Sales... Just a thought, Amir isnt a bad lad at heart and perhaps its 100% genuine. Ur justifying his comments and reaction and i agree with u in that they ARE understandable but that doesn't make them any less classless imo
Just the way i see it. He can learn from this experience and come again, get the rematch won and move on from there....
Good post
