If Khan decides not to vacate his title he has to face Maidana, the mandatory challenger for his belt. Maidana one of the heaviest punchers in the entire 140lb division. Khan has a 1 inch height advantage and 1 inch reach advantage.

Out boxed in some parts of the fight IMO, but your right wouldn't say he was out boxed the whole fight which was close, but a boxer like Kotilenk could find a way to disposes Maidana's power, I'm sure Khan could do it more effectively & make it more of a easier fight IMO.
I would have personally rather seen Khan vs Maidana then Con vs Paulie. Notice the difference, Khan gains respect from all of us if he takes the fights the fans want him to take. He wouldn't be Amir Con anymore if he didn't hand-pick his opponents clearly to avoid power-punchers.
People are picking Amir Khan because Maidana was out boxed against Kotilenk, whom Khan out boxed, Maidana has a punchers chance against Khan but Khan would win the fight, wouldn't be surprised if it was by K.O.
Maidana is a decent fighter but he was getting out boxed at times against Victor Cayo.
From what I've heard that fight was close and no one really got outboxed in that fight, being outboxed is not a close fight. But from what I've heard about that fight, it was fairly close. Also, styles make fights and also the fact that fighters learn over time and get better. Maidana is probably much better then Kotilenk now. While Kotilenks career is going down the drain losing, Maidana is winning his recent fights.
Why are so many people picking Con, when its clearly obvious that Con avoided this match-up for the time-being? He wouldn't win, he didn't even have the balls to get in the ring against Maidana and defend his belt like a true champion. Instead he cherry-picked an opponent who is one of the weakest punchers in this sport.
WE GOING TO FIND OUT ITS official on the undercard of hopkins vs jones 2 check it on boxrec.
I think khan vs maidana will be entertaining then jones hopkins :p
Khan TKO8, with knockdowns aplenty - all suffered by Maidana. :box2:
This..
Khan by mid-to-late stoppage. Maidana has a suspect chin too, e.g. Ortiz fight. Khan doesn't have as much pop as Ortiz but he is much faster. Khan's power is not great but definately respectable, add that to his lightning speed (only Zab can compare at 140lbs ) and Khan can stop pretty much any LWW fighter, except for those who have granite chins, e.g. Kotelnik, Malignaggi, etc.
I can see Khan getting dropped at some point but he'll recover as I don't think it'll land flush. I think Maidana will get TKO'd. Cuts may come into it.
Khan's next few fights:
Maidana (April)
Devon Alexander (unfication) (August)
Ricky Hatton (December, after Hatton's return/tune-up fight)
Timothy Bradley (Spring-2011. Undisputed unification, early-f.o.t.y. contender for 2011)
If Khan wins all of the above, should he stay at LWW and defend his undisputed crown a few times or move upto WW? He's 5'10" and has a big frame and killer speed so I think he'll be a big force at WW. His power will improve as too would his punch resistance.
How long can he keep making 140lbs? He's young and is still growing. At the age of 21/22 he was draining himself to make 135lbs limit, that's only 5lbs difference. Draining himself to make the weight meant that whatever punch resistance he had got destroyed. I think he'll move upto WW in 2011 at some point in order to avoid another KTFO, but on the other hand, everyone at 147lbs punches harder anyway lol
:boxing:
khan should outbox him to a comfortable decision if he fights the right fight
it hink he could KO him but he should be cautious and not leave his dodgy chin open
there is the threat of Maidana which makes it a geniune PPV fight because if he lands - Khan will only go down once and stay there.
Meanwhile - and I can be quoted on having said this many times before - I'm totally confident of Khan being able to take any bombs that Maidana gets through. Khan always looked too gangly and squeezed out at 135, whereas 140 is truly his division now that he's maturing into young frame. He'll take punches just fine.
By the end of his career, I fully expect him to be at 154 at the least.

I'd agree with this.
But there is the threat of Maidana which makes it a geniune PPV fight because if he lands - Khan will only go down once and stay there.
That said the chance of 54-second headline fight may be on the horizon here. lol. They should put that in the small print of the ads. Khan could end this himself very early.
This fight is a shoot out.
