After his first day at the Wild Card Gym of celebrated trainer Freddie Roach, conditioning guru Alex Ariza says Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao looks better than ever.
In an overseas telephone conversation with www.insidesports, Standard Today and Viva Sports, Ariza said Pacquiao ran for 40 minutes at Griffith Park Monday morning( Tuesday in Manila) in Manila and then went twelve rounds on the punch-mitts with Roach at the gym.
When it was all over Ariza said “I am telling you Ronnie, I am not making it up. He is looking better than alright. This is the best I’ve ever seen him.”
He said Pacquiao woke up and weighed 150 pounds for the 145 pound catch-weight “Fire Power” showdown with wbo welterweight champion Miguel Cotto at the mgm grand Garden Arena on November 14.
Pacquiao gets back into the sparring mode on Wednesday, Manila Time, but Roach hasn’t decided who he will spar with although former sparring Raymund Beltran is back at the Wild Card Gym and could possibly be one of the sparring partners.
Asked whether they had any word on Cotto’s training camp Ariza replied “you know I haven’t heard anything but I’ve got to be honest with you I wasn’t so impressed the way he looked after being in camp 30 days before Manny. He looks a little soft to me. Couldn’t let our guy look like that, that’s for sure.”
Well, to be fair, Miguel doesn't have the help that Pac does.

Manny is always improving with every passing day; even when he sleeps his boxing skills increase because of his genetic composition. He can also speak German in Filipino.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!
Does he also gain the ability to breath in water while eating a salad?

pac's already at 150? he might be over-training.
U do realize overtraning can hurt u more than help u.
What are you talking about? If Cotto is soft it implies that he's not training enough; but I don't buy it; Cotto is right on target and will peak in a few weeks - bottomline - Cotto is carrying some water weight but you can clearly see he's solid.
Getting a head start on training is a good thing as long as you pace yourself and progressively increase the intensity of the sessions as time goes on. As a personal trainer for 12 years, it appears his training is just fine; he is not overtraining.
awe man, your gonna be crying when Cotto is too much for Paquiao! LOL!! Ay, how the heck are you gonna pay "HollaHolla" and "elmalo29" when you only have 60k in the bank????
Don't worry about that, if he lost (which is highly doubtful) I have more than enough to cover his bet.
Are you willing to bet all your points?
Well... u got a point.
But training for more than 3 month...
Isnt that borderline dangerous for a boxer to tax his body for such an extended period of time??
Dont get me wrong... I want a fair fight wherein both fighters are at their best.
But training for such a long time... well... I dunno.
Well the training Cotto was doing for the first few weeks were moderate exercises intended to build a foundation/or not lose the foundation. Plus this plan was made by his physical trainer or w.e. his title is, this guy has more experience and training than anyone that is writing here about this subject. You still didn't answer the question: How can someone be soft while overtraining? It makes no sense.

It doesn't matter 'cause they're going to pay me as soon as Pacquiao lays Cotto flat in the canvas in the 4th round. :lol1:
