wilder is clearly more raw physical talent than actual skill but he does possess probably the best jab in the division(outside of past prime but still dangerous wlad) and that right hand can be a game changer vs any heavyweight, even the divisions top dog AJ whos obviously a more complete fighter than wilder but showed against wlad hes very vulnerable to the straight or over hand right which is the bombers top weapon...
as good as AJ looks there still isnt anybody in the division who has established themselves as head or shoulders above the rest of the division but i really believe with the AJ's rematch with wlad in the fall, talks of fury returning in 2018 and wilder seemingly willing for unification with the other titlists that everything will clear itself up by the end of 2018 and we will finally have a heavyweight kingpin again...
2 judges had Brook up by at least 3 rounds.
Meaning, he just had to go through 3 more minutes. his body was substantitally weakened by the GGG fight. in the 11th round, he was having flashbacks due to PTSD.
that's why he lost.
If he didn't go through the GGG fight he would've survived and won.
that is just a fact.
brook was behind on all 3 judges cards and needed a KO to win...wasnt even the same eye that triple g messed up...stop trying to rewrite history to suit your bias narrative
This post would make sense, if people weren't in the other thread saying Charlo would be the best fighter GGG has faced.charlo may very well be the best opponent GGG has faced as a pro....but if they should fight we dont have to exaggerate charlos worth in order to elevate golovkins status as a fighter....
im a fan of jermall, hes very good young fighter but the thread starter in the opening post was talking about Hall of Fame in association with a kid whos best wins are austin trout and jermell charlo...no doubt, very nice wins for charlo but lets put things in some proper prospective here
i like andrade...j rock at times was giving mall the business and it was a 50/50 fight until the knockout...if andrade stays on his feet i think he beats jermall
what? are you blind to that certain demographic that hates on any non black fighter.
to some degree...but in the few months i scoped the board out before signing up i found it to be far harsher coming from the otherside than from the "demographic" you speak of who usually are only responding in retaliatory fashion to some of the garbage spewed in their directions
but anyway im not here to add to any of that or derail the thread so thats the last i will speak of it on the open forum
im not surprised...alot of fighters that are actually involved in the sport dont necessarily follow boxing the way us "hardcore" fans do...fans like us who post on forums like these kinda geek or nerd out over the sport
amen to most of what you said but i dont think canelo gives charlo a brutal beatdown if they should fight next year...toss up type of fight even though i slightly favor canelo...if charlo isnt ready for that type of fight now when will he ever be???guys 26 and a title holder talking about moving up to his 2nd weight class...he feels hes ready and thats good enough for me
They're never satisfied and always b*tching...about American fighters.i notice it seems to usually be a certain demographic of american fighters :fingersx:
im not sure whats not to like...the guy can box or bang and has stopped 4 of his last 5 opponents...
if these forums existed in the 80's and 90's some of you would be complaining because mike tyson only knocked out 8 of his opponents in the 10 successful title fights in is first run or that it took julio cesar chavez too long to break down greg haugen and terrence ali:lol1:
mannys decline is often terribly exaggerated...is he the fighter he used to be??? obviously not but hes no where near shot to sh*t like the version of tyson that lost to danny williams and kevin mcbride
Nobody is proclaiming him to be SRLno you didnt say he was "sugar ray" but you're already assessing him as a HOF caliber fighter after two decent wins versus austin trout and julian ****1n williams
lets pump the brakes a little bit and let the kid unify or move up and win another title before you even start thinking like that:fingersx:
that was a perfect uppercut so i dont base any opinion of his chin on that...but that jab that had him on queer st. makes me wonder...truth is we wont know until he fights more quality opposition
:lol1: so we have a GGG fan here who is trying to hype charlo into a future atg because hes a potential future opponent for the "god"???
chill mr objectivity :cop: charlos a good fighter and would be a good future opponent for golovkin but lets not make him the next ray leonard or something
i favor ward but you're seriously underestimating kov if you think hes just some crude brawler who only depends on his power...kov is a fantastic boxer/puncher
he was a guy much like ricky hatton whos problems with booze and depression increased after suffering their first professional defeats...naz was another fighter whos bad habits became worse after losing for the first time
yeah its been completely embarrassing the way the promotion for this fight has been handled...you figure roc nation/duvas would have had these two guys on all the talking head sports shows on espn/fox sports etc. in order to build up what should have been a mega event...
joe calzaghe was a very good fighter but we dont know if he could have been "great" because it took him til the tail end of his career to fight true "elite" level competition...hes really only got two really good wins over kessler and a past prime b-hop...
eubank win was a great name to have on his ledger but chris was not only past his prime but also weight drained in that fight so it dont score the same points as the other two names for me...
Just curious how you think he can? Like which round? If he didn't KO Chilemba or a 50 year old Hopkins what makes you think he can KO Ward? I think Ward is at least equal if not better defensively than Chilemba and Hopkins.after reading it back i suppose i wasnt real clear on what i meant...
i believe andre ward will win the fight by a pretty clear decision win...no controversy other than from the group of ward detractors who will bitttch about the way ward goes about the manner of his business and the locale of the fight...
what i meant was kovalev has a snow balls chance in hell at beating ward if the fight goes the distance so its understandable to me that the oddsmakers have it kov by ko over kov by decision...
there is gonna defo be some rough stuff when the fight gets into the trenches...
it wont be a dirty fight though...i dont believe either guy is deliberately dirty...
hitting low, rabbit shots, throwing bows, intentional use of the head...thats dirty to me...grappling a bit inside to gain favorable position isnt dirty imo...robert byrd is a decent ref and as long as hes there to make sure nothing is egregious than the fight will turn out just fine
great read...couldnt agree more with anything you said concerning saturday nights main event, however with alot of the BS i read on this site i almost feel like you wasted your timewith such a heartfelt, well thought out post:D
not the best of all time but definitely the best of his time which probably puts him somewhere among the top 20-25 on the ATG list...
pretty fantastic career despite the opinions of his detractors...
PACs best of this time. PACs top ten, Floyd is bordering top 20.
All common opponents PAC beat more impressively. That's got too seal the deal if being 8 diviusion champ doesn't.
Do t mention jmm noiw. PAC beat him 3 times which ius 2 times moire than Floyd didimo, floyd and manny were pretty much dead even heading into that superdud they produced...
but floyd takes it on the convincing manner of which he took their head to head...
imo only these 4 guys from this era are can be placed on any ATG's list:
1.floyd
2.manny
3.b-hop
4.jmm
and everybody else is a distance away as far as the fighters from this era go(from 2000 to the present day)
i like errol spence, i really do but the guy has beaten literally nobody of note to date, holds no titles or prestige other than being the "unproven boogeyman" so why would he be on bradleys radar???
at this stage in his career bradleys calling out titlists,ex titlists and a future HOFer...im certain if timmy is still in the game when spence wins one of those trinkets or the welterweight championship, spence will be on bradleys opponent list just like the others timmy named as possible future opponents...
lets let the kid win something/or beat a live body before we start anointing him king or heir apparent...looks the goods though, i'll give him that
chavez actually would have had a better chance at beating floyd at 130 or 135...at 140 chavez lost a little of that closing speed he had at the smaller weights and was a better puncher down there...
i dont think a fight with floyd at 140 or more would have been close...floyd likely wins a wide "boring" decision...
Errol looks like a one trick pony. He comes in, grabs his opponent with his right arm, clinches and works the body with the left. That was his only move tonight. He was getting out boxed easily from range. He was clinching worse than Wlad in there tonight. That's pretty much all he can do, and he was getting picked off easily, until the natural fatiguing off Kell was taken advantage of by the PED abusing Spence, who could have fought all night like that with dem steriods. When they both had full strength Kell looked like he was fighting a 10 year old. Spence still has a lot to prove.
:alcoholic stop hater....fight was back and forth and very close until about round 8 when spence began to batter kell...nobody was schooling anybody
stop analyzing the fight with your heart and use your head...good fight tonight, its just a shame brook dont have spences heart or stamina
