Former two-division champion Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley (33-2-1, 13KOs) has been out of the ring since his April decision loss to Manny Pacquiao in their rubber match. After dropping a controversial decision in their first encounter, Pacquiao won the second and third installments of their trilogy.
While there was talk of him returning late in the year, Bradley decided to coach his son's youth football team and return to the ring early in 2017.
As for potential opponents, there are several options that should be available for first quarter fight in the new year. Bradley could decide to stay in the welterweight division - and with his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank now doing business with Al Haymon - there are several attractive opponents in the division.
Bradley has also mentioned that he is interested in facing former four division world champion Miguel Cotto at a catchweight. Cotto, who last fought in November 2015 when he lost a decision to Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, is looking for a comeback opponent for the first quarter of 2017.
"I will fight any of them guys. I don't really have a particular pick or order. I know that Shawn Porter wants to fight me. I know Keith Thurman wants to fight me. (Amir) Khan wants to fight me. I don't shy away from nobody. I know that all these guys want to fight me. We just gotta see what materializes and what we are going to do. The Cotto fight does interest me too," said Bradley.
Even with Danny Garcia and Thurman currently scheduled to collide on March 4th there are still several potential opponents in Haymon's deep welterweight stable such as Porter, Khan, Andre Berto, Errol Spence and others.
