I think we all saw that Hatton was nothing special when he struggled with Callazo.
He needs to fight Cotto. He is the only "name" I could see Hatton beating at this point. Hatton would not beat Mayweather, Mosley, or any of the big guys at 147.
He beat an old Tszyu. Nothing more.
Best now:
Heavy - Wlad
Cruiser - Bell
Light Heavy - Hopkins
Super Middle - Calzaghe
Middle - Taylor
Jr. Middle - Mosley
Welter - Floyd
Jr Welter - Cotto
Lightweight - Corrales
Jr Lightweight - Pac
It looks like Margarito is his only option right now.
- Mosley won't fight him (this year)
- Vargas won't fight him
- De La Hoya won't fight him (this year)
- Hatton is tied up (Urkal)
- Cotto looks to be tied up (Gatti if he beats Baldomir, JLC if he doesnt)
Floyd's only options are Margarito and I guess Baldomir if he beats Gatti, unless Floyd wants to move up to 154 and go at a guy like Spinks.
I would guess that we'll know something very soon. (Within a month).
my momma, cousin, sister or great uncle dont know who Spinks is.........oops i mean CORY spinks...
Yeah, because Margarito is sooo well known.
Man, Taylor is a badass.
July '05 - Bernard Hopkins
December '05 - Bernard Hopkins
June '06 - Winky Wright
December '06 - Kassim Ouma
You have to respect this guy.
Well he is about 3 months away from doing it again...
This wouldn't be a bad retirement plan for Pac Man to follow:
November: Morales
March '07: Barrera/Juarez winner
August '07: Barrios
Late '07/early '08: JM Marquez
Spring '08: Farewell fight against a lesser fighter in Manilla.
Forrest might be bigger/stronger, but there is no doubt that Ike has looked better in his two fights back than Forrest has. Ike looked really good on the Taylor-Hopkins 2 undercard. Forrest looked so so against the guy he stopped in the last round on best damn fightnight (something Garcia??)
I don't like Bernard Hopkins but I can't help but respecting him after what he did to Tarver. I also respect the fact that boxing has always been his job, and he was always training and getting ready to fight, not making cds or movies, etc.
I'd say some of both. Vargas definately did not look good, but I don't want to take away too much from Shane because he was at the top of his game tonight. Good speed and power, a nice jab and some very nice combinations.
i think shane would rather fight the gatti vs baldomir winner instead, because it's an easy title fight for him while he see's how mayweather does against margarito.
The problem with that is that if Gatti wins, a Gatti-Cotto fight is all but done.
