Although many expect welterweight titlist Ricky Hatton to face mandatory challenger Oktay Urkal on Dec. 9 (HBO), don't bank on it. Hatton is poised to give up his 147-pound belt to drop back to junior welterweight and face titlist Juan Urango, who recently claimed one of the 140-pound belts that Hatton vacated earlier in the year. Hatton, who struggled in his welterweight debut in May when he won a belt from Luis Collazo, has agreements with both Urkal and Urango in place, either of which he can move forward with. However, Urango is now the more likely opponent. Whomever Hatton faces, the bout appears headed for Atlanta

With so many good fights out there. Ricky wants to fight Urango??? What a fukking pussy!
I don't understand at all once a fighter reaches that elite status its about the match ups not the trinkets. Elite fighters do not need belts in order to make money or to get opponents they just need to show up. I can understand guys like urango who need belts to get to higher status but not a guy like hatton or other top fighters. Often times some of the belt holders are not the real guys in the weight classes. I can understand wanting to have the belts and be the man but all you need in my book is the ring belt.
His other option isn't that great either... I'll believe this when I see it. Hatton is many things, but a "pussy" he is not.
I think his management are pussies.
Ricky himself could move up to middleweight and he would still think he could win.
I have no reason to believe the pasty motherfucker doesn't want big fights against big opponents... I was led to believe that his HBO contract stipulated a Mayweather showdown at the end of it.
That would make sense.
But Juan Urango??
Please.
I think we all saw that Hatton was nothing special when he struggled with Callazo.
He needs to fight Cotto. He is the only "name" I could see Hatton beating at this point. Hatton would not beat Mayweather, Mosley, or any of the big guys at 147.
He beat an old Tszyu. Nothing more.
i dont understand hatton and his management team. the risk/reward for this fight makes zero sense!! If he wins, who cares. he was supposed to win.
If he loses, hes basically lost any chance of being popular here in the states, and he'll have lost any chance of a big money fight against mayweather, castillo, corrales, or even baldomir, down the line. i really dont understand this at all.
It can't be a big money fight either. Im not looking forward to this fight at all. 2-3 months ago i prayed that he would fight corrales or castillo, cause he said he would fight the winner, but now i dont either of those fights happening.
im pretty pissed right now. i have no idea what hatton is thinking!
It was the same thing with the Collazo fight.
Stupid management.
I heard Mallinaggi was going to fight Urango...
it seems to me haten just wants the easy fights..........its sad.
i really thought it would be up up and away after be beat kostya but he seems to just be picking of the easy title holders...
by the time (if ever) he steps in with a big name it might be to late
c'com ricky i know you can beat the best.......please just go do it.........dont waste time with the others

Urango is no 'champion'. He is not on Hatton's level, and that is clear based on Urango's flat performance vs Ben Rabah in his last fight. It was supposed to be another notch in Urango's belt, but instead he got a gift decision by most accounts.
Thing is, even if he had beaten Rabah clearly it wouldn't have meant he's ready for Hatton. Hatton should destroy this guy.
