no disrespect my friend, but this is easily said when you're on the outside looking in and "not" taking professional punches.
I do my fighting for free dude. I also work 50 hours a week making a crappy £1450 a month so u will have to excuse me when i think its lame for a supposed contender to turn down the opportunity to fight on HBO for the biggest money of his career in a $300000 sum for the WORLD TITLE! Its what young fighters dream of. If he's the fighter he says he is he will win and go on to reign as champ making loads of bigger money...
Where is the hunger, its the world title here......
Chase the glory and Dare to be great..... the money will follow.
Id fight GGG, Martinez, both Klitschko's and Mayweather all at once for that kinda cash btw!
Your life and what you earn has nothing to do with how you should view a guy who didn't take the FIRST offer given to him. When you started that job, did they tell you how much you would earn an hour, or did you negotiate your hourly pay?
Hey if he can get more money great, just dont blow the fight over money because 300K is nothing to be sniffed at and like i said the big money will come if he's the fighter he claims.
Meh, pricks told me what i was getting.... ****ers also told me it would go up with every qualification i achieved but has it bollocks!
He was better. He BEAT Hopkins when both were prime, not those sideshow "fights" later on. He accomplished more.
This is of course assuming Hopkins dont go doing anything miraculous at this stage in his career. Though everything he is doing in the ring is miraculous really at his age now
I am one happy man tonight i tell you, seeing Clev get mangled in Wales no less, a quality scrap in Enzo vs Mckenzie and a sensational one punch KO upset from Beefy!
I have him beating everything from 154 down.
160 and up different story but i dont think Mayweather would fight there (Possibly Sergio...) and neither should it be expected of him tbh.
That said at his age your just waiting on him getting old, he's already showing signs of slowing down. I think Alvarez has a real shot, he's Dangerous and poised in there with good hand speed along with being the bigger stronger guy. Of course Floyd might just make a fool of him exposing his slow feet, average gas tank and perhaps at times his over patience. His lack of volume might hurt him vs Mayweather too. All in all its a great fight and Saul has a shot at 22yrs old to beat the 36yrs old Mayweather. My call Money UD
Hats off to Floyd for fighting Alvarez (though I hate saying that for fighters doing what they SHOULD be) I thought he might end on him a few fights down the line
I have a lot of respect for the old school fighters. Basilio,La Motta, etc
I also respect any fighter who takes his beating like a man. Fighters like Micky Ward and Antonio Margarito.
Was with u all the way and then u went and said it.......Margarito :nonono:
I hope he can do some damage in the division still, he is only young after all. A young fighter can always learn from and comeback better from a loss, especially the type's he took where it wasn't a brutal sustained beating. That said he will never be the fighter i thought he was gonna be, one of the biggest busts in recent memory for me - i thought he looked special.
It was the technical version of a war. It was outstanding, if it's anything like that fight it's definitely worth the price of admission.Price of admission!? I'd give my spleen to be ringside for a fight like that! :boxing:
Gonna go with Bradley decision banking on his speed, athleticism and Marquez's advanced age. People to call Marquez shot straight after even though a close fight.Marquez is living in that borrowed time faze of his career now though, your just waiting on age and a lot of wars catching up with him. But u gotta judge him on the form he's in now and he's coming in off of his best win
this is gonna be similar to JMM-Barrera.....MAB moved early and had to stand and fight when he was hurt by JMM's power shots....Bradely is faster than MAB but he doesnt have his skillset or his power...he can win if he fights the perfect fight but the damage he sustained in the last fight makes me think JMM has got this.....before i would've picked Bradley, but his versatility wont serve him if he gets hurt when JMM lands clean....and he will land clean.
If it's even half the fight Marquez vs Barrera was i will lose my shit because I rate that right up there with MAB vs Morales!
Cotto is not proven to me yet, it was impressive, but we need to see his pace by the 8th round..
This is true and it remains to be seen if that intensity of attack costs him vs bigger punching fighters. In truth he still has all the problems he had before Rodriguez - His scar tissue and tendency to swell, the fact that he's so short at the weight and despite still having good pop in his shots not as much as in previous divisions imo. His confidence must be high right now and he looked reinvigorated with Freddie Roach. Big tests and questions lay ahead and knowing Miguel he wont be wasting his last few fights in anything less than the first class contests that have been the staple of his great career. Wat a fighter....
#WARCOTTO
Cotto at this point in his career and at this weight class is just another fighter. He was short at WW and at 154 is a stump of a fighter, he busts up and swells easy after "the bricking" and subsequent tear ups, He's in there with bigger guys who can suck up his power better because of their size and the fact his power hasn't carried up to full extent. He's not the fighter he was but still top class and should have to much left for Rodriguez but the fact me and many more of his fans are nervous just shows he's fallen - before this fight would have been an easy night's work
Would have liked to have seen him stick with Diaz personally but u never know Roach may serve him well
HBO trying to make us fans forget how Bradley was getting pummeled by ESPN fighter Ruslan. Everything is how Tim "cater to fight Ruslan's style" which is bull****. Bradley has lost his last 2 fights and he is getting KO'ed just like Marquez KO Juan Diaz.
Tim is literally too big headed for his own good and he is getting KTFO
Tim won that Provodnikov fight fair and square, even Ruslan agrees. He had to go through hell to do it so lets give the man his credit
Im all over the place with this pick tbh.......
Im thinking that Marquez should take it though. Bradley can punch enough to score the odd Knockdown and certainly hard enough to gain your respect but he's no Mike Tyson and if u cant count on bombing Juan out then u better be able to box well off the back foot forcing Marquez to come forward and act as the aggressor, a role he can play but is far less effective at than his usual counter puncher role. Tim is athletic and mobile so he has a shot at pulling a win out the bag in this style but even if he tries to move JMM is so sharp and accurate and he CAN punch. Knowing what a warrior Tim Bradley is, The Provodnikov fight alone sealed that deal - (I mean Tim was OUT and still fighting back relentlessly!) And knowing at some point Juan is likely to ring his bell with one of his hard classy combinations its hard not to see a war develop after a cagey start. Because as we know Marquez be out there Warring too - see Diaz, Pacqauio, Katsidis, Barrera ect ect!
Yeah i like Marquez in this fight, especially after Tim's last fight which may or may not have taken something out of him
Cant wait though, LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE! :boxing:
That was Gangsta.
Everybody doubting him, even us loyal fans, the most were picking him on points or late on but he comes out no music - "Im just here to Fight!", brings the old intensity and lets rip to the body getting himself a KO finish real early in the 3rd round! Brilliant.
:boxing:
I'm going with Marquez by decision.
I don't think Bradley has nearly the skills or all round ability to outbox Marquez and if/when he forces the fight that will favour Marquez.
This is probably the truth of it right here
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have 5 common opponents
Oscar De La Hoya
Miguel Cotto
Ricky Hatton
Juan Manuel Marquez
Shane Mosley
Who do you think fought the better versions of each of these fighters?
--
Ok multiple choice poll is up - if you think they fought a roughly equal version of any fighter select them both for that fighter or just don't select anyone.
Floyd fought better versions of Oscar, Cotto, Hatton and Mosley. Pacquaio fought the better versions of JMM
Tyson fought a lot of cans though, watch his early fights dude was built up media creation and a cowardly lion he will be the first to tell you he tried to bully guys but cowered when they fought back and show no fear.
No he wouldn't. Bullying a guy in the ring is a good thing, he admits he was a bully in there. But i cant see him saying he cowered when they fought back....
Tyson at his best when he craved greatness and immortality was Brilliant, the most ferocious fighter the division has seen since Dempsey. A Brilliant fighter who dominated his division when at his peak.
