Simple question: whose do you think is the best nickname, and why?
Personally I'd go for "Homicide" Hank Armstrong; brutal, personification of an abstract noun, and hugely evocative of the era in which he fought.
Mitch "Hold my beer" Hicks runs him close.
I actually really liked Arturo 'Thunder' Gatti.
Gave and took a lot of thunderous shots.
I guess Robert 'No Más' Duran is pretty good too. I kid, I kid.
Best nick name is "Sugar" for Sugar Ray Robinson. People forget that Robinson was the first real "Sugar", the fact that Leonard and Mosley took the nickname just shows the greatness of the nickname imo.
Will'o the wisp was nice.
The Hitman
Lights Out
Pretty Boy was nice and the meaning of it but I hate Money.
Darnell "The Ding-a-Ling Man" Wilson
I thought that his moniker came from the sound of the bell. But the rumour that he refered to his fallen opponents as being, and I quote - "c*ck slapped" quickly made me realise that I'd made a terrible mistake.
Real deal Holyfield it's catchy
Jon the bones jones he might be a mma fighter but that's a pretty cool nickname.
forgot about that one. Real Deal Holyfield is legit...was even in a rap song.
