Really like Burns, but as was mentioned earlier he has regressed as a fighter a little. To be fair though a badly broken jaw must have affected his mindset in this fight. Not to say he would have won if the injury hadn't occurred. It may have been closer and he 'may' have edged it but Crawford was excellent at times. Great movement, and I liked how when he was (rarely) tagged clean by Burns he always answered back and went on the offensive. Burns was too 1-dimensional and spent far too many of the middle to later rounds on the ropes.
I also don't think there was enough urgency in his corner. At the end of the 11th round Crawfords corner were telling him he needed the 12th. Not so for Ricky...
I hadn't seen Crawford fight before and was really impressed. Ricky can get to a world title shot again, I can't see him beating anyone at the moment though.
A rematch would be good to see...horrific to see his eye like that, it looked like a bad special effect from an 80's horror film! Enzo had some good success and it had the makings of a decent fight. Real shame for Enzo - who is a likeable fighter. I don't think he should hang em up just yet, give it one more go I say based on his performance.
Agree with mos of the comments on here. Price just seemed to waste so much nervous energy.
He can come back from this no doubt. He didn't look like he was as good a condition as he has been in previously...maybe its all the hype and attention he got for having Lewis with him.
As mentioned previously, he cowered or froze when Thompson started landing or opening up. He looked clueless on the inside and vulnerable to the body.
I thought he would attempt to just box his way to a win but he threw the gameplan out of the window. Where was his jab? One criticism I've always had with Price is his complete and utter lack of head movement...
He can bounce back though....
We were initially just gonna do the watch-party thing...
but then I figured I'd be depressed watching my man Junito get schooled by Floyd....so we opted to watch it over at BTs Gentlemens Club
If i'ma be crying ima do it over some soft, tender, round Cakes :friday: :friday:....
No such luck of anything like that in the UK...dammit!
Got some friends round with some booze & food...good times....lots of fight action on BoxNation Sat night!
My heart says Cotto, my head says Mayweather....WAR COTTO!
There's no strip clubs showing the fight over there?????
Nope - fight time will be about 4-5 am UK time so none would be open anyway!!
Never thought of going a strip club to watch a fight - that is a genius idea...:boxing:
It would be a helluva fight! Id probably want Adamek to win but my head says Haye almost everytime.
Although I have to admit Haye got hit far more than he should have against Ruiz. I think it depends on Haye - he looked gassed after 3-4 rounds. Yet for Harrison he was his lightest yet.
Heavy Haye struggles and light Haye does a number on Adamek.
Still, Adamek rules!
The press conference was great viewing! They were *****ing at each other like school kids. I thought that Harrison got under Hayes skin a bit to be honest. Ill give Harrison credit he truly does believe he is gonna do this!
I've had 4 bigger lads bouncing up and down on my head and i had no signs of any serious trauma (just a mild concussion) so Abraham's dq shot alone did not cause the injury. It has to be something prior.
My oh my a fellow Stokey!
Im struggling to see what Chisora is gonna bring to the table that Wlad hasnt dealt with before. He reminds me of Sam Peter style wise, lots of wild hooks.
Perhaps not the best idea to talk about Wlads missus lol - I do think Chisora will come to fight though and not freeze up like alot of Klitschko opponents
Degale should concentrate on Smith who will give him a really tough fight. Smith is the underdog according to some in this one.
Degale is a good fighter but a complete arse. He needs knocking down a peg or two and Smith is the man to do it!
Khan could have already fought twice by now, theres not enough time for a tune-up and by all accounts he only has himself to blame.
Agree with LacedUp - Anyone is a risk for Khan at this stage!
He really needed an opponent like Whyte - young and hungry like himself. Lets not forgot the Eddie Hearn hype machine really has piled pressure onto Joshua to destroy everyone in a few rounds or less.
To me he spent a lot of nervous energy in the first couple of rounds, he was headlining a massive night of boxing in the UK against a strong opponent. He was bound to be nervous. That said he seemed stiff and flat footed in the second when he was hurt.
It was a big test for him and he composed himself and got back to boxing from that point on. Whyte looked on unsteady legs throughout the fight so he did really well to keep fighting back. He showed great heart and much better movement than AJ.
AJ is still a ferocious finisher, I think the event got to him and he was tagged, he came back in great fashion. I wouldn't say he has a suspect chin at all. He took some good shots. It was a really entertaining fight!
I have to admire Khan for this, it will be one of the biggest fights of the year and he's right there, Even if he loses but looks good he can say Canelo was too big.
I don't think he will get a beating, he is vulnerable to a big shot and may get KO'd again, but a sustained beating? I can't see that happening. But still, I'll reserve judgement until they are in the ring and we see the size difference.
Definitely an underrated chin, I think I agree with the 7/10 rating. It's more the volume of shots that has stopped him previously.
Got a lot of time for Cotto - a true professional
Groves gets tagged alot in fights, so does GGG - I think the difference is GGG has much better punch resistance and is mentally a lot tougher. He would probably stop Groves late but think it would be a great fight whilst it lasted.
It would be good to see all these people talking about fighting GGG actually step up.
If Froch hadn't retired it would have been a great fight. He is retired and should stay that way, I've no idea how a fight would play out with those two. GGG should fight Jacobs then Canelo...
Two years ago this was a fight I would have liked probably more than any other in the sport. Now. Not so much. Still... rather over the hill Froch than another Wade or Monroe, so yeah, there's that.
Ain't happening though, not that I'd particularly blame Golovkin if it did - time's running out on his career and if he wants to get them $s in the bank it has to be worth exploring. More likely just smoke and mirrors IMO however.
Agree! Froch was a great fighter and tough as nails and he should stay retired. How old is Golovkin now?
The way I see it is Groves is perhaps over confident. Carl has shown how tough he is and took Groves best shots early in the fight and still managed to take over the fight up to the stoppage. Carl underestimated Groves, he won't do this time regardless of the result.
Groves has a great chance, but this time I can only see a Froch win by stoppage. Groves has an ok chin but he does have stamina issues. Froch has an iron chin and could go for 15 rounds due to his conditioning.
The Kenny Anderson fight was superb btw! ;-)
Wilder is a dangerous fighter no doubt. Wlad has the experience and power to match Wilder. As mentioned, it would be good for Wilder to have a couple of fights at a higher level before he faces Wlad. Plenty of good fights out there for him, Fury, Chisora, Jennings, winner of Stiverne-Arreolla...
Certainly not a race thing if you ask me. They don't like each other, it's a business and Kell wants a big payday.
Khan is after an even bigger payday with Mayweather/Pacman, so Kell has a reason to dislike Khan if he is being ignored - especially as he is now a champion.
Surprised by Jack's performance, underestimated him really. He boxed and moved well and kept his cool. Groves appeared to expend a lot of energy early, through his nervous skittish movement.
The KD at least showed he can recover, he just doesn't seem as well conditioned or focused without Adam Booth running things.
Degale has improved greatly and I think he may be too slick for Jack, though it's not an easy fight for him by any stretch...
I had my prostrate checked last year...I asked the Dr if that was his finger or if he pulled a switchie on me. He wasn't amused and i think he ended the exam abruptly...I mean he barely gave me enough time to get a semi. Some Dr's have no sense of humour.
Hahaha.
Didn't Clottey blame a stomach bug/ bad guts on his loss to Pacman? Not a lot you can do in that situation, half your concentration would be on not dropping an A-bomb in front of millions...
