DAVID PRICE insists he will bounce back from a second devastating defeat against Tony Thompson – but there seem certain to be changes in his team.
He had a shocking 30th birthday present when he was stopped in five rounds by the American southpaw at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Saturday.
Thompson barely beat the count in round two after being floored by a sledgehammer right, but Price quickly ran out of steam and an inquest has begun into his performance.
Price lost to the same opponent inside two rounds back in February and made the decision to bring in Lennox Lewis as his technical adviser.

He's in a difficult position. He's too good for domestic fights but not good enough to move on. He still has a career in boxing just not the one we hoped for.
Price can do a Wlad
David Price's 2nd fight with Tony Thompson reminded me of Wlad's 1st with Lamon Brewster. Punched himself out and seemed to lose all energy. If he can sort that out the way Wlad did, and use his size the way Wlad does to keep his chin clean, he can still have a very successful career.
I never understood what the hype was with Price. He got sparked in the Olympics which showed how chinny he was.
Wait are you saying Price was dropped with head gear on.
I thought he just needed to use his jab and stay away from the turtle shell position but I guess he might be a little chinny.
I'm not gonna hate on Price. He had Thompson hurt early. I predicted another early Thompson KO, but Price almost made me eat that prediction. His issue is stamina. But that doesn't keep him from making interesting fights early. I won't mind seeing him in with other B-,C+ heavyweights.
I said before & i'll say it again... Price justs needs rounds. He needs experience. Maloney did a terrible job of matchmaking...
agreed all the way around
I realy believe that David Price has a mental/psychological problem. He`s insecure (about himself) and don`t know how do handle his emotions and fear in the ring. It`s true, everytime Tony opens up, Price was frozen stiff, unable to keep his composure and unsure how to deal with that situation. This is exactly the mental state that sucks all the energie out of a man. You need more than just a big frame, some power and technik to became a elite fighter. Look, B`Hop lacks speed and great punching power but he always knows exactly what he`s going to do. He knows how his opponent would move before they even think about it. But this is not David Price. I actualy like this dude but I don´t think he`s got what it needs to be a champion. The base, the foundations is layed out in a champion at a very young age. That is when you learn the mental and psychological aspects of the sweet sience. That is when you find yourself in all kinds of situations and when you learn to find a way out of it and turn it to your favor. THAT is what makes a champion!
Agree with mos of the comments on here. Price just seemed to waste so much nervous energy.
He can come back from this no doubt. He didn't look like he was as good a condition as he has been in previously...maybe its all the hype and attention he got for having Lewis with him.
As mentioned previously, he cowered or froze when Thompson started landing or opening up. He looked clueless on the inside and vulnerable to the body.
I thought he would attempt to just box his way to a win but he threw the gameplan out of the window. Where was his jab? One criticism I've always had with Price is his complete and utter lack of head movement...
He can bounce back though....
Price's problem is not his chin, nor his heart, not his boxing ability (which isn't great) and not his punch.
He tenses up. He's using energy when he shouldn't be.
He should fly to Philly, knock on B-Hop's door & ask him how to 'box'. He knows how to punch. It's how to box (ie breathe) that he has to learn.
But I think it's too late for him. He's in his 31st year & still too tense on a ring walk.
B-Hop can't teach something that is a Mother Nature's gift...
lol he's British, it's never over, we still watch Audley Harrison ffs!
On top of that, the heavyweight division is well...the heavyweight division, you can always come back.
I'm referring to his career it hopes of a career at the top level.
I really can´t see Price achieving anything in the sport. No chin, no defense, no stamina, no heart. Great right hand power but that alone wont take you to the top. (kind of reminds me of a certain US HW fighter..) A likeable guy though, I hope he makes a decent living knocking out domestic opponents.
there is no comparing wilder's talent and power with price. price is really just big. that's about where the "talent" stops.
I think you need to give Price an apology his not calling out the Kilitschko's his camp have admitted they need to drop a level and re-biuild. His chin is not the problem he took alot of punishment before going down most heavyweights would of, his problem is his stamina and not sticking to a gameplan. I doubt he will be a world champ but he has decent power and you never know- his best option is to get a world class trainer maybe move to the States for awhile and build himself up where there is no distractions like he has in Liverpool where his probably well known. The Khan camp would of made excuses and saying stupid statements like this is a shower and if you climb in the shower you get wet, Prices camp have acknowedged its time to re-build.
he didn't take much punishment, really. he didn't commit enough for that. when tony opened up price stopped throwing and cowered. thompson is a horrible athlete, and not a big puncher. everything he landed had delvis wanting to go home.
oiiiii ken rebuild me chin wif some of lennox' special jamacain jerk chicken.
i really though delvis was going to retire. they rushed him to the first thompson fight. they rushed him into the second. it's obvious he'll never be a great fighter, but with a full rebuilt at least he can make some more paydays.

Chinny with great power = entertaining fighter (usually).
He's taking a page out of Amir Khans book now... He's going to start calling out Klitschko like khan does with mayweather like the brutal KO's never happened. Denial.
