I think Burns may have had his run at that level to be honest. Maybe he can rebuild and find a bit of success in another route or whatever but something tells me he is done at that level. His new reluctance to get hit is his main problem from what I can see. Vs Crawford he had that look about him that wasn't sure if he could, or even wanted, to be punched cleanly. A real tell tale sign that a fighter isn't where he should be at mentally, for sure.

I am a fan and have been of both Burns and Crawford but no one is clamouring for a rematch for obvious reasons. And Vasquez would outbox Burns. I dont think Burns beats Abril either. He is kind of stuck right now. Between Crawford, Vasquez, and Abril, we have some serious pure boxers at 135. They are not big punchers and each has little power but they are elite boxers.

For me personally I think he regressed as a fighter, he used to be more consistent with his offense, his coordination was a lot better, didn't throw nearly as wide as he does now. It's rare to see fighters regress like that but that's what I see so far. Against Crawford however he looked like he was afraid to get hit and Burns has never been the tentative type. This pretty much, when he's reticent to take punches and is running to the ropes he should retire, it's not going to work out. Unless he gets some confidence back in his ability to take a shot I only see losses and punishment on the world level for him now. Beating Martinez, Katsidis, Moses, Mitchell winning a title at two weights is a decent career to bow out on.

Burns lost 2 a better fighter & he was man enuf 2 say ot, but b4 this bout he had a gift on his last 1, he was running on borrowed time after the broken jaw...

I enjoyed the fight with Crawford. Ricky had his spurts here and there but never enough to get anything going. I thought if he was more aggressive he could've hurt Crawford. Crawford just seemed to have a response for everything he did. The crowd was insane, I loved it!!!

Ward and Dirrell are very different so you'd need to make a better distinction there. I wasn't overly impressed by Crawford. He's obviously talented but he didn't blow me away with his performance. They are very different no doubt but both like hitting and not getting hit. Dirrell moves quite a lot and is the faster and more skillfull of the two. Ward only makes necessary moves but the common issue here is that they are defensive fighters.

What Ricky needs to do is get out of Europe which skill wise isn't that great and get a way better coach here in the states and waaaaaay better quality sparring here in the states. Then and o lyrics then will he grow or at least do better than he is over there.

He can go after the world commonwealth belt, and fyi Vasquez will frustrate the hell out of burns, his footwork is too good. This is where Burns and his camp lose because they have not fought the better opposition, Vasquez has only lost to Canelo Alvarez and Timothy Bradley, not sure Burns belongs with this group of fighters

LOL at Burns saying the fight was closer than the cards and Crawford got some advantage because of the Beltran fight. Two judges scored it 8-4 in rounds. Crawford outlanded him in 11 of 12 rounds and landed more power shots in 11 of 12. The 116-112 scores were generous to Burns. No need for a rematch. And no way his promoters will send him to the US when he can make good money and have all the advantages of home in Scotland

I don't see who he can beat, he has no chance against Abril, Crawford is far too skill as well, Vasquez probably wipes him out as well maybe his best bet is the IBO title holder Yordan not seen him fight before perhaps Hearn could pay him to come over to Scotland. Who has the WBC title is it Figueroa or is he interim?

Ricky Burns had better stay well away from Vazquez, because Vazquez will retire Burns. Burns is better off to fight another title holder of lightweight, because Vazquez is a better skilled boxer than Crawford. Burns is just as tall as Vazquez, pretty strong physically and has a nice jab. Vazquez won't be able to use his usual "pitter-patter from the outside, clinch when they get close" style against him.

Don't think he'll be winning a title held by any of the four any time soon.

Burns is a very brave guy and quite strong too but very limited in ability. What he lacks in ability he makes up with determination. This is not the end of him, he can still win many fights. People need to know that Crawford is the next best thing now. He will dominate for a long time as long as he stays determined. He's in the same class as Ward and Dirrell in terms of ability and he needs careful management to fully utilise his potential now. I like the kid and I hope he takes over once Mayweather retires. Really like Burns, but as was mentioned earlier he has regressed as a fighter a little. To be fair though a badly broken jaw must have affected his mindset in this fight. Not to say he would have won if the injury hadn't occurred. It may have been closer and he 'may' have edged it but Crawford was excellent at times. Great movement, and I liked how when he was (rarely) tagged clean by Burns he always answered back and went on the offensive. Burns was too 1-dimensional and spent far too many of the middle to later rounds on the ropes. I also don't think there was enough urgency in his corner. At the end of the 11th round Crawfords corner were telling him he needed the 12th. Not so for Ricky... I hadn't seen Crawford fight before and was really impressed. Ricky can get to a world title shot again, I can't see him beating anyone at the moment though.

Who was he fighting though? Guys like Martinez, Mithcell and Katsidis allowed him to do that. To be fair though, he was losing to much lower level guys earlier in his career so I never expected him to even beat those guys.
