He's a smart bloke but he's also got a lot of pride - his team needs to tell him not to take this rematch. If he takes anywhere near the same beating as he did in this fight he really will end up a vegetable.
Golovkin didn't step anything up. The WBA forced Jacobs vs Golovkin. Golovkin would be the face of boxing now had he taken the Lineal champs bluff at 155 in Q4 of 2015. Now he has settled at 160. K2 also rolled with fighting Wade who was on House arrest a week before the bout. Had K2 just pushed a tiny bit of publicity on that alone I would have given K2 mad respect and have attacked Top Rank for not acknowledging Murata to face GGG.
And Ward did school Kovalev. Nowhere in Kova''s career will you have seen his head jacked back on a jab like that throughout the fight. A knockdown? Boone there before on both.
First damn reply in the thread. :lol1:
Someone tries to make a decent, respectful thread and this guy starts spouting bullsh*t in the first response. Only on boxingscene.
Did you watch the replay in slow motion? Golovkin got 2 hard punches in and Jacobs grabbed him on the way down. He was definitely both knocked down and hurt.
Brook vs Spence was not a beatdown. Why do we have to try and change history? It was a back and forth fight until the end when Spence took over.
People are getting completely out of control with this win.
Absolutely. It's a lot closer to 50/50 than most people think. Mikey has the clear edge in power but Loma has the movement.
Let's just hope it happens.
:haha::haha::haha:
You might want to add at LEAST ten years to his age.
Alright, alright. ALLEGEDLY 38 years old, how's that?
People are also forgetting Wilder had a fight setup with Povetkin over in Russia that Povetkin completely screwed up. Obviously that's not a win but at least it counts for him chasing tough fights - a win over Povetkin would be better than a win over Klitschko at this stage, although I personally think Povetkin would've beaten Wilder.
That's real, just look at who's on top
You have Andre Ward and he's considered to be master technician by a lot of fans. Like him or not, but he cleaned out 168 division, doesn't matter if his tactics were illegal or not, the fact remains
...What? That's the whole damn reason on why it matters. If you cheat to win then it's not a legitimate win.
I'll bet GGG is licking his lips.
If GGG does the same then f*ck him. This is pathetic.
Chavez Jr. ain't great at his best, let alone a drained corpse. The least you can do is fight the guy at 168.
Both of these guys are far from being my favorite fighters to watch.
But this time I feel like Golovkin bit off more that he can chew. Tried shoes that doesn't fit. Ended up in the wrong neighborhood. Got in the wrong cab with no driver. In other words he's ****ed up.
Judges won't give him a decision in a close fight, that's for sure and he can't KO Canelo either - this mother****er has good chin and can recover fast
So what would be better gameplan for Golovkin? Get cautious and defensive like he did against Lemieux and keep Canelo at the tip of his jab? Or turn it into a brawl like Brook's fight, hoping to break Canelo's will?
What is this? Canelo hasn't fought anyone even close to GGG's power. He absolutely can KO Canelo and I have no doubt he'll drop him at some point.
Golovkin's plan should be to do what he does best - cut off the ring and force brawling. He is far heavier handed than Canelo so he has the advantage in exchanges. If he continually pressures Canelo and lands consistently he'll stop him before the final bell.
Forget GGG, anyone would've destroyed Jr. tonight. Reyes proved to be a much greater Mexican warrior, he may have taken more punishment but he went out on his shield.
164 Is the same damn weight GGG wanted Ward
I'm talking about fights that actually happen. If he asks the same of Chavez Jr. after what we've seen here then he is a complete coward.
Oscar and Canelo are a horrible image for boxing at the moment. Ditch your god damn CW fights and fight live bodies.
I don't see either of them having much of a chance against a prime Tyson. Too fast, too much movement and once he gets inside they won't be able to do much more than clinch. He'd lay them both out pretty quick.
If GGG-Canelo doesn't happen in September then Golovkin has f*cked another year in his career, which is a huge blow at his age.
Lemieux is always fun to watch but I think Canelo has a lot more options; both bigger and safer.
Canelo is there to be hit and will go through hell like never before; he's never faced someone with the power and ring cutting ability of Golovkin.
Eventually the punishment Canelo takes will be too much and the result will be a stoppage.
BJS beat Eubank Jr and Andy Lee. He's not a bum. He seems to have similar problems to Tyson Fury though - erratic behaviour, ballooning in between fights and lacking motivation after getting a world title.
Chavez Jr has no chance against Lemieux. Considering how hesitant he was against Canelo, and Lemieux is far busier and harder hitting, he will get knocked through retirement and straight into the hospital.
You can't be slow and inactive against Lemieux. Terrible matchup for Jr.
It's all about nationality and race here. Thankfully I come from a country that rarely has good boxers (and I'm now living in Japan) so I don't give a sh*t.
I think he's a solid B to B+ fighter. Which is nothing to sneeze at. But he's not an A guy.
Spence, clearly, is an A guy. And you could see the difference. Brook had several really nice moments in the fight -- yet still in spite of that Spence was really in control from start to finish.
At no point in the fight did it feel like Brook had taken control to the point where the pendulum had started to lean his way. It was leaning in Spence's direction from the opening bell.
I don't know what you were watching but that is absolutely not true. Spence was nervous and apprehensive at first, the fight definitely began at Kell's pace and he was the more comfortable and in control of the two. As it went on Spence took over, but in no way did he dominate that fight from start to finish.
Kell is a great fighter. He counters well, has a solid IQ and is extremely strong. Unfortunately he seems to have issues with either the integrity of his eye sockets or bone density in general, plus he's taken two hugely demoralising losses in a row. He will never be at the top of his game now.
