That's real, just look at who's on top
You have Andre Ward and he's considered to be master technician by a lot of fans. Like him or not, but he cleaned out 168 division, doesn't matter if his tactics were illegal or not, the fact remains
You have Kovalev, you have Stevenson and with that left he has a chance against anybody, any fighter with that kind of power has a chance against anybody
And now you have a lot of talented fighters who doesn't have a belt yet.
Beterbiev with that abnormal power. Gvozdyk has speed
and footwork advantage against almost every fighter at 175. Bivol's punches are not as devastating but he's very accurate with his shots and good timing too
You have Joe Smith, who's the dark horse of the division. Sullivan Barrera with solid amateur background. Eleider Alvarez too, that's 9 great fighter in the division
Even second-tier guys like Pascal, Shabranskyy, Gonzalez, Chilemba would be good wins for any resume
You see a lot of skilled fighters who can punch real hard in that weight class, except for Alvarez and Ward
And what you have at 147?
Pacquiao is on his way out
Amir Khan? I wouldn't be surprised if dude gets dropped if the wind is strong on a bad weather day, he must be training in the gym with closed windows. The type of guy who can get traumatized if he gets hit with a pillow by his wifey on the honeymoon, having doctors putting oxygen mask on his face, wet paper chin
Kell Brook can't get past metal detectors in the airports now
Shawn Porter is not as skilled as half of these LHW's
Who else? Broner?
Thurman and Spencre are the only fighters that this division has to OFFER. Maybe Crawford if he moves up...And even if he does, that won't make 147 better than light heavyweight
175 and 200 are exciting divisions for sure. I'm a big fan of 115 also.
147 has good guys at the very top, but has always been pushed as the glamour division due to it's history. Right now, it's not as good as it has been.
Lol, if Gvozdyk is a grey beard so is Amir Khan and Kell Brook
Definitely older fighters like Berto, Matthysse and Peterson. If Gvozdyk is a grey beard, these guys are walking mummies then
Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia only 1 year younger than Gvozdyk
Not to mention that the biggest name in the division is old ancient president of Philippines
Spence and Thurman are the only young talents at 147
It won't change the fact, the actual oldest boxing champion, will become the next Undisputed champion.

147 is younger with a higher skill level:boxing:
175 is full of grey beards
Beterbiev is not a young fighter nor is Gvozdyk
Bivol ain't sh*t and never will be.

175 is a great division. that and 160 are the hottest divisions right now
Because your man crush (g string) fights there doesn't make 160 a hot division. Anyone who views boxing objectively (this leaves you out) knows 160 is a fairly dead division.
Been saying it for a while now. 175 may be the strongest in boxing. It's 2 divisions in 1, you can't move up 7lbs, you have to move up 15lbs minimum to fight in the next weight class. That's why I'm not really a fan of these lower weight classes, too spread out.
It also produces contenders like Bellew that go on to do big things at cruiser and even heavy.
It's the perfect blend of skill and power, I look at a lot of these lower divisions and see the punches guys get hit with and say to myself, these guys would be put out cold if they took that from a legit puncher like the guys at 175.
People have been calling 147 the strongest weight class for so long it's become a habit. Right now I think it's still a strong weight class because of Thurman and Spence. Pacquiao can still fight well but he is 38 and on the way out. Bradley has seen better days and is almost retired. Garcia and Porter are both good but not outstanding. The light heavyweights have more good fighters right now and is a stronger weight class than welterweights in my opinion.
147 is overrated, I always said that over the last 3 years.
Now that Floyd and Manny (partially) are gone, it's just another division to me.
154, 175 are far deeper.
Hell, HW is also more interesting, better I would say.
Wlad, Wilder, Josh, Fury, Parker is a better hand than Spence, Garcia, Brook, Thurmann, Porter IMO
I think the context for me is exciting in terms of similar talents which make up for a good fight as opposed to be exciting in terms of fighter's skill levels..
Let's be honest 147 with Floyd & pre-senate Manny would have been the same as 175 is right now. Ward & Kovalev are clearly head & shoulders above the rest of the guys at 175(except Chickenson)
HW sure is exciting but AJ,Wlad would be favored over anyone(except Fury as he is not relevant atm)..
For me 147 is exciting because anyone can beat anyone atm.. Brook-Spence was exciting, Thurman-Spence would be even better, Garcia-Porter, Garcia-Brook --> there are a lot of possibilities..
Its an exciting division but the gap between the top 2/3 & the rest who make the top 10 is pretty evident..
the likes of Govzdyk, Beterbiev, Bivol, Joe Smith Jr, Barrera who make up the top 10 would have no chance against Ward/Kovalev & dare I say even a focused Stevenson..
For me the WW & CW are on top followed by LHW, HW & Jr.MW
147 will always draw better than 175 and most Divisions because of its History. It is nothing wrong with 147, one of the biggest match ups in boxing today is at 147 (Spence Jr vs Keith Thurman) on top of Terrance Crawford joining it soon and all are still in their 20's so 147 is still one of the best Divisions in boxing and will only get
175 is a excellent Division as well, very strong at the top with 2 of most Top 5 P4P Rankings fighters in it with Ward and Kovalev of course. Stevenson is also a excellent fighter but after that the rest of the fighters in the Division are still somewhat unproven and a lot of them should start fighting each other to position themselves for a shot at Ward and/or Kovalev! Also if Stevenson not going to fight Ward or Kovalev then he SHOULD fight the the rest of the Division, he should fight Beterbiev, Alvarez and the rest!
With so many fighters floating between divisions it is getting harder to pin down any one division that is most competitive or exciting. I think 130-135 is really heating up with Loma, Linares, Garcia, Berchelt, and Russell Jt. moving up.
Welter will always be the glamour division for me, the problem is that the guy who has most of the talent under contract wasn't matching them up against one another for the longest time. It's only been this year that things are finally heating up.
There are some good fights to be made at LHW, but I think Ward will retire in 2018, and Stevenson keeps thumping his chest about wanting Kovalev while hiding behind Haymon. With Badou Jack moving up to 175 things could heat up quicker, leaving less room for the best at that weight to run. Gvozdyk has the potential to rule the division in 2018 and beyond.
just ain't no Russians in there for you to menstruate over is there, probably a good thing as a Ukrainian would just along and have to beat them into submission before your heart broken eyes.
I have different roots, including ukranian ones, why I'm supposed to be heart broken if some ukranian fighter would defeat some russian fighter? Lol you're retard
So where I was wrong so you had to correct me?
I wasn't agreeing with you I was just correcting you and setting you straight due to your handicap.
Correcting me how? You said the same thing - 147 is a good division but not the best. That doesn't look like correcting. Where I was wrong?
175 is a great division. that and 160 are the hottest divisions right now
Welter for me is a deeper division than middle, name the top guys who can genuinely compete against the elite level boxer currently the no.1 at middle, Jacobs and Canelo ? Not very deep considering the widely held belief GGG is better than both, who else is there ? Charlo hasn't fought a solitary fight there yet, we don't know his level and we're not going off of prospective talent.
That's exactly what I've said, you dumb **** lol. I don't say welter is weak, I've said it's not the most stacked division like some people pretend. It's good to know that you agree
I wasn't agreeing with you I was just correcting you and setting you straight due to your handicap.
I still hold welter as a lofty division, it's not stacked but it has depth to a certain degree

Historically welter, middle and heavy appear to have been the most exciting and glamouros, whilst I hold LH in higher regard than welter right now I still hold welter as a lofty division, it's not stacked but it has depth to a certain degree, just ain't no Russians in there for you to menstruate over is there, probably a good thing as a Ukrainian would just along and have to beat them into submission before your heart broken eyes.
