He quit on himself, his fans, his family his country and his trainer.
He deserves all the heat.
This is the best way to describe it. Clottey brought this to himself. The nerve he had to tell his trainer he wanted to last 12 rounds to prove to Roach that Pacquiao couldn't knock him out. He was only there for that and a paycheck. He deserves all the heat he's getting and does not deserve to be in another PPV main event.
Honestly, I'm curious. Around these boards other boxers are constantly bashed about cherry picking, but no one, Pac fan or otherwise can claim Team Pac has done any different from these fighters they claimed have taken the easy road?
For example, Pac hardly gets any criticism for not fighting Mosely when his camp openly ducked him. I don't get it?
Same for Raheem. Raheem dominates Erik Morales for 11 out of 12 rounds, and instead of fighting Raheem, Manny fights a shot Morales.
You want to talk about cherry picking?
By Roach's own admission DLH was a dead man walking whom no longer desired to fight when he was matched up against Manny. He was literally drained and dehydrated, and this came straight from the mouth of Pacs camp.
Cotto? Again by team Pacs admission, Cotto was damaged goods who'd had his career ruined by Margarito. Did that stop them from fighting and hyping the fight? Nope.
Hatton? Again, by Team Pacs own admission, he'd been ruined by Mayweather, and was coming off a fight where he'd been brutalized by Lazcano. They still fought him.
Clottey? I'll give Manny credit for the fight, but everyone in boxing knew what was coming. Everyone expected Clottey to shell up and take hits, he was taylor made for Pacs style.
Whoever cares to post the video evidence, please do.
I came in here to agree with you but the bold part won't let me do that as a boxing fan I say Pacquiao did not duck Mosley. It's all business.
Toney can barely beat HW boxers...He's gonna beat a HW MMA fighter? I don't think there are gift decisions in MMA. You either knock the other guy out/make him tap out, or he knocks you out or make you tap out. It's rare if a fight goes to the cards in MMA. It's just basically professional street fighting.
forget those people....i'd like to see Jermain Taylor bounce back the most
I was going to put him but then I remembered he said he was gonna take a year off. I was going to put him instead of Sergio Martinez. I would like to see Taylor bounce back as well.
At 160 he already beat Wright and Martinez. You also have Mundine, Sturm, Sylvester, Jacobs is still too green, Rubio is a C class fighter, Manfredo Jr is a C class fighter, Andy Lee still needs more work, Duddy is a good name opponent because he has a decent Irish following, Chavez Jr is not a good fighter but also has a decent name because of his father.
At 154 you have Dzinzuruk, Angulo, Spinks, Martirosyan as the decent names. Then you have the B-, C class fighters like Latimore, Julio, and Santos.
From the aforementioned names the only logical one's would be, Mundine, Sturm, Angulo, and Dzinzuruk.
First thing I thought when I saw Clottey with his shirt off was wow this guy looks skinny as hell. Hopefully he's not drained and gives it 100% tomorrow night.
do you know that boxing would kill for those ppv numbers?
ufc 100 did more than pac-cotto.
ufc 101 did more than mayweather-marquez to some sources.
The top five Pay Per Fighting events of 2009 are as follows:
1.) UFC 100 Lesnar vs Mir / St Pierre vs Alves - 1,500,000+ buys
2.) Pacquiao vs Cotto - 1,250,000 buys
3.) UFC 101 - Penn vs Florian / A. Silva vs Griffin - 1,100,000 buys
4.) Mayweather vs. Marquez - 1,000,000+ buys
5.) UFC 94 - Penn vs St Pierre 2 - 800,000 buys
he has advantages boxing does not.
he controls a majority of the top fighters.
all he has to do is click his fingers and he can make a fight happen.
boxing needs superstars to do good ppv numbers.
ufc just puts on a show and it'll do solid numbers.
i don't know why.
it seems casual fans watch boxing if there's a big fight on.
ufc can get casual fans just by having a show.
maybe it's because boxing sells names. that's why the big name boxing events will usually do better than big name ufc events.
however ufc sells the event itself not just the name. that's why non-big events outdo non-big boxing events.
Lol you also left out how one boxer from a PPV main event, makes more than every fighter in one UFC PPV make as a whole. So let's say $3-5Mill will be distributed to every fighter on the UFC 100 card(not each, they will share it). The lowest fighter on that card would probably make $10-50k, the highest paid fighter would get paid around 300k with a win bonus maybe 450k-600k. MMA can sell all they want, the lesser known pro boxers make as much as the most famous UFC fighters..and that's a fact.
Don't believe me?
UFC 100 Five Ounces Of Pain

See for yourself.
Roberto Duran
Sugar Ray Leonard
Roy Jones Jr
Floyd Mayweather
Joan Guzman
Bernard Hopkins
Kelly Pavlik(@ 168)
Etc
All these guys will tell you one thing that they lost a little bit of while going up in weight. Power. Their KO ratio went down dramatically. If your power keeps rising as you go up in weight and you're a veteran/not a up and coming youngster like Khan/Ortiz(who's bodies can still grow into WW with the same power), and you went through many wars in the lower weights, then you went up unnaturally.
Is he motivated to do this or is just for the money? If he's motivated then why not? He's a man, it's his decision. If it's only for money then he should stay retired altogether.
Joshua Clottey, a guy that no one outside of hardcore boxing fans know, is gonna get paid possibly more than every fighter on whatever next UFC PPV card's salary will be getting paid.
Manny Pacquiao is gonna get paid what 40 UFC fighters make in two UFC PPV cards altogether....in just one HBO PPV.
So who's dying to make UFC type numbers again? :lol1:
No he won't, not yet at least. He'll have to beat Mosley, Pacquiao, and whoever else comes up as the next big money fight for Floyd. Win at least 4 more fights against big name opponents and he can be considered one of the best in boxing history although he already is but more people will believe in him.
P4P lists are not based on simple wins/losses. For example, Williams beat Winky Wright and a lot people brought him down to the lower part of the top 10 P4P list. Why, you may ask yourself? I don't know, probably because of Winky's near 2-year lay off. Another example is Cotto's win over Clottey. Cotto just won a decision over a top 5 WW and very tough opponent; Why did he go down 1-2 slots on some people's P4P lists? Both answers are obvious.
Now i'll leave you to think about who will be #1 from Mayweather and Pacquiao if they beat their next opponents. Did they actually beat them or did they get hometown decisions? Did they dominate their opponents? We'll just have to wait and see. Remember P4P lists are not official, they're all mythical.
If he wouldn't try to be such a clown all the time or try to impress the crowd by taking punches and "ridiculing" his opponents. The only one who looks ridiculous at the end of the day is himself and his record.
And yet he STILL lost the fight…
Yes I think we all know he did but i'm saying the fight was pretty competitive for 7 rounds so the 4 round stamina myth has to be in question. Just because he fought for 4 rounds against Mayweather before Mayweather adjusted to him, doesn't necessarily mean he got tired in 4 rounds. Same with the Cotto fight if I remember the fight was pretty competitive for more than half the fight until Cotto caught up to him I believe in the second half of the fight with vicious body/head punches. You know body punches gets any fighter tired. Just ask Margarito how much those Mosley body punches took out of him.
Btw, i'm not even a Judah fan i'm just telling like it is.
No, i don't think Clottey can beat Sugar. Clottey is 32 not 22 so let's not act like he's this young stud who is coming up and destroying everyone he faces, he's in his 30s just like Sugar. He's simply a tough shell to crack and is capable of beating any top 10 WW.

Pacquiao talking with Ariza: "Okay babes, muahz...Come inject me with that big needle of yours....you know I can't fight without that special milkshake you always put in my ass"
Lol i'm jk.
Well let's not make Pacquiao ad Margarito look like supermen here. We're forgetting that even Corley rocked Cotto. Torres, a Judah coming off a year and a half lay off+two losses(Baldomir and Mayweather) busted up Cotto pretty bad even sent him to the hospital afterwards. Also Mosley landed more power punches on Cotto than anyone has up to that fight and he also landed them very cleanly.
It was just a matter of time, not opponents, that Cotto's defenseless/wreckless all offensive style was going to meet the grimm reaper. You can't possibly take as much punishment as Cotto did at a young age with his poor defense, and stay as an elite fighter. Not to mention he never had the best chin to begin with.
Not hating just saying my opinion.
Keep in mind Clottey lost to Cotto already and Mosley last fought in January or was it February? of 2009. So there you have 2 factors, one for each fight.
i hope matt korobov is on the undercard....
I think he's with Top Rank now.

It's a GBP-Mayweather Promotions based card. Although I do remember him being on the Numero Uno card but now you know Top Rank and GBP/Mayweather have bad blood between them.
Saul Alvarez vs TBA
Daniel Jacobs vs TBA
Yeah probably against tomato cans, hopefully they put them against at least B class fighters. I also think Victor Ortiz will be on the undercard. I just hope the undercard is good enough to help us stay calm until Mosley-Mayweather. The Numero Uno undercard was pretty good, if Mayweather-Mosley's undercard is anything like that then it'll be good.
