He never really had any skills that pop out. Commentary touched on this the very first fight he was showcased in. He just has the intangibles it takes to win and seems to shine in the department that foils whoever is infront of him that given night. Yeah, they're going to start investigating every close fight. Everyone has an opinion on a close fight some just like to state theirs as a fact. These past two weeks are showing signs of the sport heading in a different direction thats posionous for Boxing and will drive casuals away. Now if theres a close fight or someone whos a bum loses like he was supposed to everyone will start screaming fix or robbery.. these terms are starting to be thrown around loosely in a sport that already has a black eye with PED users and the best not fighting the best.

I think Mayweather is a rare breed. Its Boxing IQ and skills on a high l;evel. He can fight on the inside or outside, has good counter punching ability, great defense which can be broken down to good punch resistance, punch awareness, footwork, head movement and pure blocking ability. He has a good job, uppercut, right hand, right hand counter and same with left hand. He has a good shovel body punch and can knows WHEN to put it together.. with all that said he can still be beat...
Punch WITH him. show him relentless pressure. Give him a different look.. end your 3 or 4 punch combo hitting his arms or elbows. Give him a lowblow.. just to throw him off of being in control of the fight(just a low punch not saying intentional foul just mind games during fight) get used to his tendencies.. how does he react after a double jab.. paw 2 jabs and come with an overhand right.. it can be done.
He doesn't have much power compared to other boxers I've seen at 140/147.
Ortiz, Berto, Broner Maidana, Thurman, mathysse, hell even Josesito Lopez hits harder than Danny Gift.
This is a cheap way to put it but I saw him take matty's punches pretty well. I believe hes the only fighter not to drop to the machine but that says more about his chin. Its not always about power.. its knowing HOW to punch and Danny knows how to punch. Do you see him hit the mitts? he has that snap in his punches. That combined with good(not great) pop will still put alot of those you mentioned on their asses... already did with matty.

Im not trying to change anyones mind about whether or not the fight was legit. What I found more silly was that people actually sat there and discussed how the punch felt as if they were the ones taking the shot, and trying to judge the power behind punches with their eyeballs.
I would like to see him in with a boxer.. someone who moves and if he passes that test I believe hes the goods. He has a ton of charisma and will connect with auidences and he doesnt do it in a way that would turn people off either.

Its not mind games.. Opponents are just more aware when facing him. They arent going to show the same pressure, punch output that they would against anyone else. Its more out of respect than fear because they understand his counter punching ability. Thats why everyone who thinks Pacquiao would just blitz through mayweather are day dreaming.. he would fight an even more cautious fight than he does against Marquez. The first person who beats mayweather is going to be a fighter who takes risks and gives as good as he takes.

Just like Ward, Rigo etc... They completely shutdown their opponents. They take away the one weapon the fighter has, because they are one dimensional and thats not their faults. To be competetive with these kind of fighters you have to match them in skills.
