Why aren't GBP making any good fights?

B-U-M-P. The farce continues. Thurman fighting Khan's leftovers in Julio Diaz. Rumours of Danny Swift fighting another no name opponent. Matthyse fighting John Molina, but its his comeback fight so he deserves some leniency. No other interesting match ups in the foreseeable future. Guerrerro, Berto, Alexander, Peterson et al. not having named opponents. Oh and we was robbed of Stevenson - Kovalev.

No joke, earlier today I was debating on whether or not I should cancel my subscription. Nothing coming up is worth the money. Yeah, if you're a subscriber, you're basically just waiting for looong stretches of time before you see any decent fight. PPVs are not for subscribers. Many seem to think just because they're viewed on Showtime, they're part of being a subscriber. And the trend is getting noticeable. Many GBP/Haymon fighters are either on long vacations or rarely fight. Guerrero, Matthysse, Berto, Khan, Alexander, among the obvious ones.... They have around 90 fighters, yet fans rarely see them fight. What's happening? I think Schaefer/Haymon had planned to take over boxing in a huge way. They thought the Mayweather fights will bring truckloads of money in the Showtime coffers and be able to fund numerous fights. They realized that PPVs are really not profitable for networks especially when you're dealing with a guy called Money.

Nothing is being cooked at Showtime these days as far as subscribers are concerned. Seems Showtime can only afford to make Star vs Bum types. They tried to feed another easy fight for Thurman. Porter declined because he's being offered undercard money. Guerrero wants big bucks as well. Regular fights are getting rarer and rarer. I personally thought they've done a good job for the last two years. But obviously can be better; a lot better, if GBP and TOPRANK could have somehow and someway to end this pathetic cold war.

They're slacking on their undercards this year that's for sure. Hopefully it picks up.

Fans say fighters should leave Arum. Gamboa did. Yet he can't get fights with Showtime/GBP/Haymon. Money Mayweather don't even give a fvck about this huge fan of his. What's happening?

Golden Girls is letting the so-called deep division rot away. Alexander vs Khan didn't happen because of Schaefer's/Haymon's fear of Khan losing. Khan would have knocked down soft puncher Alexander with an excruciating body shot, and would have had a title to challenge Money Mayweather.

Why is Espinoza not doing business with other promoters? Why is Gamboa can't even get near Showtime's doorstep? The guy is no longer with Arum. What is this rift between 50 cent and Haymon/Schaefer got to do with Showtime? Remember when Gamboa called out Broner?

I mean there's so many good fights to be made from 140-147. But what have we got on the horizon, Paulie-Porter, I mean not exactly setting the world a light is it? Peterson, Khan, Broner, Thurman, Matthyse, Guerrero, Alexander all haven't been given opponents. There's so many good fights that can be made. I think GBP are hesitant to match their fighters together. Which is why we're seeing fights like karass-Thurman paulie-porter possibly khan-callazo when we should be seeing fights like Danny Garcia-Peterson khan-broner Thurman-Guerrero and so on and so forth. Heck, Ortiz should be made as a gate keeper. I think their trying to serve two masters at the same time ... You can't protect a fighter and at the same time build them up to be stars. One side of the equation has to give.

It just seems like there are no fights on the horizon. I mean we're getting fed Paulie-Porter, interesting fight yes, but could we have something better, most definitely yes.

I have been very please with Gbp recently. Not sure what you are upset about. 2013 was an awesome year of fights. 2014 barely even started

Showtime is supposed to be making truckloads of money off of Mayweather fights. Where is the money? Regular fights for Showtime subscribers are slow to come. All they focused on are PPVs. Let's set things straight. PPVs will kill boxing. Fighters will want to fight less often. If you've noticed, they all want to price themselves out when the opponent has a name. They're becoming Money Mayweathers.

Most of these guys were built up or products of HBO funding with Haymon/GBP matchmaking manipulation. When it came time for HBO to reap the rewards Golden Girls handed them over to a rival network. I then started my Showtime subscription and I rarely see Bernstein, Kenny, et al. All they offer are PPVs, that have nothing to do with subscribers. This Espinoza doesn't even work with other promoters. Team Schaefer/Haymon/Mayweather have been screwing this guy. bump
