Every great fighter in history had that epic fight, that epic moment inside that square circle that we always remember...first thing that comes to my mind is the Ali vs Foreman fight..
In my opinion, to be considered THE BEST EVER, Floyd mayweather lacks that fight, that moment..The fight we will always remember him for....Do you guys think that he will have that EPIC fight in his career, or win by UD the rest of his fights and retire without it??
Why take a risk if you do not have to??
Picture history's most successful/influential people saying this.
He fights for the money (which he's damn good at) not for the legacy; no risk necessary.
Fighting Pac would have been that fight.
Imagine if Ali never fought Foreman, or if Hagler never fought Hearn.
Imagine if SRL never fought Duran. If Tyson had never fought Holyfield.
That's what Floyd is doing by ignoring Pac. Refusing to fight the counterpart in his era.
no it wouldn't Pacquiao would have been just another unmemorable one sided UD ,and another heavy underdog at the bookies

What were the epic moments in Roy Jones and Sweet Pea's careers?
You can't penalize a fighter for dominating whoever they put in front of him.
Toney and Chavez?
Doesn't have to be epic in the sense of a great hard fight, but simply a fight against someone who is a 100% proven great themselves.
I think it was pretty epic when Hatton ran head 1st into the turn buckle while the crowd still sang "theres only 1 ricky hatton"..but i really do not know what you are asking for...the point is to win period and thats what he does
The point is to beat the best and in taking on the best you're going to have some epic fights. Floyd hasn't taken on the best and therefore hasn't had any epic fights.
Corrales, Gatti, Hatton were all top names he beat very convincingly. What are you asking for? That's three for three in the TKO department. Hatton had one of the largest fan bases in boxing.
I don't know about epic fight but he's never had an epic matchup. Oscar was shot and Canelo was not on his level. Those are the closest so far but there was no Sergio, Manny, etc. Makes his resume pretty uninspiring
could have been.
not anymore.
Plenty of people said the same about Leonard-Hagler.
Mayweather and Pacquiao are STILL......YES STILL TWO OF THE TOP THREE FIGHTERS IN THE WORLD.
:haha: So you are OK with Floyd cherry picking ..... got it!
hes talking about his style of fighting and opening up more offensively thats what he means by risk not opponents, any ranked pro fighter is a risk by the way
I thought they Hatton fight was epic. The atmosphere was crazy wit the British fans cheering their guy. Both guys were undefeated and Hatton had a rough style that previously gave Floyd problems (Castillo). To see Floyd knock out an undefeated fighter after 10 grueling rounds was epic to me!
Hatton - Floyd was freaking epic.
The build-up to the fight was incredible. Probably the best 24/7 I've seen. Hatton was really confident, he hasn ever been the same after that (got some personnal problems after the fight). It was Europe vs USA, the matador vs the bull. Two undefeated fighters. The atmosphere during the fight was crazy, with all Hatton's fight singing. I've rarely been that stressed during a fight.
Still, it's boxingscene, so people will revise history and say it was a bad win and find 100 reasons to downplay that win, but back at the time, when the bell rang, people were going crazy.
Note : After the JLC-Hatton fight many people claimed Floyd would never fight Hatton...
Manny wasn't fighting at welterweight in 2011? lol, you sure man?

now go fuck yourself, you lil bitch.
In 2011 but not when margarito and Sergio were welterweights.

An epic moment I remember from Roy Jones career was when he dropped his guard and started clowning a guy.
He woke up looking at stage lights.
