Marquez - Your uppercuts, combination punching and accuracy is an art and what every boxer should aspire to be able to do. However, I don't want to see you fight Pacquiao a 4th time and you need to let it go. Your obsession with him undermines all your other accomplishments. Become the lineal champ at 140 and retire, you're already a legend.
Mayweather - Your skills, ring intelligence and patience and composure in the ring is second to none. With that said, make the Pacquiao fight and stop making excuses.
The word quit is thrown around to cavalierly. When you are getting battered, calling an end to the fight isn't quitting. Quitting is when you are not hurt and you choose to stop (Tor Hamer, Facelube)
I agree with this which is why I chose it depends why they quit. I've had the **** kicked out of me in the ring before and it's very humbling so I don't fault guys who decide they've had enough. There's more to life than the moment. However, I don't quite have the same sympathy for the guys who show up for the payday and quit/take dives, etc.
QUESTION TO YOU GUYS
1.So I would like to know your ideas as to why is Team Pacquiao making them getting 50% of the revenue a sticking point in order for the fight to happen..???
2.And Is Team Mayweather Justified in turning down Team Pacquiao demands due to the fact, that they through their body of work have earned the right to earned more money based on the fact they bring in more money.
I think it's totally fair. Pacquiao has fought better current opposition over the past 3 years, was named fighter of the decade and also holds the record for most belts won in a division, not to mention his style is, for all intents and purposes, more fan friendly than Mayweathers.
Now before you go assuming I'm a pacfan or mayweather hater, let me stop you right there and say I am neither. Truthfully, I prefer Mayweather's technique and skill over Pacquiao's. As a fan of boxing, I want the fight to be made. I want ego's put aside. PPV numbers don't mean shit to me or what caliber fighter you are. Pacquiao has made the concessions to the testing and both fighters stand to make a shit load of money. Quit screwing the fans who just want to see boxing at it's best and make the fight.
James Toney wasn't looking to be built up, he was looking for a quick and sizeable payday and that's what he got. I sincerely doubt he will continue to fight in MMA.
I'd like to see them fight each other. I really was big on Berto for a while but as of now I've been disappointed with his opposition, though his win against Quintana was solid.
What the hell is the obsession with this guy?
I disagree. I think he stops Angulo. It would be an awesome fight and I hope it gets made because their styles=fireworks.
Paul Williams tends to end up sitting and trading to much and that will cost him against Kirkland. If Williams sticks to boxing and uses his reach then he can nullify Kirkland but that's a big if.
I think out of anyone having the best chance against Kirkland of the 3 is Martinez. If he can stay on his toes and box like he usually does than I think he wins a decision.
With all this said, Kirkland's pressure is unrelenting so if anyone of these guys fails to establish a good jab, it's over.
In either of these fights he's in a lose-lose situation. He'll get big paydays against both (a more respected one against Pacquiao) but the way I see it, if he fights Morales, boxing fans call it a farce and criticize Marquez for facing a washed up Morales. If he fights Pacquiao, it will clealry be on Pacquiao's terms at a weight that everyone and their dog knows gives Marquez no chance to win. Those two should have fought at 135, that's when it was at it's peak and probably the most evenly matched. Marquez might have a chance at 140 but anything more will see him getting knocked out. That fight is past it's time, period. Marquez should fight Khan, or one of the 140 lb titlists and then retire.
I think Pacquiao-Mosley would be a more exciting fight but Pacquiao-Mayweather has much more importance to it. Pacquiao will no doubt be the one everyone looks to to make the fight exciting. I still want to see this fight come to fruition. It will be very tactical for the first 4 rounds and then I would expect Pacquiao to turn it up and start taking some more chances. During their first negotiations, I had Mayweather without a doubt winning this match but may be leaning slightly towards Pacquiao if for no other reason than for seeing him fight more and being able to gauge his current form. Mayweather's inconsitency of getting in the ring is leaving me with to many variables to comfortably be able to pick him as a clear cut winner. I hope it happens.
You can't us the logic that Pacquiao took Cotto's best shots so Mayweather won't be able to do anything to him. Mayweather is still one of the most accurate fighters in the sport, much moreso than Cotto. However, between watching Floyd's fights and WW and now Pacquiao's at WW, I definitely think Pacquiao has the edge in speed. Mayweather's speed at LW is comparable to Pacquiao's currently but his accuracy back then far surpasses Pacquiao's any day. Manny is a slippery little guy though and I'd be curious to see how accurate Floyd could be against him.
It's not a case of Pacquiao becoming better than Floyd as much as it was Mayweather leaving boxing and the spot needing to be filled. Pacquiao had the next legitimate claims to that spot and solidified his position there by taking on better challenges in his most recent fights than Mayweather. I still think Mayweather outboxes Pacquiao if they fight. I honestly believe he is the only person out there right now who can beat Manny Pacquiao.

haaaaayyyyy!
All this speculation of who got knocked down doesn't really matter. What matters is the Abraham hit him when he was down, got DQ'd and now has a loss on his record. I like Abrahamn but that was dirty, period. In other news, I can't wait to see him knock Froch silly in August. How satisfying that will be!
this fight's going to be awesome
i like both guys but i just have a feeling that carl froch has it coming, all the trash talkin, boasting, etc.
froch probably thinks he can stand there and trade with abraham (i applaud his courage) but i honestly don't think he's going to be able to take too many right hands. especially taking into consideration that froch doesn't have much lateral or head movement, he'll be there to eat bombs. on the other hand, who knows, froch might hurt abraham.
vee vill see
Abraham has deceptively quick hands too so his ability to land a right, on an all to willing to sit and trade Froch, is there. I notice when desperation hits Abraham, he moves quick.
Wrong names to compare with the group of Duran, Hagler, Hearns and Leonard.
This generation's version of the Fab Four are-->> Barrera, Morales, Pacquiao, and Marquez.
I'd tend to agree with this statement.
It's hard to say, I think JMM-Diaz will be an exciting tactical match with amazing combinations. I think Hatton-Pacquiao will be more of a brawl. Both will be great fights but I see the bigger battle between Marquez and Diaz. I just think Hatton's past it and his leaky defense is gonna allow Pacquiao to put the hurt on Ricky big.
