How lame is Pac-Marg for Pac's 8th division title?

Really hoping Montiel-Donaire gets done. Also hyped for both Super 6 fights They're talking about it happening on the undercard of the Cotto/Chavez fight on the 4th i believe!

It's a letdown in terms of the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight not happening but this will be a war anyways so just enjoy it folks. True, it will at least have some excitement value as Margarito will pretty much sacrifice it all for a last payday and well know this. I will however go out and point out a few things since the first post: 1) Cotto @ 147 wouldn't have changed anything at all, its just would've been nice to have the fight @ 147. 2) After the whole "talks and negotiations are going well" to "there were none" incident I don't see Top Rank and GBP doing any business for a while together so the fact is I can't put 100% blame for Top Rank having in house fights, GBP will be doing it . 3) Alexander and Bradley are relative unknowns outside boxing fans with limited fan base. Margarito's fan base are his adoring Mexican public who will buy the card and support "their" man. Does this suck? Yes. Is it fair? Yes. If you were asked to fight a guy who brings in you more cash than another guy who doesn't who would YOU pick? So that's a question I'd say everyone should ask themselves because while I personally wish it were Bradley vs Pac, I'd also say I'd take the Margarito fight myself given the 3x payout because I'm honest enough to accept the fact that making money isn't a bad thing either. 4) IF Bradley beats Alexander, it might generate enough fan base to at least make a Bradley fight reasonable. Works vice-versa too. 5) Pwill and Berto are Haymons guys and I don't see Aurum talking to Haymon about a fight. So we shouldn't expect it either or blindly ask for it. If any fight involves GBP or Al Haymon working with Top Rank we should just kill it there because its useless to assume they will let things wash over fast. If you can get the 2 camps to make a fight that will get them millions over, can you honestly expect them to work together to make peanuts? 6) Pac still is gonna use mileage for this fight while someone else is out in Florida with Don King. Its a case of "who am I MORE pissed at" and its the guy whose hanging out with Don King. Frankly if Don King is your plan B...its a damn poor plan B and let me tell you that any means to defend is worthless, can't defend teaming up with Don King, just can't. Just ask Moe Sizlak (get the humor?)

January called and it wants it's sorry ass argument back! That is not the same comparison to this fight, Lalonde was champion at LHW and the SMW title was vacant, i think SRL came in only one pound less than the limit of SMW. Margs is a cheater and has done nothing to earn a shot. The circumstances are a bit different than the Lalonde fight.

On a scale of 1-5, 5 being extremely lame, and 1 being only slightly lame. Manny Pacquiao fighting the disgraced Antonio Margarito for a vacant belt at a catchweight for Pac's 8th division. This would make it twice that Pac fought for a paper belt at a catchweight. And yet we're supposed to believe this is adding to his legacy. :puke: this fight is as lame as it gets, plaster wrap wearing bum margacheato vs catchweightking weight drainer manroid pacgwire.

1/2 an inch taller than DLH wont make a difference......hes too slow and clumsy to technically beat Pac... Actually the main difference between DLH and Marg will be that Marg won't have to kill himself to make the weight

I'm dissapointed that its for a title, 150 is bullshit for a start and the thought of him fighting Marg for his 8th title seems like a sneaky way to steal history. With that said, there could be MUCH worst fights made... the fight isn't that bad, its just that its for a title. I voted 1, cause Manny could have picked a much worst opponent if he wanted to.

so what... they beat him at 147 and they would must likely beat him at 154. People would have been bitching non stop if Pac fought Cotto at 154 for the title despite it being "legitimate" as you claim. Why? because Pac beat Cotto pretty decisively. Thus, the fact that Cotto "accomplished" more doesn't mean shit in that scenario. Pac should be fighting Mayweather and Margarito should be fighting Cotto at 154 for the title then after the mayweather fight pac should have fought the winner of that fight. however, boxing is not like that and instead we are given a bullshit fight with bullshit stipulations. Lets deal with reality and facts. Not fantasy and fictional fights. Neither has fought Cotto at 154. Neither has accomplished anything at 154. Cotto has. You can spin it any way you want but facts are facts. Hypothetical's mean nothing. Cotto won his belt the right way so in no way can you include him to justify your point.
