This is not an excuse but the one thing he did that made him not fair well is he did not keep using his MONEY PUNCH that straight left! or go to the body more. I heard freddie roach say Pacman was one dimensional and this and that and he will prove the people wrong by adding a Manila Ice right hook. I think a true fighter does not care or change there style to please the crowd look at hopkins he keeps winning, look at Kostya Tszyu he always unleashes that straight right. One dimensional yes but add extra things to your arsenal but never disregard your Weapon.
that was his big ass mistake!
I disagree. He had no problem letting his left go. When it did land it did do damage. Just not enough. Roach told him in the corner and he was absolutely right, not to let Morales back him up. Pacquaio cannot fight going backward and neither can Morales. It really just came down to Morales' superior size and skill.
Sure Zab is quick but he gets way too wild. When Floyd settles in he will Eat him up.
But, if anyone has a shot at legitimately flooring Floyd, It is Zab because his shots come from unpredictable angles.
Floyd makes this fight happen.....he is a 4 division titlist.
Jones said something REALLY stupid when he was talking about Chris Byrd.
He said Byrd was CLEARLY beating Vitali and that Byrd-Wladimir K was a close fight.
never compared him to Chavez...i said he was better than Castillo and Castillo beat Mayweather.
I didn't say you did. But how has Hatton shown a good body attack except for him commitment to it? How many KOs from bodyshots does he have against decent comp?
Old,
I too feel that Floyd's quickness on the inside will neutralize what Hatton tries to do when he gets in close. I don't care how strong Hatton is, you can't land any good body shots if your head is bouncing like a speed bag.
Alright kiddo... no need to be rude...
Hatton will hurt Mayweather quite simply because he's a bigger man.
Oh quit bein so sensitive. I am sorry didn't Monty Python come from your country?
Whatever the reach... It ain't gonna help Floyd "feather-fisted" Mayweather when he's got the No.1 Light-welterweight in the WORLD hammering his body with acute body shots!
REMOVE HATTON'S NUTS FROM YOUR MOUTH.
Good lord. If Castillo couldn't hurt Floyd significantly to the body, how is Hatton going to?
I was just wondering how he thought Floyd would neutralize his pressure. It's easy to say that he would "just do it" but I was just asking for a friendly explanation.
Floyd does have quick hands on the inside, and he moves well, but if Hatton is effectively aggressive he could have something. Castillo showed the blueprint in 2 close fights, Hatton is (imo right now) another Castillo being thrown at Floyd. Hatton can definitely take a good amount of abuse, and if he keeps throwing non-stop he could outlast Floyd and get him out of there late.
All that being said, I bet on a Floyd UD no doubt but if Hatton came in like there was no tommorow he could topple PBF. This ain't like Gatti where we just know who's going to win, and Floyd has shown that he's vulnerable to punches that he can't see.
Well I credit you for making someone explain a statement they make then....
Mayweather
5'8
72 Inch reach
Hatton
5'6
65 inch reach
With Mayweathers Superior Skills I think his 7 Inch reach advantage would be to much for Hatton..Mayweather is 2 good...Hatton would end the fight and his face will look like Lunch Meat...
If Hatton fought at a distance what you say is true. But Hatton ALWAYS mauls his opponents. His short arms are perfect for working on the inside.
Though I won't debate that Floyd wins this fight.
Roy will always be able to say "youve never been in the ring Larry how would you know" or something to that effect...even if Roy is dead wrong with what he is saying and LArry makes a great point Roy can always go back to that...
A fighters perspective is great to have and I think that there has to be a more low profile former fighter that can really give good insight...Roy does not give good insight 9 times out of ten.
Oh and the next time HBO has a great fight on and the two fighters are going back and forht and Jones makes a comment LArry should say "how would you know Roy, you have never been in a give and take fight before Roy"
Foreman actually did say that once. Larry said "Quit pulling rank on me George."
In Nelson-Fenech 1, Pacheco said something like: "Fenech fending off the warrior nation of Azumah Nelson."
At least shit Larry says USUALLY makes sense.
Lampley and Bernstein calling the fights
Keep Merchant for interveiws post fight (like Jim Grey)
No Max Kellerman would work for me
I like Al Bernstein too....
People who think Larry is bad forget "Dr." Ferdie Pacheco.
b/c Hatton is a much more devistatin body puncher than Castillo. and besides Castillo BEAT Floyd.
Hatton COMMITS more to the body than other fighters. That doesn't mean he is more effective. I am sorry, a body shot KO over Mike Stewart doesn't make you Julio Cesar Chavez.
that NY heavyweight who punched Richard Grant following their fight, can't remember his name.....
James "The Harlem Hammer" Butler
In a horrible twist of irony, Max's brother was bludgeoned to death, with a hammer by the hammer.
Okay If I go further I will actually laugh, which would make me feel rotten.
I think I will pick Castillo in the rematch. His durability suprised me. I had initially picked Corrales, then Castillo. I think Castillo wins a decision. There were two somewhat fluky things that happened that enabled Corrales to when.
1-Corrales spit out his mouthpiece TWICE to buy recovery time.
2-Corrales caught Castillo with a hail mary punch at the end....
I am not sure if fortune will favor Corrales so much again.
Either way, it was a great fight. The best lightweight fight in the last decade probably.....
Cotto definitely has the momentum, but Abdullaev is real tough. The guy can really bang too. Cotto will not be able to push him around like he did Corley.
Ya know, I really think it is stupid when a fighter from a higher weight class calls out someone from a lower weight class.....I mean, he is essentially picking a fight with a smaller man. Besides, Corrales should be more focused on getting healthy so Castillo can knock him out again.
Oh really? How many title defenses does he have exactly?
Pretender, your name says it all.
It isn't even a requirement for a great fighter to have EVER held a title.
Anyways, 3 title defenses, the first time he got the WBC strap. One against Stevie Johnston, the other against another former champ Cesar Bazan.
Second time around he kicked the living shit out of Juan Lazcano who was favored, for the title. Then beat Casamayor and Julio Diaz (a current title holder) in the next defenses.
Castillo is a top 15 LB4LBer.
JESUS! Ruiz just WON'T go away will he?
I think the exception to the substance rule should be Marijuana. I mean, Marijuana is NOT a performance ENHANCING drug. I mean shit, I know I couldn't fight high. THe fact that Emanuel Augustus manages it should make him a hall of famer.
