If I am not mistaken, isn't this his first appearance calling a fight since his brother's murder.
I wouldn't mind seeing him back on HBO.
I think him and Larry would be great together ringside.
"Larry Merchant reminds me of the disabled guy in Office Space, I bet they stopped paying Merchant about 15 years ago but he still somehow shows up to work on fight nights"
That was the funniest shit ive read in a long time.
Simply Awesome
In Nelson-Fenech 1, Pacheco said something like: "Fenech fending off the warrior nation of Azumah Nelson."
At least shit Larry says USUALLY makes sense.
GOOD CALL (1st topic we agreed on, holy $hit-bricks!), we all forgot about how horrible Ferdie Pacheco was.....here's one of his classics:
during Bruce Seldon-Joe Hipp, Albert and Czyz were talking about what Joe Hipp's longer-version last name translated into in his Native American language, and Pacheco goes: "No I think his name translates into Eat A Jab".....Czyz and Albert were freakin SPEECHLESS!
I guess that was not that bad a comment, I love Joe "the boss" Hipp and he is from my state and I used to work with his cousin but that night against SEldon Joe blocked the jab all night long with his face...I have never seen a HW eat so many damn jabs.
I like Al Bernstein too....
People who think Larry is bad forget "Dr." Ferdie Pacheco.
I hated the fight doctor, I still remember him questio0ning Gerald McClellan's heart during the Benn fight.

Lampley and Bernstein calling the fights
Keep Merchant for interveiws post fight (like Jim Grey)
No Max Kellerman would work for me

merchant will never leave hbo, and hbo will never fire him. i hope he dies right in the middle of a ppv telecast, that would be funny as hell

Personally i like larry merchant. He is the only announcer that is not afraid to say anything to anyone. If he thinks you threw the fight he will say so. It doesnt matter who you are, he will ask the questions. Yes he rambles on when he is looking at the camera, but when he's in front of a fighter he gets right to the point. And that is something that neither lampley nor Jones would be willing do. So IMO i say they get rid of jones and go with lampley, merchant and Kellerman.
I would go with jones, lampley, and kellerman, I think kellerman is the type of guy who is willing to get rigt to the point with fighter 1 on 1. Merchant is just too old now and we need someone in this sport who can connect with the younger audience.

Roy will always be able to say "youve never been in the ring Larry how would you know" or something to that effect...even if Roy is dead wrong with what he is saying and LArry makes a great point Roy can always go back to that...
A fighters perspective is great to have and I think that there has to be a more low profile former fighter that can really give good insight...Roy does not give good insight 9 times out of ten.
Oh and the next time HBO has a great fight on and the two fighters are going back and forht and Jones makes a comment LArry should say "how would you know Roy, you have never been in a give and take fight before Roy"
Heh that's funny. Roy would be all

Foreman actually did say that once. Larry said "Quit pulling rank on me George."
Yeah it was after the Toney/Ruiz fight...Lampley corrected him though and then Jones tried to back track and that was just an awful mess.
Scap, I think Jones has been spot on with his calls lately and has predicted a lot of what was going to happen in fights. He was 100% correct about the Toney/Ruiz fight and can get away with saying some things because he's actually been in the ring at the highest level. I loved it when he called out Larry for whatever dumbass thing that Larry said and then Roy called him out with, "you've never been in the ring Larry how would you know" or something to that effect.

Jones said something REALLY stupid when he was talking about Chris Byrd.
He said Byrd was CLEARLY beating Vitali and that Byrd-Wladimir K was a close fight.

I like Merchant and think that Lampley, Merchant and Kellerman would be awesome...Roy Jones is a piece of shit, for a guy who has fought for as long as he has he ads nothing from the fighters perspective...he is still way to full of himself and Im not sure that he knows he was brutually ko'd twice...he is still fucking shocked when he looks at the p4p rankings and cant find his name, he has to wonder how he dropped from the rankings when he is still unbeaten.
Oh yes it was very nice to see Max on the broadcast, dont always agree with him but man I love him and undestand how good he is for our sport!
...Those Jones comments were priceless. lol lol lol

that NY heavyweight who punched Richard Grant following their fight, can't remember his name.....
James "The Harlem Hammer" Butler
In a horrible twist of irony, Max's brother was bludgeoned to death, with a hammer by the hammer.
Okay If I go further I will actually laugh, which would make me feel rotten.
ehh I like larry with his crazy comments, by the way how his brother murdered
JAMES BUTLER killed him (finally remembered his name).....Max set-up a room-mate situation between Bulter and max's brother, James tweeked out one night and brutally murdered Max's brother
