Ruiz: I want my belt back!
QUIET MAN DECIDES NOT TO RETIRE
Former two-time World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John "The Quietman" Ruiz announced today that, after speaking with his family and management team, he has reconsidered his decision to retire and will continue fighting. Ruiz retired April 30 immediately after losing a 12-round decision to James "Lights Out" Toney at Madison Square Garden. "My emotional decision, coming right after losing a fight I felt I won, was premature," Ruiz explained. "I was tired of all the criticism and felt everybody was against me. After reviewing the tape and talking it over with my advisors, I decided that I don't want to go out that way. If they want me out of the sport, they're going to have to knock me out. I'm back. "I want my WBA belt back. I still feel that I'm the best heavyweight in the world and I'm willing to fight any of the top heavyweights."
BOO-YAA!!!
That's right. Ruiz 10x the champ Tyson ever was. Ruiz had the mind and heart of a champion where Tyson did not.
I know this thread is of John Ruiz...but can u back up all ur points please!?
I don't believe this "so called newsflash" that Ruiz is out of retirement. I checked on Espn.com and I didn't see anything. Which reputable news source is reporting this news?
My bad, I just looked at the news stories on this website(I trust boxingscene.com) and read the news. I posted a reply on a thread no one week ago about how Ruiz would come out of retirement once he runs outa money...I guess he did! ;)

nooooooo
cant blame him though cos hw division is rubbish at the mo imo
i new he would come back i made a thread about it (how long until ruiz comes bak)
Let me see, Ruiz will be positioned as the mandatory challenger again by the WBA. Well, where is Toney waiting for? Perhaps this time he could finish the unfinished business by KO Ruiz. This time he will get more preparation time than the first fight.
Doesn't mean ANYTHING although it pains me to say it I think Ruiz might hug his way through this one.
Maybe ruiz would hold him and Tyson would counter with his classic side-step ear bite.
Because they fought on the outside, well I do believe Ruiz would have beaten Toney with his traditional style.
You stay on the outside and you beat Ruiz, you would think these so called "professionals" would know better.
His victories are due to the lack of better judgement by the referees. Punch and hug is not boxing.
Cant put the blame on Ruiz if it isnt broken why fix it? Blame the refs dont hate on Ruiz he is just doing his job.
Is it Ruizs' fault that his opponents will let him hug him and punch at will? No, his opponents can lean back and shove him onto the ground but they choose not to. They even choose not to punch and Ruiz will land the more punches....
Fuck out of here hating on Ruiz style being effective, blame it on his opponents for not doing something.
Prime example, Rahman is an outside fighter and he chose to fight Ruiz close? Why? ask him?
Jinx are you really a Ruiz fan? :D
I am a fan of his accomplishments, I respect Ruiz for being an average joe and being one of the top heavyweights and beating top opposition. His style might be ugly but it is effective and I have to respect that.
Yep. Rugged powerpunchers are not very good for clinchers. Does not look good. Ruiz would get smoked by Tyson and Brewster.
Not to mention Vitali and Wlad.
Wlad would eat Ruiz alive coming in if they fought. Fuck yeah, welcome back Ruiz, have him fight Wlad. A tune-up for The Pretender/Anorak's Messiah Ruiz can be the little Klitschko.
Styles make fights.
