Everyone wants that belt the most why is it?
I like the idea of multiple belts and multiple champions because it cause more friction and forces people to fight and claim who the true champ is of that division makes them hungrier to come get that title from someone.
it goes like this most important belts...
WBC
IBF
WBA
WBO
What do you think is the most important belt I know alot of you will say its not the belt but who wears the belt that is the true champion! but lets put that aside and you tell me what belts have the most significance in order?
I disagree with the Ring title too. The Ring can get it wrong too. Though, I'll say they are BY FAR more credible than the sanctioning bodies.
Yes, none of the titles are really better than each other, but yeah, in my mind, the WBC feels like the best of the four. The first guy had the order which feels right. WBA lost credibility with that stupid Super Champion junk. It is just a racket, all the sanctioning bodies. Anyone charging fees for championships can't be right. What other sport do athletes have to pay to be recognized as champion?
Know what happens if Zab Judah doesn't pay his sanctioning fees? They take his titles away. That's bullshit. And what happens if Judah fights DLH and its a close fight? The governing bodies take equal percentage of each fighter's purse, so they'll give the match to the bigger named fighter regardless. This is crooked and wrong. The bigger named fighter means bigger paydays. Say the sanctioning bodies get 5 percent of each fighter's purse. 5 percent of DLH's purses will always be more money than 5 percent of most other peoples' purses. It is truly amazing that Shane Mosley won either fight against DLH.
So what is my problem with The Ring? Mainly its still too unofficial. Its biased reporters, editors deciding. Yeah, they're going more on merit, so its not like they'll get it way wrong or anything. But people say that neo-cliche of "I only accept the Ring belt" but I don't believe anybody REALLY considers the Ring belt the real belt, not deep down. It takes the boxers accepting the Ring belt more, casting down the other belts. That's hard to do. Those belts have a lot of history.
One day I do believe something or someone will come along and really fix boxing. One thing that has to be done is to get rid of so many false titles. They add confusion, water down the champions. I know those titles have a lot of history, but I won't miss the belts. Do I really want hugger JR holding the same title that someone like Muhammad Ali held? It is like others said, it isn't the belts that make the fighters...definitely not.
^I agree I am sick of that sanctioning fees. But I do agree with them having to fight mandatories or else they lose the belt because alot of fighters have mandatories they dont wanna fight like tarver, wright and marquez were so those champs in the division dodged them and lost the belt that way instead of losing the belt through the real way by fighting, I think that is coward junk when fighters don't fight the fighters that they are supposed to fight.

The WBC is not the true title any more than any other alphabet title.
Do you really think that Tomascz Adamek is the true light heavyweight champion over Tarver and Johnson?
How about Gatti over Tszyu?
Markus Beyer over Jeff Lacy or Joe Calzaghe?
Javier Castillejo over Kassim Ouma?
Katsunari Takayama over Ivan Calderon?
All 4 alphabet organizations have their own motivations and their own politics. If you think more WBC champions are credible at this moment than some of the others, it is just a coincidence.
Great points, I've got to go with Ring title as well.
true title is none.......thank god we have amateur boxing to know who the best amateur is in the world.....world championships and olympics......
whether we like it or not, boxing is so corrupt and unfair that we rarely know who the real champ is................
Weeks did the right thing, let it slide the first time, deduct a point the second and would have disqualified him the third.
That was a 10-6 round for Castillo! That's fair. If Castillo stay calm and continue to box, he wins easily but he goes out and gamble with a puncher.
Jose Sulaiman from the WBC is simply an asshole, this fight needs a rematch but don't go out and disrespect a referee who did is job!
you do realize that what chico coralles was doing wasnt fair.
he got dropped and was given far to much time to recover, it wasnt fair to castillo who was winning that fight because it was just enough time for coralles to recover and land a bomb, a punch that would have never come about had corrales only had the appropriate 10 seconds to recover.
Yeah. Seriously G-Dub, he was saying that the mouthpiece spitting was bullshit, and something should be done about it, because Castillo would have won had Coralles not done that.
WBC suck big time! The president is a mexicain and recently in the Castillo-Corrales fight he said that the referee (Weeks) gave too much chances to Corrales and wasn't fair to Castillo (who is mexicain too!). Apparently That asshole wants to see fighter get kill in the ring.
The only good news from this, Castillo-Corrales 2.
But aside from that WBC is bullshit just like the other!

Ring magazine belts how are those awarded? I heard for outstanding excellence in boxing.
Don't the Ring Mag champions (for each division) each year get a Ring belt?
WBC is the most attractive belt to have in your possession, but many times the WBC champion is not the best in the division.
Just off the top of my head, here's a list of recent fighters who only held the WBO version but were all Ring Magazine champions-
Chris Eubank
Marco Antonio Barrera
Naseem Hamed
Dariusz Michalczewski
Joe Calzaghe
-all they held were WBO titles, yet they were awarded Ring Mag belts.
So really, the federations are just alphabet crap!
So is Ring if they think Calfaggie is better than Lacy is. Lacy's gonna kill him if that faggot ever crosses the sea.

but the WBC belt is the belt that most fighters if not all think ist he one to shoot for, fighters fight for money but the belt they want is that WBC green belt for some reason.
They want it because it's green like money...
