Itll be intresting to see how brook looks on the 28th. I know its only a tune up but with the leg injury and all. If he looks 100% i give him a good chance to beat any one at 147 not named floy or pac
Nope. There's a lot of history with Bradley. I have been waiting for that fight almost as long as Mayweather-Pacquaio so personally I would like that fight.
I've supported Brook since his early days when you had probably never heard of him. Brook-Khan is a win/win situation for me so if that happens, then great.
Who you think wins? Brook or khan?
Always thought Khan would win the fight.
I find it a tuff one to pick. Would love to see it in the summer, I think now is the right time. I think khan sweeps the first 4 or 5 rounds probably with his speed in and out and clinching. But I think as the fight gos on brook starts timing him and stops him late.
I'm going to see brook on the 28th my first live fight. Looking forward to that
What wide looping shot? Do you mean the Marquez KO :lol1: that was a short right hand he ran right into.
He means the first kd. Which 1 has declined more is hard to say, they have both definitely declined a lot. What I would say is that I wouldn't pay too much attention to PAC's fights with rios and algieri as i think it's clear he was cruising, he had a few gears to go up if he needed to.
Hearns was weighing less than Cotto, when Pacquiao fought Cotto
I don't care what he weighed the day before a fight when he was 22. He's 6"1 and fought as high as cruiser weight! PAC can't win this fight
Floyd got 1 fight after this on his showtime contract? What do you see these 2 doing after this fight, who will floyd fight should he win or loose? Do you think PAC will fight again win or loose?
Because it is an irrefutable fact that he did make him quit. Why are you even attempting to argue this matter?
Duran quit, no one made him. He wasn't hurn and he wasn't loosing by a wide if any margin
He quit because of his own inability to deal with what was in front of him, and by his own account didn't want to risk getting hurt or risk getting stopped. Every fighter that quits in a fight does so on his own account.
How can you say Duran couldn't cope with what was in front of him when the fight was close? I suppose you could say he couldn't cope with the clowning if that's what you mean?
The fight was close when it finished so I don't understand when people say Leonard made Duran quit. I don't think Duran was mentally up to fighting for whatever reason. We sore they fight when they were both at there best and we know who won. Duran > Leonard
No, I mean he could do nothing to negate Leonard that night. Winning two relatively unconvincing rounds doesn't change the fact that he was incapable of pinning Leonard down on the ropes and mounting any serious of significant damage.
And if it was a simple matter of clowning (:lol1: @ that being a valid reason for quitting in the middle of a fight) then why were Edwin Viruet's mugging antics - far more excessive & consistent than Leonard's - so utterly futile?
I'm not defending Duran for quiting, I don't think there's any valid reason for quiting except serious injury. I just don't think Duran quit because he was loosing, he lost to dejesus earlier in his career and fought till the end. There's no reason to think it was impossible for him to go on and win that fight?
to be honest, i think it was more duran who lost that fight than srl who won it.
sure, leonard made some adjustments after the first fight, but the second encounter wasn't as one sided as majority of people say it was.
bad training camp, cutting 50+ lbs, plus i think duran just wasn't mentally there.
i give all the credit to srl, but if their prime versions fought 10 times, duran would've won 6-7 out of 10 times.
Agreed....
But even the 1st fight was really close
Close but clear. I don't see how anyone could give it to Leonard. Also although Leonard won plenty of rounds Duran put a much bigger beating on him IMO
In my book, this win is overrated. The fight was at about its midpoint and it was close when Duran quit.
Americans spun this into a boxing lesson when it was far from it. Duran just didn't want to take part in the game Leonard was playing and said "F this guy. I'll get him in the rubber match."
Too bad it didn't happen until it didn't matter anymore.
It didnt happen because leonard didnt let it happen same with hurns, same with hagler. Leonard was a great fight but he made sure when he fought it was on his terms
Durans considerd the greatest lightweight of all time. Lightweight being the most talented deep division in boxing history. Duran started as a skinny Bantamweight before going to feather green as hell and beating arguably the most talented featherweight of all time in Ernesto Marcel. Marcel went on to retire a world champion after beating a prime Alexis Arguelo in his last defence.
Duran still green dethroned hall of fame boxer Ken Buchanan. Buchanan was a beautiful boxer with an ATG jab and tough as hell. Duran also beat Esteban Dejesus twice after losing the first fight. De Jesus was brilliant and also a hall of famer. Both Buchanan and De Jesus were in their prime when Duran beat them.
Duran had a few bouts at welterweight before facing Leonard beating Hall of fame boxer Carlos Palomino. Palomino was tough as nails and a brilliant inside fighter. Duran took him to school
Duran had 71 fights before he stepped up to face Leonard. Only losing one of them. Duran was already a great before he fought Leonard. After he stepped out of lightweight Duran was past his best and fighting much bigger men who also became greats. He beat the 2nd best welterweight of all time. He ran arguably the greatest ever middleweight ever close, he was up on the cards after 12 vs Hagler. Hagler was in his absolute prime as well. Duran even had no right giving master boxer Benitez a tough fight. Old fat Duran defied all the odds by beating the **** out of hot prospect Davie Moore and beating Monster middleweight Iran Barkley. Barkley had previously knocked out Tommy Hearns twice before facing Duran. This is the equivalent of Floyd beating GGG after GGG sparked a future ATG twice which isn't going to happen. Barkley went on to fight at light heavy ffs.
The only boxer to beat the **** out of Duran was Tommy Hearns but he was a freak of nature in those days .
Great post. Duran is one of the very best ever
SRL has wins over prime ATGs duran, benitez, hagler, and ended the reign of hagler,,,,
Short career but did more than other guys can only imagine and was a true warrior.
His win over hearns is arguably the greatest welter defense of all time
Yes he is near, the guy was amazing, fought everyone, and was virtually unbeatable in his prime in a very deep era.. p4p he is one of the greatest ever, and h2h he would school alot of great fighters.. hell a cracked out old pernell nearly beat a prime oscar
Pernell is one of the best to ever lace them up IMO
I dont mind if you dont think top 10, but he is certainly a lock for top 20.
False
I agree with everything you say regarding SRL, just think there are more than 10 fights with more/better achievements than him. I got him in top 20/25
I usually rate greb in the top 10, somewhere around 6 or 7,, him and langford i switch back in forth...
1. SRR
2. ALi
3. Armstrong
4. SRL
5. Ezzard
6. Greb
7. Langford
8. Louis
9. Duran
10. Pernell
SRL at number 4? Way to high imo. Good list other than that
The first fight was brilliant and I can't wait for the rematch. As for who wins I have no clue, either man is capable of ending the fight with one punch. I'd like to see groves win but I'm not confident
Its very hard to project where both fighters will be in Sept 2015-21 months from now.
If they fought today I would take floyd by UD, maybe even late stoppage given that Bradley would continue to throw and try to win unlike other floyd opponents who seem to stop trying to win.
Floyd would UD Bradley. Don't know where your getting a stoppage from though? When has floyd stopped a WW? When has Bradley been stopped before?
