Note, this is not a "get your excuses ready" thread (I know a bunch of guys are gonna jump in and say that).
I'm just genuinely curious as to what both Floyd, Pac, neutrals and everyone in between thinks.
Chin, speed, reflexes, stamina etc etc.
People say Pac has more wear and tear, whereas others see decline in Floyd.
What is clear is that both are a step slower from their peaks (2009-2012)
Who do you think has declined more?, and please add some insight as to what type of decline you see in either fighter.
Floyd for me.
his refelexes have slowed quite a lot. They are still very good
but compared to what a 33 year old mayweather could do.
although his hands are still crazy fast for a 38 year old.
he looks a lot more beatable now.
:AOR: Manny losing 8 or 9 rounds https://thedramaticallife.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/laughing2.gif
He will tho. He may win the 12th after Floyd plays it safe and protects his lead.
Pacquaio = Number 48
They have aged similarly but Mayweather's fighting style of technical defense ages better than 48's style of high energy busy offence. 48 does allot of unnecessary movement and loses control of himself at times. Freddy Roach said in 48's loss to Marquez. He lost the run of himself and went against Roaches plan by trying to finish Marquez.
Floyd never loses control. Fighters try to coax him into a fight and become frustrated with their failure to break down his defense. He hardly gets hit, doesn't waste energy, does enough to win. His style ages better than 48
Pacquiao has lost athletic ability but he has become more skilled, even in the last 2 years alone. He has also become more intelligent and has more than one tactic now. This makes up for his decline.
Mayweather has lost both athletic ability as well as a bit of his skills which is mostly caused by the former. He can't execute his moves as properly anymore and is getting hit more than he ever has.
Mayweather declined more but it's close. That's what makes this fight so close.
Floyd. He has lost some of his speed.. Roach pretty much admitted this after the maidana fight. I still think Floyd has enough skills left to win 8-4 or 9-3, but all rounds will be competitive as I believe Manny will fight to win not just survive.
Marquez landed the exact same looping punch on Pacquiao in their first fight and Pacquiao took it.
Even a blind man could see the in the slo mo replay that even Marquez was shocked at the power he was able to achieve with PEDs. The camera angle behind Pacquiao shows Marquez looks both shocked and terrified at the same time as he watched Pacquiao drop for the first time in 38 rounds.
Lmfao...... :trink26:
They both declined equally. Floyd just looked ****tier because his main selling point was his defensive reflexes but we know how Maidana made him look stupid. Maidana is nowhere near the caliber of Bradley.
From 2011 till 2014 Pacquiao has declined tremendously but Floyd looked normal, not as good as he was in 2005-2007 or 2009-2011 but he was still the best fighter in the world, Floyd has shown some significant declination last year (2014) though, and Manny Pacquiao looked like he didn't get much worse in 2014, it was just his usual self and the opposition he faced was also pretty low, to me the 2 Maidana fights were more even coming into the ring compared to Pacquiao Bradley 2 (who Pacquiao already beat easily in 2012 and still had a hard time with him in the rematch) and Algieri who never faced a C level southpaw before in his life and really didn't belong in the ring with any A level fighter.
Things are more evened out now than they were in 2009-2010 but I still think that Floyd has everything it takes to beat Manny Pacquiao at least 8 rounds to 4.
team pacquiao clearly waited for mayweather to show signs of vulnerability, as he did against maidana, before being really interested in making this fight
Who the **** do you think? The guy that goes all out every time he has stepped in the ring since the 1st time he ever stepped in a ring. Win lose or draw.
floyd has declined slightly more physically, but its to much greater consequence given his style. the older boxers get the more they have to fight, this is going to be less of a boxing match than it would have been in 09' which obviously benefits pacquaio tremendously. in 09' this was a 95/5 fight, now its roughly 70/30 but still in floyds favor. they are very different in terms of class, but who is the classier of the two changes when they step in the ring.
Did you not see the third round of the fourth fight? I swear, I think some of you guys are retarded. Freddie Roach said a blind man would've seen the shot Marquez knocked Manny down with.
Marquez landed the exact same looping punch on Pacquiao in their first fight and Pacquiao took it.
