I mean SERIOUSLY.
There needs to be an automatic 24hr ban for any question of the sort.
It's up to WEEKLY now that a thread of this variety pops up by someone who has no clue.
:mad:
Gittin' yer shorts soiled again over nutin', eh? That's gonna be embarrasin' when the EMS guys have to cart you away after your self induced heart attack.
Prozac, or vicidon with some booze will settle you down. Just don't drive or you'll end up with the same problem again!

The judges had it 4-2-1 for Vitali and all the fans obviously agreed. Vitali had Lewis on drunken legs such that Lewis' corner exhibited the best eye to hand coordination of the fight just moving his stool around to catch his wobbling oversized rump between rounds.
The replays showed it was a missed right hand whose grazing tape sliced open Vitali's eye. Vitali had never been cut before, and it was a legit punch which gave Lewis some life and hope, enough that in the sixth round he illegally held down Vitali by the head and delivered a series of uppercuts which opened it up further and then sandpapered Vitali's eye with his dreads on the ropes. It was Vitali who closed out the final round with a crisp combo and Lewis who wobbled back to his stool.
Lewis won a fair fight on the doc's stoppage, but you sure have a way of cheapening his victory in a fight he was losing. We saw how he then sold 2nd part of his belts to Don King and retired rather than face his mandatory for his last belt, the WBC one.
When you consider that Lewis is the first fighter in heavy history to vacate all three of his belts rather than face his mandatory, well, it's an ignoble end to an otherwise great career. Pity he and you muddied up his legacay.
As far as Vitali's face goes, well you saw Rocky's face when he KOed Charles didn't you? Vitali would have killed Lewis, cut eye or not had the fight gone on. Lewis was done, knew he was done, and wisely retired after being required and guaranteeing Vitali a rematch, end of story.

Maybe we don't cotton to little tinhorn thugs. Mayweather fought Castillo and Hatton just beat KT. Calzaghe is undefeated...Cotto, Brock, Taylor, who beat the consensus p4per. Lotsa undefeated ranked fighters and Zabby has two losses. No biggie except his fans are in denial. He's got a shaky jaw no matter how you slice it which is why King is keeping him away from sluggers. He might beat KT if he's lucky now. KT is older and took a frightful beating last time out. So what? KT owns the highlight reel and Judah gets all the laughs. Three times from one punch. He could of gone down 6x from the next punch and he might still be dancing the funky chicken from the 3rd punch. He looked like one of Roy's chickens out there. Funny stuff!

See the ]]] brackets above? That means I copied a poster's comments to respond to. The comments are not mine.
Castillo isn't interested in making weight. He feels he'll stay stronger in a nontitle fight not having to reduce. We'll see. That backfires on fighters quite often. I already picked Corrales, but it's a tough fight where anything could happen.
Tyson was a very accomplished inside fighter. Only Burns and Marciano had a shorter reach. His style was predicated on boxing and defense, not grappling, so no, he never grappled under D'Amato's system. Why should he? He was busy pitching shutouts and KOS. It's not like he HAD to grapple to protect himself, he was already well covered up. The ref breaks em and Tyson immediately went back to work.
Let's take a look at two good inside fighters, Corrales and Castillo. Both took a ton of punishment in their last fight and one was KOed and the other came within a whisker of being KOed. Tyson rarely took punishment under D'Amato's system and was never in any trouble in the ring. All the criticism of Tyson dates to when he stopped training properly under D'Amato's system. He still had his natural talent and some residual skills, but physically and mentally he lost his focus and never could stem the long decline. Before then he was as perfect a fighter in the ring as could ever be imagined.

I've seen plenty of Byrd weighins where he's in his skivvies. Byrd is consistant in his weight and has nothing to hide since he worked his way up the ladder the hard way.
Why did Hagler not fight again after the loss to Leonard, any theories?
No theories, just facts. Leonard retired after the bout and no amount of cajoling, concessions or money could ever bring him to rematch Hagler. Hagler retired a year later which he had planned to do anyway and Leonard promptly unretired. Hagler was uninterested in nontitle bouts and Leonard was unwilling to do the rematch even though the first bout made him the biggest purse of his life.

Well, lists are easy to tear apart because there is no uniform criteria and everyone has one. IBRO historians have picked Joe Louis as the best heavyweight ever.
Why did Holy beat Tyson? Well, he trained harder and wanted it more. Probably was on steroids too. King thought Holy was washed up and would be an easy fight for Tyson based on past performance. Holy also caught Tyson in his declining phase. Timing is everything in boxing. It's significant that Holy himself has a miserable record after that series which should clue you in on how much Tyson had declined.
Cotto handled him fairly well, so Hatton should too. Maussa can punch a bit and has big height, so he might do well for a while. Hatton will just drag him into the trenches and drown him as the rounds heat up.

Sorry, but you're way out there if you think Pavlik is ready to handle Taylor, Wright or Hop. He's a fine young contender, but he's at least a year away and needs to upgrade his comp to some of Hop's contender types. Zuniga is tough powerful nut he cracked but hardly a top middleweight.
This was not an inside fight. Pavlik did all his work outside ala a similar style to Wlad. When he briefly did fight inside, he was less effective and I hope he figures this out.
who wins this and why? ive never really seen brock fight so i want to know.
Byrd has not looked impressive since he won a title. Brock was much more effective against McCline and is a good enough boxer/puncher to mount a serious threat to Byrd. It's a pickem fight.
Jimmy Robinson was a LH who fought a touted young prospect, Cassius Clay. Robinson only won 5 of 28 fights and was KOed in 16 of them. Probably his best victory was a KO over a novice fighter making his pro debut, Ted Jones!
The writer Randy Gordon lost his only fight by KO. Don't think he was going to win many more.

Geez, Tyson and Holy, are they even in the top 100 heavies anymore? Maybe Tyson can finally fight Ali for the ultimate freak show now. Nice handle BTW. I'm a big fan of Louis.
Hopkins will be a little slower, and Taylor is still improving. Hopkins will still have to give away early rounds and maybe look harder for the KO. Taylor will fight much smarter though. He stood up to what is likely Hopkins best and has more confidence and is battletested now. Hopkins just flat out blew that fight, he gave it away. He has to try harder earlier and may not have the stamina to carry a full 12 rds worth of fighting.

Earth to Scottie, please beam him on down so he can see what's going on here back on earth.
The past two years has seen Valuev take on 4 consecutive top 50 fighters with Donald easily being a top 20 fighter. Valuev is 32 with no amateur experience who started in his career in the midst of Soviet upheavals and poverty. Jess Willard was 33, JJWalcott 37 when they won their titles. Lennox Lewis was 29 when he got his first title which he didn't hold long and was 32 when he regained it and from that period forward is where he compiled the vast majority of title defenses. Lewis had almost a decade of amateur experience at the highest levels as a base to build on.
I have no idea if Valuev really beat Donald. I predicted a tough fight for him for all the obvious reasons. People are still arguing over Oscar/Tito or Oscar/Shane, so what does it matter? The only thing that matters is that Valuev has a first rate promoter now and is moving forward and looks to have a title shot in a fight he matches up well in. We'll see what he can do from this point forward, but he's still improving and at the right age and circumstance for a giant boxer out of an impoverished country with no history of pro boxing.
Beam him on down now Scottie!
The idiots who claimed Peter or Wlad were bums didn't learn anything. They're still idiots and will die idiots while repeating the same nonsense. Hell, boxing wouldn't exist without those idiots sad to say.
What myth? Valuev is a work in progress. Donald was his biggest test yet. Donald is a first rate heavy with good skills and some size and his power cannot be discounted against Valuev who has only recently been able to upgrade his competition.
Valuev has learned a lot from this fight. Donald has learned nothing because he's already experienced against top fighters and will never fight another giant again. I don't give Ruiz much of a chance. He's slower, has low punch output, and his grab game is poorly suited against a guy too big and powerful to grab on to. I'd like to see Donald get a shot against Byrd or Brewster who he matches up best against. I think he could make Toney look bad too.
Floyd is a mental midget. Like Tyson, in the end it will drag down his talent, though Floyd is lucky enough not to be in the same class of stupidity as Tyson. Fighters have a short shelf life and Floyd won't have too many more years left, but it seems he likes the courtroom and paying millionaire attornies as much as making money in the ring.

Yeah, kinda like Roy is the best LH in the world right? Let's see, he beat an aging legend who's won only 1 fight in 5 yrs, beat up a novice crackhead, beat the ugliest heavy not named Toney in a fight he led with his face and was aided with a bogus KD, and now he beat a former prospect who's won 1 fight in the past couple of years. Did Toney try and turn on the lights by taking up Peter's continuous challenges? Nope, he keeps fighting the lower echlons. The Guinn fight probably represents his best legit performance against a top heavy.
Toney is a modern day Willie Meehan on steroids at this point. He'll be exposed soon enough, but if he could beat Byrd I might give him a little credit even though Byrd is a struggling fighter now.

Why would they want to copy a fighter who was custom trained in a very unique style by a master from a very young age? Peter will never be as quick with his hands and feet as Tyson. That's like asking a lion to be a leopard. Ain't gonna happen.
Peter needs to study Foreman and Louis tapes. They used modest footspeed to manuver themselves in position. Peter has the power and strength of Foreman and he draws you in like Louis did, he just doesn't cut the ring. If he just learns to jab and set himself up a little better he'll be back stronger than ever. Nobody wants to fight this guy though. Wlad deserves a lot of credit for making that fight.
]]
=========================
Maybe you actually demonstrated some aptitude it would not seem as though I'm condescending to you. Valuev is a modern day Jess Willard. Willard was equally raw and awkward to look at fighting fast waterbug 195 lb heavies. Did you already forget I gave you that valid Willard comparison?
John Scully posted about Valuev on his website when he got back with his fighter, Claybey, from Germany. Scully said he is unbelievably fast and strong and big. I've seen the KO of Ettienne and he showed some good coordination and footwork. Valuev is already a world ranked heavy, something that 99.5% of the heavies who ever boxed never accomplished. I've noticed the people on this board seem to have no sense of perspective. Nobody but a few idiots has ever pumped him up to more than what he is, but just as many few idiots want to tear him down to nothing. What's up with that?
]]
=========================
Still repeating the same old mythology I see. You don't know how much muscle Roy ever gained or lost from Ruiz. Even accepting Roy's fight weight of 199 in street clothes compared to his 185lb fight weight at LH, that's only 14 lbs. Tarver routinely comes down from 210 to make the LH limit. If you knew anything about fight weights than you'd know that some fights the weights are rigged by various purpose for various reason, but of course that don't jibe with your agenda.

The worst that I can think of beat the hell out of the best, NeonLeon/Ali l. The 2nd worst, Ruiz fights today, propped up by King. Willard would beat Ruiz easier than he did Jack Johnson and poor Neon Leon wouldn't stand a chance. Valuev is coming along at a good time for him. Timing is everything. Just ask Ken Norton or Jerry Quarry.
Yeah, David "Nino" Rodriguez is a damn fine prospect who was 18-0 with 18 FIRST RD KOs and some of those later heavies were decent quality. He looks skilled too. Why he doesn't want to be a millionaire is beyond me. He's 6'5" in the 240s, looks like a model for GQ and Latinos would go nuts over him, hell everyone would. He's still young yet, but he just won a 4 rder in a nothing bout against novice journeyman type and going nowhere fast. He's blowing an opportunity of a lifetime, but he's young enough to make some hay still. His manager has got to be the dumbest guy on the planet and maybe Nino is too.
