The only fighter who looked amazing this weekend was James Toney, and all you people do is say Guinn is a weak opponent? Guinn was supposed to be the next big thing until he lost his motivation. You could tell Guinn is a good fighter in the opening round of the Toney fight, but Toney is THE best heavyweight in the world. Toney shut this guy out, something we haven't seen in the division in what seems like ages. Guinn won one round on two scorecards! Toney showed amazing skill in dispatching this guy, who is a solid hitter and has a solid chin, and you guys are saying Guinn is a nobody. Guinn is probably one of the most talented guys in the division, but Toney is THE most talented, and his abilities dwarfed Guinn's on Saturday. Show some respect.
I think everybody knocking on Toney is just a little upset that their boy Roy got his bitch ass handed to him for the 3rd fight in a row. Tarver is better than Roy, and you all can't accept it so you knock on Toney for being the best heavyweight in the world, much better than Roy was at heavyweight for his one fight.

Yeah, kinda like Roy is the best LH in the world right? Let's see, he beat an aging legend who's won only 1 fight in 5 yrs, beat up a novice crackhead, beat the ugliest heavy not named Toney in a fight he led with his face and was aided with a bogus KD, and now he beat a former prospect who's won 1 fight in the past couple of years. Did Toney try and turn on the lights by taking up Peter's continuous challenges? Nope, he keeps fighting the lower echlons. The Guinn fight probably represents his best legit performance against a top heavy.
Toney is a modern day Willie Meehan on steroids at this point. He'll be exposed soon enough, but if he could beat Byrd I might give him a little credit even though Byrd is a struggling fighter now.
Honestly you could do this kind of shit with anybody, so why even do it? Anyone can waste their time nitpicking each HW's current resume but that's exactly what it is, a waste fo time.
Toney has dominated the fighters that he's fought. To this point he's doing just as much as any other guy outside of Brewster.
I saw the fight and i didnt think Toney looked AMAZING!!!!
Guinn was an average fighter who lost his last two... and who has Toney fought anyway..... as a heavy weights... Jirov, Ruiz, (who is the worst heavyweight ive ever seen).Toney looked how he always looks, hes consistant. Hes a banger. he can take a punch. And hes alot of trouble for most of the division... But he will get outboxed by Vitali, i think even Byrd would be a problem for him, Byrd has toooo much movement..
But your all right by saying Toney looked Good, but not AMAZING..

Excellent points. NOBODY has looked as good against Ruiz as Toney did. Sure, Roy patted him here and there, but Toney beat the shit out of him. Toney KO'ed Holyfield, pummeled Rydell Booker and owned Guinn for 12 rounds. At heavyweight, Toney has MAYBE lost 5 rounds out of 45 rounds...
And when he beats a top 10 heavyweight without performance enhancing drugs, wake me up and then we'll party like it's 1999.
(BTW, I thought Roy's performance against Ruiz was every bit as impressive. Tua's too ;) )
people still care about this cheater? if he's "the best" heavyweight out there, he wouldnt need to CHEAT and use steroids to help him win.
C'mon..... You know he didn't take roids as a performance enhancer.

"Toney's not a real heavyweight"...is what we keep hearing from his detractors..
YET.....he continues to beat certain heavies in a more dominant & impressive fashion than the other "natural" heavyweights are doing.
He beat Guinn, Ruiz, & Holyfield much easier than has anyone else.
Can't believe people are knocking on Toney right now
Actually first the first three rounds or so, guinn looked better than he has ever looked in a fight, and stumbled toney in the first with a jab and caught toney with a few cool left hooks, but james toney is a boxing technician, and he proved that on saturday and in his fights at heavy weight, I was skeptical at first when toney first started saying he was the best heavy weight in the world, but now I am starting to believe him...
I agree with you, DiegoFuego.
Garbage opponent or not, the guy looked impressive...and you can tell that shut-out he pitched against Guinn can translate into giving anyone trouble and beating alot of the top dogs.
