Frank Lotiziero might want a new job

The one thing every great champion with the exception of Rocky Marciano had to prove at some point during their career, is they could overcome a loss. In three redemption bouts, Jones is winless (0-3). The fact Jones is/was one of the most gifted and talented fighters of the last thirty years, doesn't mean he's close to being one of the toughest mentally or physically. Against Tarver in their third fight, he proved beyond a doubt that adversity was something he couldn't cope with. Hard to believe at one time there were writers and fans who thought Jones was Sugar Ray Robinson's equal. Hopefully, after seeing Roy Jones fight to survive against an opponent he accepted he couldn't beat, along with hearing him admit it afterward, they'll never demean Robinson by comparing them again. First of all...http://i15.thefacebook.com/gpic/53/n10910.41.jpg This guy Frank is supposed to write something good about Castillo but I guess he figures the only way he can do that is to degrade Roy Jones Jr. 1) Who exactly did Marciano fight and beat in their prime that was so damned good? 2) What a crock o' shit. Roy proved he has toughness by taking a fight no one thought he could win, and proved it BIG time by beating Tarver in the first fight on nothing but heart alone in the last 2 rounds. Whoever thinks Roy has no heart or toughness doesn't know jack shit or hasn't seen the championship rounds of Jones-Tarver I. No one demeans Robinson by comparing him to Roy. If anything it's a compliment. Robinson is an all-timer and so is Roy. But yeah, I guess we can hold it against Roy that no one even challenged him till he was 35 and past his prime. Remind me, Frank...when did Sugar Ray Robinson lose 18 lbs of muscle and then win a fight?

out of curiosity, why does it matter who he writes for? you either agree or don't. I don't agree, but I have tons of respect for this website.

Frank L. is one of the most respected writers in the business. I don't always agree, but I always read. everytime I read his articles there is something wrong not with his opinions, but with the logic in this one he compares jones to castillo coming back from 4 stoppage losses, but he FORGETS to mention they were on cuts in another article he says duran and moore lost 36 pounds, to fight while roy jones complains because he had to lose 18, but he FORGETS to mention that the 36 pounds duran and moore lost were not between one weigh in and the other, also on these 36 pounds we just have to take his word for it... Now I personally don't like too much roy jones out of the ring and sometimes in the ring too, but when I read bullshit like the one by FL I start sympatizing

I'm a huge RJJ fan. He always looked great, fighting cops. He usually looked average fighting fighters. Early on..he was a phenom. The boxing world will always have "what if" questions about him and his talent. Like "What if" he retires after beating ruiz? Or "What if" he went after B-hop five years ago? "What if" Frankie Loz wrote an unbiased boxing article? Hang em up Roy. You were great once. You arent now. Thats coming from a fan.

The article has many valid points and Lotierzo was an amatuer fighter from what I understand has sparred with known fighters. The difference between Jones and other greats is that at the end of their careers, they were not KTFO by fighters who were older than them.

]] ========================= Still repeating the same old mythology I see. You don't know how much muscle Roy ever gained or lost from Ruiz. Even accepting Roy's fight weight of 199 in street clothes compared to his 185lb fight weight at LH, that's only 14 lbs. Tarver routinely comes down from 210 to make the LH limit. If you knew anything about fight weights than you'd know that some fights the weights are rigged by various purpose for various reason, but of course that don't jibe with your agenda.
